I recently rewatched Stardust Crusaders, and I remember asking myself why they didn't trust Kakyoin during these two episodes. I think that, subconsciously, Avdol and Joseph remembered when Hermit Purple informed them that Kakyoin would betray them. While all of them eventually became aware that Yellow Temperance had taken the form of Kakyoin in order to get the upper hand on Jotaro, I feel like they would keep Hermit Purple's warning in the back of their mind with the real Kakyoin, since there would be no way to be 100% sure whether or not the warning referred to the real Kakyoin. It's a kind of you-can't-be-too-careful situation. He's really reserved, too, so I don't think any of his teammates knew him very well, which can potentially make it difficult to trust him completely. It also doesn't help that their first ever encounter with Kakyoin was as Dio's minion... All in all, I think most of the distrust was subconscious, which does make a certain amount of sense to me.
To be fair, Mannish boy was a baby, and seeing Polnareff when he was young his stand was also weak, so maybe when Mannish Boy grows up Death 13 will become more powerful, Plus compared to other Part 3 Stand users, his development potential is B, which is quite high and also backs up my statement
Yeah but the user is 11 months old. It's a fucking baby versus a bunch of adults. It seems to be a pretty solid stand, and the user could be strong when it's actually grown up. The fact that he had the entire squad on the ropes is an impressive feat in itself.
PAPA SMURF He doesn't have to be an adult, like a 8 or 9 year old would have posed a humongous threat. If the baby was that smart at 11 months old, he would be far smarter then any of the crew, and we can assume that he would be more adept at using his stand. We also don't know (as far as I remember) the range actual range of his stand, and whether it could be improved with practice.

Okay, but as we saw in the Alessi arc, a naturally occuring stand will grow stronger as the user grows up and matures, and as shown in Rohan Kishibe's Adventure, even a slight change in the user's worldview or mindset can drastically improve a stand's usefulness by allowing it to overcome some of its weaknesses(both cases, of course, depend on the stand's developmental potential), so the question is: would an older and more mature Mannish Boy end up having a stronger version of Death 13, thus making the stand legitimately powerful?
I agree that it had a lot of room to grow, even if he's a baby with the intelligence of a full grown man, he's still immature, and even if he's absurdly intelligent he could learn so much more over the course of his life. Also his potential is a B so there's that too.

