That’s so nice of you to say! I really appreciate it. I wasn’t sure if people were interested in learning about hiking in nature as I was to do it. i’m so glad you are!
I hiked there once, in 2013, a little earlier in October. I thought it was a reasonably challenging hike, and very nice scenery. However, there was a major swarm of stink bugs that only got worse as the day went on. The morning wasn't too bad as the sun wasn't hitting the parking lot yet and it was a little cooler, but we started seeing more and more as the day went on, especially in pockets of sunlight on the trail. Before we started, we did see a lot of them inside the glass where the map is, and my friend was barely able to use the porta-potty because there were so many in there. By the time we finished the hike, it was warmer and the sun was in the parking lot. The swarm of stink bugs in the parking area was unimaginable. I don't think it's even possible to describe how many there were - just incredibly massive and dense. We had to run through the swarm from the shady area to my car while swatting them away, and get inside the car as fast as we could. When I got home, there were hundreds if not more inside the door crevices and other parts of my car, and of course some got inside the car while we were getting in. I had to take it to a car wash to get them vacuumed out. I've been back there but just to the winery.
That is disgusting and horrible !! I would have turned around if that happened! I had a lovely time so I’m sorry to hear your experience. The winery looked so nice.
@@Emily.Miller I try and average 8-12 miles every weekend when the weather is good. Add a backpack with 20-30 pounds additional weight and you’ll really get a good workout!
@@Emily.Miller I live in Connecticut, so many great places to go hiking/camping here in the tri-state area. I especially love it this time of year with the leaves changing colors!
@@Emily.Miller You are very welcome ! We are so blessed in the United States with so much natural beauty in nature. Can I record the beautiful little stream and put it into a loop and use it to fall asleep with ? When you slowly panned up the tree's with the soft stream flowing that was so peaceful and very relaxing.
Missing 411 channel has good suggestions on items he recommends when hiking…personal locator item he talks about the pros and cons…nature is so beautiful…
Thank you for that tip! It’s just my first try so I think I’ll stick to paths wells known and with cell phones working the whole time. I would f want to go alone until I learn mode. And yes nature is so beautiful and easy for me to forget living inside a city !
Ha! That is an impressive place for your one hike! I learned the paths don’t go straight up (I wish they did) but around and up the mountain so the uphill parts are not obvious except certain sections. It was fun. I’m glad I took up the challenge. But I took too much video of trees that hit the cutting room floor :)
Wowzers!!! Lovely trail!!! Now this is good content!!! (:

excellent!! no stabilizer? just the phone? well done
YES! I need to get a stabilizer to carry with me because it was hard to keep the phone steady while I was walking up hill on rocks !
@@Emily.Miller it was working quite well. iPhone 13?
Congrats!!! Great work Emily!!

One of my most favorite places on Earth. Great video!!
Really! I had never been there and I've lived in this area my whole life. I can't wait to go back!
Nice video!
Thank you!
Who do you think you're kidding? There are no mountains east of the Rockies! :p
Hey now-- I was with a friend who has hiked all over the world (he's in Utah now) and told me he considers this hike "challenging."
@@Emily.Miller Yeah, challenging trying to avoid all the tourista nauseatum.
You know I'm just giving you a hard time.

Mt Ascutney is one Mt really close to me. Haven't been my Washington yet, neighbors tells us July is a good time for that
That sounds lovely.
I’ve only climbed one mountain, to atop Durnstein Castle ruins above the Danube, about the same vertical climb, and it nearly killed me.

Was that 6 miles up and 6 miles down, or 6 miles total?
7 miles total in a circle. It’s like all up winding and then a short steep down.
