when you visited our school orchestra this was one of the most mind blowing things that you demonstrated to us
I don't even play violin. You're just so entertaining. 🤣🤣🤣
You're awesome. Sometimes brevity is the soul of learning or sometimes wit. Enjoy your performances, just watched Intro Rondo and Cap.
What a great idea!
Now I wish I were home with my violin instead of at work. Never thought I would look forward to practicing upbow staccato
Its hard when musicians are cute. I end up focusing on their face instead of their music when they perform lmao
You know, he is a cute guy, but I’d have trouble looking him in those crazy eyes, and taking him seriously!😂
You are a breath of fresh staccato :) thanks for this :)
i have been doing this subconsciously all this time, never would have expected it's a genuine hack
Your youtube channel and facebook are inspiring to me! :) Thank you!
Ray Chen ROCKS!
Oh that's a nice technique haha thanks for the tip! I'll try it out tomorrow. though I'm not sure I'll succeed..
I would love to see more of these types of videos sometimes in the future! :)
good day~
Very helpful, Thanks!
omg love u!! thanx you are mazing you have to do more videos like this one is so useful
It worked! Do add some elbow force after you manage to get the bow to grip the string
Just got a subscriber! Thank you so much. Please keep it up :)
Love your videos!
Hahaha!! Your soo funny!! I love your videos! I started learning violin three weeks ago. I'm still struggling in doing vibrato..
Great, thanks
Ok😁, thanks to you 🤗 Will try it today. Something new about staccato for me👍
Thank you very much!♥
Thank for sharing Ray
I would like to know some tips from you about the staccato marking on the scores, that little dot. How will you interpret those notes in terms of articulation? What factors are taken into consideration when choosing to articulate that note by staccato, by spiccato or sautillé? I am so confused when I see the notes with dots. I don't know I should keep the bow on the string as in staccato, or bounce the bow as in spiccato.
İnteresting way, thank you :-)
very informative ! thank you so much
Thanks Ray and very funny! Will give it a go up up up up up up :-)
It works! Thanks
What am I doing here I can't even play a C scale in tune
Sarah Kraus yes and I was saying it would be ambitious to assume he could play a C scale after 10 months. It was a bit of a roast I know
It works!!!!😮😮😮😮
Amazing!!!
it's an original idea from a pro... got to try it !!
omg literally tysm I’m working on wieniawski 2 and this actually works I’m so happy
Its freak maestro but great as usual !!!
Thanks for sharing 😅❤
i tried using this method whilst practicing the up bow staccato in Wieniawski's concerto no 2 and it sounded so horrible i burst into laughter
Francaise qui dit oui..good❤
Wow que máximo !!!
This works! 😮🙂
Very useful
Wow, I have never done upbow staccato before, and it worked! Still needs training, though ^ ^'
kein Problem
ich mag
Awesome. I love your channel. I recently made my own violin and bow. If you ever visit Amsterdam let me know. We could collab on a video and play duets 😉
Next time practising I will give it a try, but don't hold up your hope😁
Could you please make a downbow staccato tip too?
For me, i can do it with only one note, but when I try it while changing notes during the staccato, I mess up. Someone please help me.
i am able to do it for a single note, but i still can't slow it down and, when i change the note, i messed up... any tips?
who plays is Julia Fischer?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🌹
in sarasate i need this tehnicque
Thx
UGH I have a hard time with anything quick, I freeze up. I know it's because I play too tense when playing fast. LOL gota relax.
Nice video tip 👍👍. How about down staccato?
4년전 뭐야 겁나 큐티해..
can you pls do one for spicatto
Ray Chen: Perfect
Me: "squeak scratch snap"
Down bow spiccato exercise please Ray? What have you got?
Now I wanna see upbow staccato to the end of the bow, then reverse the whole process back down to the frog.
Ray roman kim played god save the king by paganini like this....check it out
Is it possible to practice hora staccato slowly?
Can you just upload a video on how to hold a bow? Especially the index finger cuz that's so confusing or just mention it here about which part of the index finger is used, please.
What kind of violin is that?
Sounds like an old printer from the 2000´s when the staccato was slower.
Now ..i understand.....
His eyes are gonna pop out one of these days! Lol!😳
My right and left hand refuses to work together
what is the piece at the end
Nakajima Takumi
It's the last movement of the Mendelssohn violin concerto in e minor
you’re so fucking precious
wow.... je veux plus vidéo ça.... je veux apprendrer... si vous plaît....
Paganini 21 anyone?
Lol something, something like that. 🤣🤣
Long story short , do a tremolo , then try to move your bow up while your doing it , you won't get a tremolo you'll get an up bow staccato
it works but need training
Any staccato gives me a nightmares
I prefer Perlman’s methodology on this/lol
Who here is for introduction and rondo?
His accent... I just don't know anymore.
Hello #RayChen
You know that this video you made is not the way you do your upbow staccato...
Why you dont tell everyone how you remove your middle finger and pinkie off the bow and
What you actually do..
Thank a lot !
It doesn't work.
That is the most ridiculous suggestion. Words fail to address all the mishmash of this "technique."
Bold of you to assume that my tremolo is any good.
If you keep it up, we might put you in the viola section. There, scared enough? Perfect tremolo coming...
😂😂😂😂
Me too!!! I was thinking the same thing.