Death 13 is one of the strongest stands period. Also no, you cannot wake up if you are "scared enough." Polnareff woke Kakyoin up because he was frantic in his sleep. If you ask me, the stand actually has the power to increase the potency of your sleep. Kaykoin didnt even wake up in a falling plane with everyone screaming around him. And he was literally carving himself up and eating eyeballs, you'd think he would have woken up in "fear" if that was a thing. Everyone in this world is not a stand user, which means he can instantly kill anyone if he didnt fuck around. Plus he's only 11 fucking months. That's like saying Silver chariot at 4 years old is weak because it couldnt do anything. Regardless of the user's intelligence, the stand is still not as powerful as it will be for an adult. It's highly likely that the range could develop into 30-50 meters by the time the user is 20 due to the B in potential. It is also possible that it would develop the power to sneak into a dream in the future. Combine that with the fact that it's literally impossible to tell you were attacked by it unless you carve "attacked by stand in sleep" into your arm, which is almost useless by the way. And you seem to be underestimating the range. Apparently even though it had an E, it was still capable of a *minimum* 5 meter radius because he caught both the dog and Kakyoin in range, which were considerably far apart. And that's just assuming the baby was in the middle of them and not further away, considering he should have been in someone's house at that point in time. It's already strong, with the potential to become way stronger than any stand in the real world.
Most of the enemy stands in part 3 were based on horror icons. Death 13 is Freddy, Wheel of Fortune is Christine, Ebony Devil is the voodoo doll from Trilogy of Terror, Yellow Temperance is The Blob
4:16 I think you made an error there. Kakyoin wasn't so scared that he woke himself up. Polnareff just happened to wake him up around the time that the dog dies. Kakyoin even thanks Polnareff for saving him, despite Kakyoin forgetting the events that happened in the dream. Unless it's different in the manga or a bad anime translation
Im sure a few of these reasons are due to the user. Death 13 is best as an assassin stand but that directly conflicts with manish boys want for toying with prey. He lost because he gave up the element of surprise. Plus Kakyoin bringing out his stand at the right time was luck at best. But as a normal combat stand it does suck.
zhang Bill Not true, you can’t remember death 13 unless you have your stand in the dream world or pull a Kakyoin and crave up your body (which the stand could easily fix before you wake). Otherwise, at best the group said that it was like a nightmare they couldn’t remember and at worse simply didn’t remember anything.
You bring up many good points but you glossed over the fact that the user is indeed only 11 months old. Him being only 11 months means that his stand has still awhile to develop to it's full potential. We know that stands develop while the user grows up through the Sethan arc. On top of that Death 13 has a B in developmental potential so we can assume that as Mannish Boy gets older that Death 13 would get stronger and eventually be able to counteract many of the things he cannot do that you brought up in the video. Overall I agree that Death 13 is weak in it's currently state but I do believe that it could be even stronger as Mannish Boy develops, sadly we never got to see that. Anyways great video Meti
Hey did you watch the Kaleb I.A. video where he actually covered that on how can Death 13 grow like giving it more range, lock people into dreams so they can't naturally wake up and allowing it to manifest into day dreams.
LegendOfSonic I honestly don't think he would, but he would scare it half to death to make sure it never came after him again. Jotaro's not a murderer. The only people he's killed were done in situations where it was absolute life or death. I think he'd traumatize Mannish Boy a little, and then go on his way.
Death 13 can't: 1. Enter someone's dream? Sure, but it CAN pull anyone into it's dream world, regardless of when they started sleeping. My evidence for this is the fact that Mannish Boy pulled all of the crusaders into it's dream world, even though Kakyoin fell asleep way before the others (and I'm sure that everybody didn't fall asleep at the exact same second). 2. Keep you in it's dream? Ummm, yes it can. That scene Meti shows of Kakyoin waking up screaming? Poulnareff was next to him saying stuff like "rise and shine" and "you finally woke up." I'm pretty sure that this implies Poulnareff woke Kakyoin up. Even if this is not the case, so what? It still works, unless it scares you too much, which it did ENTIRELY for plot reasons (and maybe because it's a baby with no experience). Instead of sadisticaly scaring Kakyoin, Death 13 could've just silently appeared behind him and cleaved his head off. So it's not the stand's fault it's underutilized, it's the user's. 3. Hurt you before you wake up? Bullshit. The only reason this stand didn't violently murder everyone was the sheer fact that the stand user was a baby with no experience. If Death 13 splits the crusaders around the dream world (which it can since it can manipulate the area at will) and then proceeds to kill them off one by one by appearing silently behind them and cleaving their heads off, it would have defeated them. all by itself with little to no difficulty.
Also there was no mention of the *_B_* level *_G R O W T H P O T E N T I A L ,_* regardless of how weak the stand was when the Mannish Boy was a _baby,_ having such a high growth potential means if he was an _adult,_ the stand could be near unstoppable!
Despite its flaws, Death 13 could've easily killed the entire crew if Manish Boy waited for the middle of the night to attack. Instead, he attacked Kakyoin during the morning and later the crew inside a helicopter, creating the scenario that led Kakyoin to go to sleep with his stand. 5:11 I think that by unconcious, it means that the person is literally asleep or passed out. While Jotaro and Shizuka used their stands unconsciously in the sense that they used it instinctively.
Personally, I blame all the shortcomings on him being a baby. Mannish may be smart, but he’ll be too immature and his mental growth is already altered by being with DIO and having a Stand. Give him a few years, and not only do I think the Stand will mature, but possibly hone and expand his abilities. But, as it stands (hah), he only has the bare essentials and doesn’t consider the consequences of his Stand.

Death 13 cannot just harm, but also heal people in his dream world - maybe he can even do more things. And healing stands are always at least a bit useful
Can be used as an assassination stand by making the target fall asleep somehow like with some sort of poisoned tea... Or something... Even if you fail to kill the target they wont know that the dream even happened. Also there's nothing restricting Death 13 from just killing the target immediately once they enter the dream world, Death 13 only scares Kakyoin because the user was a cocky baby.
But then, Death-13 also has what is arguably one of Freddy Kreuger's potentially greatest strengths: even if you know it is a thing that will attack you when you sleep, you will still not want to sleep and get attacked by it. Therefore, you will want to stay awake so that don't get attack by it, and eventually start succumbing to sleep deprivation and the many horrible symptoms that can manifest from that. So, I have to strongly disagree when you say Death-13 sucks, coz I think even that potential psychological impact it can have is more than enough to make it a decent stand.
But then what if you don't know who is controlling the stand, or it's range? Coz it's not like the characters could really know the range of effect it has, unless they found a way to test that? Also, what if it wasn't a baby? I mean, I know it is in this arc, but what if it was someone else's stand and you had no idea whose it was?

You could always threaten everyone you encounter with your stand, if they react in some way you will know they are a user. Also, Death 13 range is only E. You would need to basically be in the same room as the user in order to be affected.

