“Beratement of your character” sounds like these folks take the side of the notorious accuser. Glad this guy knows he was fearfully and wonderfully made. Phew! So that wouldn’t work on him long.
What a terrifying experience. Sounds like he almost got kidnapped via coercion.

Haha this is the weirdest church I’ve ever heard of! A compound? Nope! On the other hand a lot of churches are just a big building with hundreds or thousands of people, open to everyone, with no membership rolls and everybody is there for a Jesus concert and some Bible teaching. I go to one like that and I don’t find it weird or exclusive or controlling at all. :)
