i don’t think it’s alternating, i think it’s a hold vs tap thing where the tap is electric and hold is fire

I think you alternate between mode with down sig, becaus after a dsig, the spear keeps the flamethrower, and if you use ir again, they remove the flamethrower

If you look closely on the spear, all the fire sigs have a flamethrower attached to the tip. and on the DSig animation, the character either puts on the flamethrower 3:12 or takes it off 2:49
the sidesig also has fire/ lightning alternates

Wouldnt hephasteus rather use a hammer as a weapon with something secondary?
I assime this is some futuristic character, KABAL or some sort of soldier, similiar to isaiah. But i think Kabal is more fitting (the villain from times when sentinel was protecting the earth/city, and vector tried to come over to help aswell against him)
yeah and Hephaestus is a greek character, which yes, they can add greek characters (like zariel) but it's unlikely. I've been asking for Ares since Greatsword came out :/ @@Raviness.
@@HolyCrossed 1 greatsword is very unpopular, therefore bmg will treat just like lance and cannon (a character per 2 years)
And 2 it still isnt out of the question to happen.
I want a cannon gs or lance gs or Lance cannon character. Either of 3
But because bmg loves to prioritize highly popular weapons first, i dont expect to receive what i want anytime soon. This was one opportunity at it and its taken up by a spear cannon legend
If ares comes out, expect it to be a powerhouse of a legend
Edit: if you ask why, look at all the other gods or highly important characters. They become basically unnerfable in any major way.

As someone that got to try out the new character myself at BCX, I can probably offer some insight into how the spear sigs work!
Put short, all three sigs have two 'modes' (being fire and electricity) that you can toggle between using dsig. The ssig gains some extra range at expense of some force in fire mode, and vice versa is true for electricity - nsig, like you saw, gains a ton of force and range but it becomes easier to punish. Dsig switches on use, and the fire variant has a larger hitbox and more force yet it is also easier to punish. Hopefully this helps a bit for those who don't know how the sigs work.
My prediction is that its Kabal (sentinel's nemesis, a villain. And the guy that was the cause why vector came to be. Because vector tried to help sentinel fight him off or something in the lore)
Or its gonna be some soldier, similiar to isaiah. Or lastly, a futuristic soldier, closer to val.
Love the concept. Always had it in mind since cannon was added, but im disappointed its gonna be paired with a spear...
KABAL is an organisation, not a person. It could be Evilstein, the leader of KABAL, but the lore says he was defeated so who knows.
Baron Evilstein was defeated by Scarlet. And I’m going to guess it could be him.
Second guess could be Blackstorm from Vector’s bio?

Valkyries are known for using you know, more traditional weapons, and these are taken at this point. Only greatsword is the one thats free. We already have sword spear, axe spear, hammer spear etc
So excited for the guy in the random select to be given his own spotlight he deserves!
If you look closely, when using the fire version of the Dsig, in the first clip, he puts a kind of "flamethrower" at the tip of the spear, so that the sigs start to have fire and not shock. Whether this will be a new form of active-input or whether it will be a completely new mechanic, it is no longer possible to know. I'm looking forward to the release of this legend, after all, I hit the combination of weapons and I'm going to win a free skin!
my assumption is that with a quick tap, you use the lightning spear, but by holding you use the fire spear. pretty cool

I think it might not be a new mechanic and more like charged versions of the sig instead of tap, or maybe an active input at the start of a sig instead of the end.
the animator revealed it on twitter “Spear D sig is a “mode swap” that changes the behavior of the other 2 spear sigs :)”

I think what determines the element of the sigs is sliding, all the fire atacks are done while moving ( the downsig halts the momentum but whatever), while the eletric ones are either on the air or standing still.
there is some sort of doohickey that the legend is taking on and off to change the “element” of the spear, i wonder if that’ll be automatic or activated by a button

prolly has a mechanic w the spear sigs similar to arcadia, except this new kid can alternate elements / hit boxes depending on if u press the attack button once or press twice

Cannon and crazy movement sigs? They could get back to stage without wasting a single jump 😭
The sigs will most likely stop your movement upon ending, and/or having a lot of recovery frames when they're done, so i wouldnt put that already as a safe bet
as a cannon main cannon is supprisingly punishable when getting back to stage because you can't DI like you can with lance. its always a certain amount of force. also would not be supprised if the sigs full stop you/slow to compensate for being movement sigs.

If you look closely, most of the skins that are being fought by the new guy are mechanical, the only one who isnt mechanical, im almost sure this is a tease, and i heard from another comment that it could be Scarlet's arch nemesis from the lore! Super intresting

its definitely alternating, dsig acts as a bit of a mode swap. tried it myself at the tourney, the character is extremely fun and also gonna be wild on release lol