Actually he can actually prevent injures from coming out of real world, he did heal Kakyoyin arm at the end of the episode, that means he is also a superb healing stand as he can heal people in dreams and affect reality
I'm sure if Mannish Boy grew up and practicied with his Stand, it would become more powerful, maybe even manifest in the real life as a Stand that, can go throught solid matter, float/levitate, use it's Scythe and, force people to fall asleep and make them wake up only when it says so Also, it makes sense why Mannish Boy has such flaws, he's too pround of being a intelligent baby that he forgets about a lot of things that might have worked, and this "genious baby" clearly has more to learn -he's out smarted by Kakyoin, the smartest in the crusaders- about everything
I'm guessing in this case the big reason it didn't succeed was that the user was a baby. Hell it has plenty of potential as to stats. So if Kakyoin scared him straight Mannish Boy may well have used it for good as he grew.. having Dio as a role model doesn't help much either really
You're missing one glaring advantage people don't remember these dreams. even if he doesn't kill them, just cuts them, they'll wakeup thinking it's just some weird scratch or the stand operates differently they only remember the dream if their stand was in it
It was weak when it showed up because the user was a *_BABY,_* if he was an _adult,_ that *_B_* rank in *_GROWTH POTENTIAL_* would make Death 13 more dangerous.

Giorno would have to know that he needs to activate his stand before he sleeps, GER would also have to know that, The only way for a stand to enter the dreamworld is if the stand user brings them in before they sleep.
Or how stupid the user is. If it had killed Kakyoin at the start of the arc, it may have scared Jotaro and the others into leaving, forcing MB to lose his targets, and since it’s a baby, not find them again. If it had succeeded in killing Polnareff and Kakyoin in the plane, it would be obvious that the baby was the user, and the group would just finish the baby off. And going with them wouldn’t have worked either, as they would probably have reached their destination alright since they wouldn’t have crashed. All in all, the Stand has potential, but a shit user. There are many Stands with problems, and Death 13, has more than most, but it had a slim chance. And the User wastes them.

Personally, I’d love to see Mannish Boy come back as an adult and with an improved stand (seeing as he has a B in potential). Perhaps he could induce some sort of daydream in which Death 13 can manifest itself and attack it’s target, as well as maybe improving it’s range, speed, and power a bit. Maybe it wouldn’t be as strong when manifesting itself in a daydream than it is in an actual dream, and maybe Mannish Boy would actually be able to tell the difference between something he made in the dream world vs something he didn’t make, meaning that a stand would actually have to sneak up on Death 13 without him noticing it. I don’t know though, I just figured it would be kind of cool to see a minor stand user from part 3 (that actually survived) come back, at least as some kind of cameo or something (maybe about to attack, but recognizing Jotaro, deciding it wasn’t worth getting ora ora’d, and running away) and Mannish Boy seems like the most obvious choice seeing as he would be an adult at this point. What do you guys think?

Polnareff was wait for Kakyoin to wake up, there is a full 2 and a half pages of Kakyoin waking up on his own and screaming. Polnareff like any reasonable person is trying to calm down the screaming man.

