My parents bought In April 1987 an -87 Syncro new. We put a spacious roof box on it, placed 2 mattresses in the cargo area and for the 3 consecutive summers of 87, 88 & 89, we drove all over west Europe through Norway, Sweden, England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland Italy and Monaco from 5-star camping site to another. It was the Grand Tour defining the upbringing of myself aged 14-16, and my little sister aged 8-11. What good times! I’d sure like to get one now for touring Europe with my boys at 12&14 yrs old. Summer of 2016 we drove to Germany in our Mini Countryman with a roof box and in 2018 we drove to Italy in our Opel Insignia sports tourer. Excellent holidays🥇🥇🥇
Brings back memories! I had an 89 Wolfsburg Carat, two 87 Syncros and one 87 "regular" Vanagon, two 93 Eurovans. Wonderful vans. (They made my mechanic a lot of money too). Good luck with the sale.
My buddy has an 87, gray in colour in B.C. He ended up swapping in a Subaru H6 from a SVX. It's so awesome. Needs some body work but other than that it's a great power-plant for that vehicle.
I love this Vanagon. I’ve driven the older Daytripper (?) with only a picnic In the back. This was a brilliant idea for video. I especially love those VW pickups and 4-door (Ducas?). Thanks for the video.

I think it was the "Weekender"
Yes. That’s right.
The four door pick up is called "Doka".
“Doka” short term for the German word “Doppelkabine” which means double cabin
Oh my goodness-I love this 😂
Ah man, is this the first of a “VanLife” series?! Well played Zack, well played.
I can okay imagine what he paid for that beauty
Wonder how much it sold for
i wish this belonged to me...
How much did it end up selling for???
How much did it fetch?
What did this sell for?!
Is there a modern version of this?
Vanna Gone!
Argh! Frank promised it to me.... Somebody talked him out of selling it to me :(
Where's the toilet? ;-)
I do not get it ,German engineering "usually" is pretty precise and Right! Why can they not Engineer VW reliability?
most unsafe car on the road, if you get into a head on collision you will get crushed. you're literally driving a cardboard box.
