they had to change it due to copy wright, listen to it on spotify it has the new lyrics

OK, so, as far as we know, the estate of Don McLean didn't have a problem with them using part of American Pie in principle, but the official written permission required by the record label lawyers didn't arrive in time for the album pressing, so they had to use the fallback lyrics. The 'original' version is pretty much purged from the canon now.