It's got a B in development potential and even if you fail the attack they won't remember it also it's got decent range despite the stand stats (at least enough to kill someone on the floor directly above)
1. He can trap his victims ensuring they can't escape nor call for help or even fight back since they can't summon their stands while asleep. Which no, not everyone can do. 2. Even if anyone is lucky enough to be woken up out of the dream, they will not remember a thing, and given that the most important way to beat a stand is to learn their ability, this removes a huge disadvantage that not many stands can brag about. 3. They can do it from a safe and secure location, albeit still close enough to the target, meaning absolutely no one has any idea who the killer is. Hell, Kira would be jealous of D13. Speaking of him, I'd even go so far as to say D13 is kinda comparable to Killer Queen's Bite the Dust.
non related to death 13 but since you talked about the sun...in part 3 we see that stands can shrink in size, does that mean that arabia fat could make a mini the sun ? That could be more useful then the normal one
I think he would be the perfect stand when it comes to assassinating a single target, all it has to do is to wait until the target hoes to sleep (preferably in a hotel or somwhere similar) and create the dream world then just simply finish him in one quick strike (I think Kakyoin only survived because death 13 decided to toy with him before killing him)
Thing is, Death 13 didn't know that Kakyoin was carving words into his arm. If he had known, he could've healed the wounds like he did at the end of the arc before they transferred into the real world. Also Polnareff was the one to wake Kakyoin at first, he didn't wake himself up.
To be fair at the end of the arc we see that Death 13 could heal Kakyoin's wound, he just didn't notice it was a message. Conversely one could argue that if Death 13 cut the bullshit and went straight for the kill there was very little that Kakyoin and Polnareff could have done. That said it still has many flaws.
People will probably disagree, but think about it.... You can't use a stand to fight and you need to be around someone as they sleep to use the Stand. By that point, why wouldn't you instead just have your Stand kill them in their sleep? This entire thing only works if you're specifically in a situation where you can't kill make it obvious that you're killing them, but even then, unless you can make it look like one heck of a god-tier accident, any group would immediately realize "Oh, maybe this new guy is the reason why one of us is just dead now?
Okay, here's how the whole "Unconscious Stand" scenario works based on events in the manga and anime: When you're a child (like that baby from JJBA4), and you have developed a stand, you have little to know control over the stand's actions, and could unconsciously activate it's ability based on the torrent of emotions and thoughts in your still developing mind. To bring your stand into the dream world, you need to fall asleep while the stand is out, which takes a lot of dream concentration (or lucid dreaming) for it to work. This is all hypothetical though.
The thing is that we've seen Koichi's stand evolve over time, this could potentially also be the case for Death 13, seeing as his stand is a literal baby.
I’d be too powerful against a stand like this because I’m the lightest sleeper I know. Plus whenever I have nightmares I can tell things are starting to go bad and I think to myself “hmm, no” and then I wake myself up. So he’d scare me and I’d be like uhm bye. I would loose a lot of sleep though...
I personally think it was to show Kakyoins knowledge in the show apart from that I love every arc because it was interesting and fun like Mr.Ultimate said
I'm guessing Jotaro had minor influence on Star Platinum back then. Basically thinking "Don't let this bullet kill me. Don't let this bullet kill me. Don't let this bullet kill me." Is what triggered the summon. It's also what caused him to use it against the thugs. He wanted to kick their asses.
I was always under the impression that that's where he first summoned SP. For some reason or other, they aggressed Jotaro (or he aggressed them, who knows?), and both sides got ready to throw down. Jotaro would've gotten bodied, but that's where SP first came and brutalized them all. The reason why Jotaro locks himself in that cell is because he was scared and wary of what his "evil spirit" could do. That led me to believe that it manifested for the first time there, not because Jotaro wanted to beat them, but without any input whatsoever.
I mean Jotaro himself is pretty strong without Star Platinum, he states that he beats most thugs hard enough to go into the hospital before he had Star Platinum. He likely would have kicked their ass anyways.
The reason Kakyoin woke up at the beginning wasn't because of the fear he felt, it was because Polnareff shook him awake. He did mention that you can only wake up if someone else wakes you up.
Really? You forget one rule of stand users - stronger the stand, lesser the range. D13 can modify the body of the stand user (see Polnareff) as well as the dream world. Immobilise the user and bury them/break their neck. That's it. It'd be over for them. You'd need a ranged ability to take it down or sneak up on it. Considering it's durability is A, most ranged stands aren't gonna have much luck, especially if D13 stopped fucking around and killed them the second they entered his world. For comparison, imagine D13 in the hands of one of Part 5's Hitman Team. Combined with the Grateful Dead, it's nigh unstoppable. Plus, we see from Giorno's flashback about being able to use GE's ability as a kid while not being able to manifest his stand. Hypothetically, just like Giorno gained a punch ghost after growing up despite having the ability early on, Mannish Boy could also eventually manifest it in the real world. Lastly, Sethan and Grateful Dead showed how physical age affects stands, while Koichi and Johnny showed how emotional maturity affects stand power. This is a 11 month old baby. It has decades to grow, and with his genius intellect, he's already got a 5 year headstart on most babies. A dev potential of B also means it can unlock more abilities or improve its own current ones. D13 sucks only because the user was a cocky brat who played with his prey. In the hands of an experienced assassin, the SC would be finished before they even woke up in the dream world.
I just realized something Kakyoin asked Mannish Boy to fix his Wounds .....Can Death 13 be a Healer ? - Maybe he can do great many things as long as he can get ppl to sleep Surgery, Plastice Surgery, possibly reverse aging ? Is there a limit there ?
I feel like you're just rambling on about it's weaknesses and not realising how unlikely those weaknesses are to actually be exploited. Mannish Boy wasn't able to realize that Hierophant Green was real because the possibility that someone would leave their stand active whilst they sleep is so rare he didn't expect it. I mean, most of Mannish Boy's success came from the fact that him being a baby was likely to lower people's guard. Had Mannish Boy killed Kakyoin quickly instead of scaring him do you think those weaknesses would of mattered. The only way someone would plan so far ahead as to activate their stand before going to sleep specifically to counter stands like Death 13 would be either someone that's unrealistically paranoid, or someone that already knows how Death 13 works. The first counter is a trait only seen in a handful of characters so it doesn't matter that much, but to deal with the second counter all the boy would have to do is kill them before they realise what his stand is. Like, what are they gonna about it, force themselves awake, oh wait, Death 13 prevents that. So really the fault there lies in the user, a literal *BABY* being stupid. And it may suck that it can't protect the user, but as long as the user isn't an idiot pisses people off for no reason, that wouldn't really be a problem. You also seemed to ignore the fact that Death 13 has no weakness against any stand that has less than a B in durability, as leaving your stand active whilst you're unconscious isn't something that can be done with mediocre durability. So essentially the only scenario where Death 13 would suck as much as you say would be when a stand user, who isn't afraid to curb stomp a baby, that already knows exactly how Death 13 works, decides to activate his stand, which either has an A or a B in durability, before they go to sleep and manages to sneak attack Death 13 before Death 13 can just kill the user. Any slight variation in that scenario and Death 13 is pretty much guaranteed a victory, but apparently he still sucks because he has weaknesses. SMH.
A lot of good points being made in the comment section as to why the stand could grow a lot. May I add the point that a grown man of genius nature, such as MB should become, can easily use Alcohol and Narcotics to his advantage and make his target fall asleep. And also most of the points made in the video are based on the user playing with his prey instead of killing them within seconds of entering dream land.
The only dream walker to appear in my dreams was queen scarlet randomly ages after a mostly forgot about them after only encountering them through a review that I watched 4 months before the appearance, the review freaked me out because I expected the hero’s journey instead of diet water ship down featuring dragons and the trolley problem.

While the video is correct in respect to Death 13's ability in the context of part 3, many of the flaws of the stand (such as scaring the user awake and not recognizing that Hireophant Green was not his creation) are more flaws of the user. Though, that also raises the question of whether or not Mannish Boy directly controls the stand or if he is simply always aware of its automated activities. Regardless, yeah. I do enjoy the video though.
I mean the sun is extremely powerful, but it can also kill its own user if said user doesn’t prepare ahead of time. Not sure why people consider it weak, its kinda perfect for killing multiple people who have nowhere to escape if the user doesn’t care about their own life, or if they prepare
When you made the argument that jotaro uses star platinum without thinking and that contradicted the rule of non stands activating when unconscious, you seem to have mixed up “subconscious” and “unconscious”. Star platinum and other stands have activated subconsciously without their users knowing.
I think this is a perfect exaple of good stand and bad stand user. The main issue is, if he just killed the person as soon as they enter, every problem would dissappear except the fact that he can't defend the user.

Yeah but the user is 11 months old. It's a fucking baby versus a bunch of adults. It seems to be a pretty solid stand, and the user could be strong when it's actually grown up. The fact that he had the entire squad on the ropes is an impressive feat in itself.

We also don't know (as far as I remember) the range actual range of his stand, and whether it could be improved with practice.

Okay, but as we saw in the Alessi arc, a naturally occuring stand will grow stronger as the user grows up and matures, and as shown in Rohan Kishibe's Adventure, even a slight change in the user's worldview or mindset can drastically improve a stand's usefulness by allowing it to overcome some of its weaknesses(both cases, of course, depend on the stand's developmental potential), so the question is: would an older and more mature Mannish Boy end up having a stronger version of Death 13, thus making the stand legitimately powerful?
Try imagining Death 13 in a powerful killer’s hands from part 5. Then it would become scary powerful even with the drawbacks.
I agree that it had a lot of room to grow, even if he's a baby with the intelligence of a full grown man, he's still immature, and even if he's absurdly intelligent he could learn so much more over the course of his life. Also his potential is a B so there's that too.

Death 13 is one of the strongest stands period. Also no, you cannot wake up if you are "scared enough." Polnareff woke Kakyoin up because he was frantic in his sleep. If you ask me, the stand actually has the power to increase the potency of your sleep. Kaykoin didnt even wake up in a falling plane with everyone screaming around him. And he was literally carving himself up and eating eyeballs, you'd think he would have woken up in "fear" if that was a thing.
Everyone in this world is not a stand user, which means he can instantly kill anyone if he didnt fuck around. Plus he's only 11 fucking months. That's like saying Silver chariot at 4 years old is weak because it couldnt do anything. Regardless of the user's intelligence, the stand is still not as powerful as it will be for an adult. It's highly likely that the range could develop into 30-50 meters by the time the user is 20 due to the B in potential. It is also possible that it would develop the power to sneak into a dream in the future. Combine that with the fact that it's literally impossible to tell you were attacked by it unless you carve "attacked by stand in sleep" into your arm, which is almost useless by the way. And you seem to be underestimating the range. Apparently even though it had an E, it was still capable of a *minimum* 5 meter radius because he caught both the dog and Kakyoin in range, which were considerably far apart. And that's just assuming the baby was in the middle of them and not further away, considering he should have been in someone's house at that point in time. It's already strong, with the potential to become way stronger than any stand in the real world.

4:16 I think you made an error there. Kakyoin wasn't so scared that he woke himself up. Polnareff just happened to wake him up around the time that the dog dies. Kakyoin even thanks Polnareff for saving him, despite Kakyoin forgetting the events that happened in the dream. Unless it's different in the manga or a bad anime translation
Im sure a few of these reasons are due to the user. Death 13 is best as an assassin stand but that directly conflicts with manish boys want for toying with prey. He lost because he gave up the element of surprise. Plus Kakyoin bringing out his stand at the right time was luck at best. But as a normal combat stand it does suck.

You bring up many good points but you glossed over the fact that the user is indeed only 11 months old. Him being only 11 months means that his stand has still awhile to develop to it's full potential. We know that stands develop while the user grows up through the Sethan arc. On top of that Death 13 has a B in developmental potential so we can assume that as Mannish Boy gets older that Death 13 would get stronger and eventually be able to counteract many of the things he cannot do that you brought up in the video.
Overall I agree that Death 13 is weak in it's currently state but I do believe that it could be even stronger as Mannish Boy develops, sadly we never got to see that. Anyways great video Meti

1. Enter someone's dream?
Sure, but it CAN pull anyone into it's dream world, regardless of when they started sleeping. My evidence for this is the fact that Mannish Boy pulled all of the crusaders into it's dream world, even though Kakyoin fell asleep way before the others (and I'm sure that everybody didn't fall asleep at the exact same second).
2. Keep you in it's dream?
Ummm, yes it can. That scene Meti shows of Kakyoin waking up screaming? Poulnareff was next to him saying stuff like "rise and shine" and "you finally woke up." I'm pretty sure that this implies Poulnareff woke Kakyoin up. Even if this is not the case, so what?
It still works, unless it scares you too much, which it did ENTIRELY for plot reasons (and maybe because it's a baby with no experience). Instead of sadisticaly scaring Kakyoin, Death 13 could've just silently appeared behind him and cleaved his head off. So it's not the stand's fault it's underutilized, it's the user's.
3. Hurt you before you wake up?
Bullshit. The only reason this stand didn't violently murder everyone was the sheer fact that the stand user was a baby with no experience. If Death 13 splits the crusaders around the dream world (which it can since it can manipulate the area at will) and then proceeds to kill them off one by one by appearing silently behind them and cleaving their heads off, it would have defeated them. all by itself with little to no difficulty.
Relying on part 3-4 stand stats isn’t the best idea

Also there was no mention of the *_B_* level *_G R O W T H P O T E N T I A L ,_* regardless of how weak the stand was when the Mannish Boy was a _baby,_ having such a high growth potential means if he was an _adult,_ the stand could be near unstoppable!

Despite its flaws, Death 13 could've easily killed the entire crew if Manish Boy waited for the middle of the night to attack. Instead, he attacked Kakyoin during the morning and later the crew inside a helicopter, creating the scenario that led Kakyoin to go to sleep with his stand.

Personally, I blame all the shortcomings on him being a baby. Mannish may be smart, but he’ll be too immature and his mental growth is already altered by being with DIO and having a Stand. Give him a few years, and not only do I think the Stand will mature, but possibly hone and expand his abilities. But, as it stands (hah), he only has the bare essentials and doesn’t consider the consequences of his Stand.

Now that he understands the possibility of someone carving a message into their body, it becomes very useful.
Can be used as an assassination stand by making the target fall asleep somehow like with some sort of poisoned tea... Or something... Even if you fail to kill the target they wont know that the dream even happened.
Also there's nothing restricting Death 13 from just killing the target immediately once they enter the dream world, Death 13 only scares Kakyoin because the user was a cocky baby.
But then, Death-13 also has what is arguably one of Freddy Kreuger's potentially greatest strengths: even if you know it is a thing that will attack you when you sleep, you will still not want to sleep and get attacked by it. Therefore, you will want to stay awake so that don't get attack by it, and eventually start succumbing to sleep deprivation and the many horrible symptoms that can manifest from that. So, I have to strongly disagree when you say Death-13 sucks, coz I think even that potential psychological impact it can have is more than enough to make it a decent stand.

But then what if you don't know who is controlling the stand, or it's range? Coz it's not like the characters could really know the range of effect it has, unless they found a way to test that? I'm sure if Mannish Boy grew up and practicied with his Stand, it would become more powerful, maybe even manifest in the real life as a Stand that, can go throught solid matter, float/levitate, use it's Scythe and, force people to fall asleep and make them wake up only when it says so

Giorno would have to know that he needs to activate his stand before he sleeps, GER would also have to know that, The only way for a stand to enter the dreamworld is if the stand user brings them in before they sleep.
Or how stupid the user is. If it had killed Kakyoin at the start of the arc, it may have scared Jotaro and the others into leaving, forcing MB to lose his targets, and since it’s a baby, not find them again. If it had succeeded in killing Polnareff and Kakyoin in the plane, it would be obvious that the baby was the user, and the group would just finish the baby off. And going with them wouldn’t have worked either, as they would probably have reached their destination alright since they wouldn’t have crashed. All in all, the Stand has potential, but a shit user. There are many Stands with problems, and Death 13, has more than most, but it had a slim chance. And the User wastes them.

Personally, I’d love to see Mannish Boy come back as an adult and with an improved stand (seeing as he has a B in potential). Perhaps he could induce some sort of daydream in which Death 13 can manifest itself and attack it’s target, as well as maybe improving it’s range, speed, and power a bit. Maybe it wouldn’t be as strong when manifesting itself in a daydream than it is in an actual dream, and maybe Mannish Boy would actually be able to tell the difference between something he made in the dream world vs something he didn’t make, meaning that a stand would actually have to sneak up on Death 13 without him noticing it. I don’t know though, I just figured it would be kind of cool to see a minor stand user from part 3 (that actually survived) come back, at least as some kind of cameo or something (maybe about to attack, but recognizing Jotaro, deciding it wasn’t worth getting ora ora’d, and running away) and Mannish Boy seems like the most obvious choice seeing as he would be an adult at this point. What do you guys think?

Polnareff was wait for Kakyoin to wake up, there is a full 2 and a half pages of Kakyoin waking up on his own and screaming. Polnareff like any reasonable person is trying to calm down the screaming man.

1. He can trap his victims ensuring they can't escape nor call for help or even fight back since they can't summon their stands while asleep. Which no, not everyone can do.
2. Even if anyone is lucky enough to be woken up out of the dream, they will not remember a thing, and given that the most important way to beat a stand is to learn their ability, this removes a huge disadvantage that not many stands can brag about.
3. They can do it from a safe and secure location, albeit still close enough to the target, meaning absolutely no one has any idea who the killer is. Hell, Kira would be jealous of D13.
Speaking of him, I'd even go so far as to say D13 is kinda comparable to Killer Queen's Bite the Dust.

I think he would be the perfect stand when it comes to assassinating a single target, all it has to do is to wait until the target hoes to sleep (preferably in a hotel or somwhere similar) and create the dream world then just simply finish him in one quick strike (I think Kakyoin only survived because death 13 decided to toy with him before killing him)
Thing is, Death 13 didn't know that Kakyoin was carving words into his arm. If he had known, he could've healed the wounds like he did at the end of the arc before they transferred into the real world.
Also Polnareff was the one to wake Kakyoin at first, he didn't wake himself up.

To be fair at the end of the arc we see that Death 13 could heal Kakyoin's wound, he just didn't notice it was a message. Conversely one could argue that if Death 13 cut the bullshit and went straight for the kill there was very little that Kakyoin and Polnareff could have done. That said it still has many flaws.

People will probably disagree, but think about it.... You can't use a stand to fight and you need to be around someone as they sleep to use the Stand. By that point, why wouldn't you instead just have your Stand kill them in their sleep? This entire thing only works if you're specifically in a situation where you can't kill make it obvious that you're killing them, but even then, unless you can make it look like one heck of a god-tier accident, any group would immediately realize "Oh, maybe this new guy is the reason why one of us is just dead now?

Okay, here's how the whole "Unconscious Stand" scenario works based on events in the manga and anime:
When you're a child (like that baby from JJBA4), and you have developed a stand, you have little to know control over the stand's actions, and could unconsciously activate it's ability based on the torrent of emotions and thoughts in your still developing mind. To bring your stand into the dream world, you need to fall asleep while the stand is out, which takes a lot of dream concentration (or lucid dreaming) for it to work. This is all hypothetical though.

The thing is that we've seen Koichi's stand evolve over time, this could potentially also be the case for Death 13, seeing as his stand is a literal baby.

I’d be too powerful against a stand like this because I’m the lightest sleeper I know. Plus whenever I have nightmares I can tell things are starting to go bad and I think to myself “hmm, no” and then I wake myself up. So he’d scare me and I’d be like uhm bye. I would loose a lot of sleep though...
This Stand has the power to heal others in the nightmare world. It isn't as useless as it seems

I'm guessing Jotaro had minor influence on Star Platinum back then. Basically thinking "Don't let this bullet kill me. Don't let this bullet kill me. Don't let this bullet kill me." Is what triggered the summon. It's also what caused him to use it against the thugs. He wanted to kick their asses.
I was always under the impression that that's where he first summoned SP. For some reason or other, they aggressed Jotaro (or he aggressed them, who knows?), and both sides got ready to throw down. Jotaro would've gotten bodied, but that's where SP first came and brutalized them all. The reason why Jotaro locks himself in that cell is because he was scared and wary of what his "evil spirit" could do. That led me to believe that it manifested for the first time there, not because Jotaro wanted to beat them, but without any input whatsoever.
I mean Jotaro himself is pretty strong without Star Platinum, he states that he beats most thugs hard enough to go into the hospital before he had Star Platinum.
He likely would have kicked their ass anyways.

The reason Kakyoin woke up at the beginning wasn't because of the fear he felt, it was because Polnareff shook him awake. He did mention that you can only wake up if someone else wakes you up.

Really? You forget one rule of stand users - stronger the stand, lesser the range. D13 can modify the body of the stand user (see Polnareff) as well as the dream world. Immobilise the user and bury them/break their neck. That's it. It'd be over for them. You'd need a ranged ability to take it down or sneak up on it. Considering it's durability is A, most ranged stands aren't gonna have much luck, especially if D13 stopped fucking around and killed them the second they entered his world.
For comparison, imagine D13 in the hands of one of Part 5's Hitman Team. Combined with the Grateful Dead, it's nigh unstoppable.
Plus, we see from Giorno's flashback about being able to use GE's ability as a kid while not being able to manifest his stand. Hypothetically, just like Giorno gained a punch ghost after growing up despite having the ability early on, Mannish Boy could also eventually manifest it in the real world.
Lastly, Sethan and Grateful Dead showed how physical age affects stands, while Koichi and Johnny showed how emotional maturity affects stand power. This is a 11 month old baby. It has decades to grow, and with his genius intellect, he's already got a 5 year headstart on most babies. A dev potential of B also means it can unlock more abilities or improve its own current ones.
D13 sucks only because the user was a cocky brat who played with his prey. In the hands of an experienced assassin, the SC would be finished before they even woke up in the dream world.

I feel like you're just rambling on about it's weaknesses and not realising how unlikely those weaknesses are to actually be exploited.
Mannish Boy wasn't able to realize that Hierophant Green was real because the possibility that someone would leave their stand active whilst they sleep is so rare he didn't expect it. I mean, most of Mannish Boy's success came from the fact that him being a baby was likely to lower people's guard. Had Mannish Boy killed Kakyoin quickly instead of scaring him do you think those weaknesses would of mattered. The only way someone would plan so far ahead as to activate their stand before going to sleep specifically to counter stands like Death 13 would be either someone that's unrealistically paranoid, or someone that already knows how Death 13 works. The first counter is a trait only seen in a handful of characters so it doesn't matter that much, but to deal with the second counter all the boy would have to do is kill them before they realise what his stand is. Like, what are they gonna about it, force themselves awake, oh wait, Death 13 prevents that. So really the fault there lies in the user, a literal *BABY* being stupid. And it may suck that it can't protect the user, but as long as the user isn't an idiot pisses people off for no reason, that wouldn't really be a problem.
You also seemed to ignore the fact that Death 13 has no weakness against any stand that has less than a B in durability, as leaving your stand active whilst you're unconscious isn't something that can be done with mediocre durability.
So essentially the only scenario where Death 13 would suck as much as you say would be when a stand user, who isn't afraid to curb stomp a baby, that already knows exactly how Death 13 works, decides to activate his stand, which either has an A or a B in durability, before they go to sleep and manages to sneak attack Death 13 before Death 13 can just kill the user. Any slight variation in that scenario and Death 13 is pretty much guaranteed a victory, but apparently he still sucks because he has weaknesses. SMH.
A lot of good points being made in the comment section as to why the stand could grow a lot. May I add the point that a grown man of genius nature, such as MB should become, can easily use Alcohol and Narcotics to his advantage and make his target fall asleep. And also most of the points made in the video are based on the user playing with his prey instead of killing them within seconds of entering dream land.
The only dream walker to appear in my dreams was queen scarlet randomly ages after a mostly forgot about them after only encountering them through a review that I watched 4 months before the appearance, the review freaked me out because I expected the hero’s journey instead of diet water ship down featuring dragons and the trolley problem.
Tho it'd be a great suport stand, since the cure he does in the dream world also goes real. if someone is fainted he can heal and wake him up

While the video is correct in respect to Death 13's ability in the context of part 3, many of the flaws of the stand (such as scaring the user awake and not recognizing that Hireophant Green was not his creation) are more flaws of the user. Though, that also raises the question of whether or not Mannish Boy directly controls the stand or if he is simply always aware of its automated activities.
Regardless, yeah. I do enjoy the video though.
I mean the sun is extremely powerful, but it can also kill its own user if said user doesn’t prepare ahead of time. Not sure why people consider it weak, its kinda perfect for killing multiple people who have nowhere to escape if the user doesn’t care about their own life, or if they prepare

When you made the argument that jotaro uses star platinum without thinking and that contradicted the rule of non stands activating when unconscious, you seem to have mixed up “subconscious” and “unconscious”. Star platinum and other stands have activated subconsciously without their users knowing.
You forgot that he's just a baby, he still can improve
I think this is a perfect exaple of good stand and bad stand user. The main issue is, if he just killed the person as soon as they enter, every problem would dissappear except the fact that he can't defend the user.
