This is amazing! One can only hope this opens the eyes of others to M.O.D.O.K.'s potential and get him the respect and representation he deserves, be it online or the tournament scene.
your combos are literally the best i have seen for MODOK. i started learning him about a month ago and i always turn to your videos for guidance. keep up the great work!!! Subscribed...
@borawserboxer It was evident from the rest of the video but that reply seals it, you are on another level. It took me like 3 weeks to get that sent relaunch combo down and there you are busting it out as an opener for a crazy modok combo that gets exactly the right damage to kill Thor.
Right, he landed so the tac was reset then he did another tac after sent drones when he went into the air, the character which just did its assist which in this case it was sent was not ready to be used again till you touch the ground with the point character(MODOK) so he will get skipped and the tac tag will go to the next available character which was wesker
You want to float them up as high as possible to make this easier/possible. Doing sj.M also floats them higher. So, slightly delay your super jump up-forward after your launcher, then do: sj.M, sj.M, L blaster, add(f), sj.S. You can mash sj.L after L blaster to see when L blaster recovers, then you can use that timing to do the air dash down, sj.S in the combo. Make sure you go to neutral after doing add(f), or you will get a TAC when inputting sj.S. Then, practice.
Hey man your alive 🎉🎉 what ever happened to you playing modok? Do you still play or upload videos? Man I saw this video like 10 years ago. Did you ever play competitive?
@@Fri0night I played SF games, but was never really a marvel player.. But I couldn't resist the training mode of MVC3 of course! I dunno why, but at the time I was the only one doing serious lab-work for modok so I happened to stand out (even tho I'm actually a terrible marvel player)
The up and down corner TACs are certainly doable on a good connection. You just need to get the timing down. The side exchanges are tough to go for though.
@spacesplaces press a quarter circle backward + Special, as soon as the slime hits to flight cancel the cr.M. For whatever reason it doesn't work if you just hold up.
If you Down TAC really really really really low to the ground (so low, you land before you finish the TAC) the character groundbounces as if they were TAC'd, but you don't exchange due to a glitch.
@C3lticlord It's mainly because MODOK has a LOT of moves that ignore hitstun decay. And I mean a lot. All versions of Balloon Bomb and Psionic Blaster cause soft knockdown, j.S causes a ground bounce, and f+H causes a wallbounce that turns into a strike that is jump-cancellable after the wallbounce gets used up. MODOK can also jump cancel all his heavy normals and airdash cancel every single air normal, allowing you to quickly squeeze in more hits before hitstun decay.
You just have to press a button and a direction for each 3 hit HBR burst (sans the first one, of course). Mashing it out will leave you usually high up, which isn't good since you are vulnerable until you touch the ground and you can be punished by assist calls, fast hypers, XFactor, etc.
Great video dude. good job. Can you do an online demonstration with him? id love to see you do this against some players. I want to see how you would set up these combo's and try to do exchanges. And if you could show some of his falty points as well. like who counters him and how. Please!
@reeceyfezza perhaps useless was not the correct word. I just meant that his play style is completely different, and I thought he would have more problems with the new hit stun deterioration
Completely agree. MODOK's biggest flaw though is how character specific some combos are. Air M M H S will not work on some characters (Storm comes to mind), some characters can get 4 reps off of c.H -> l.Cube combo in the corner, some characters drop out when doing the f.H fly cancel dash S, some characters will drop out of corner cube combos on the final f.H double cube. It's very confusing but once you learn the particulars MODOK is extremely strong.
Honestly, Although I get your point, every combo in this video is practical save for a couple combos in section 2. He's doing the combos with the stock 1 bar hyper meter at the beginning of every combo. So they are VERY practical... he's earning the meter during his combos. :)
Would you post a video showing the joystick inputs for MODOK's Hyper Battering Ram loops? It looks like some segments of the rams change direction in the middle of the thrusts instead of just in between them, particularly that midscreen one against Wolverine.
This video was ridiculous but that 1.25 mil meterless combo took the cake. I never even knew what analyze cubes did holyshit. And now that I think about it modok is really similar to doc strange.
sometimes it's because they went through all the hard to find a flashy or good combo they dont want it to be just handing it out to everyone. if you understand the game enough or your character you'll be able to know the inputs just by watching. the point of combo video's is to show the possibilities of the character so players can try to mimic or tamper with what was given to make a better combo, or a varient based on how your team works.
I like this video a lot! but i'm a very huge beginner with modok and I would really like to learn how to main him, so I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on him, why he's good, pros and cons, his playstyle, what kind of assists should he be with, just everything you'd want someone that is starting to main him should know, this would be greatly apprecieated! liked, favourited and subscrived! :D
Awww, i'm still here, but I haven't played in literally years... I actually tried to play casually recently with someone and was horrified at how crap my execution is now! Well, some things you never forget, but the finesse stuff was just making me angry. 😅 A blade gets dull if you don't hone it!
OK, I didn't mean SOLELY based off execution, but execution is a big part of it, because if you can do difficult combos (with benefits, i.e. damage, meter gain), difficult mix-ups/resets on command and consistently, then these low-tier characters would be you forte...I'm just saying, Zero, Spencer, Wesker, etc. are high on the tier lists because of their usability and how relatively effortless it is to do damage or mix the opponent up...
Oh that part, that was just a TAC glitch, when you tac low to the ground enough to the ground it cancels into its self since its too low for another character to come out giving you a free ground bounce and all he did after that was just calling his assist as usually, now every character can do that though.
@VINCIEHALO Modok has always been 20 ft tall, his head is that huge, it's been like that in the comic since his creation. Without his suit he has a normal body but a 15-18ft head
u ever think of doing a slow breakdown kinda teaching video of these combos? or even a modok tut? i would give all my moneys if u did dude it would be...glorious
when you use an assist mid combo into a tac the character that did the assist is unavailable so you go back to the original character when you do another tac
Lol... it looks legit. "Section 1: Basic Solo Combos" looks like it was really built in the game. Good job. I even have a toy of this guy a LONG ass time ago and I always loved his creepy fucking laugh.
Modok seems really hard ive played umvc3 allot on my ps3 days and never touched modok but i want to learn him an make a new team with him in it with like joe and deadpool i need to shake the rust off though havent played in like almost 2 years now mega rusty but shesh i will keep this video on my watch list so i can try to dupe these insane combos you got here. Also if anyone play on ps4 an want new umvc3 friends drop your psn ill definitely add yall 😁
9 years later this is still amazing. Modok was a hidden gem, hard to play but extremely rewarding
"I defeated a raccoon! SCIENCE!" - MODOK's victory quote vs. Rocket Raccoon
"I must admit... I've had my eye on your helmet the entire time..." M.O.D.O.K.'s win quote against Galactus.
This has to be one of, if not the most creative and entertaining combo video done for MVC3/UMVC3 yet, props!
Mental Organism Designed Only for Comboing
Yes indeed. MODOC.
When I use him, he is MODOK:
Mental
Organism
Designed
Only for
analyze Kubes
Thanks to Motempest I picked up modok in (roughly) 2014 and because of videos like this one I made top 8 at EVO '16. - Priest
This is amazing!
One can only hope this opens the eyes of others to M.O.D.O.K.'s potential and get him the respect and representation he deserves, be it online or the tournament scene.
It was my honour to watch such a saucy MODOK and by "saucy", I mean the look on his face for the Analize Cube. Well done, fighter.
Oh, and LMAO @ 7:39
EVERYTHING about this video is so pleasant. You deserved a thumbs up and a fav!
Those are some crazy combos! I never thought Modock was anything special, but after seeing this I won't take him lightly the next time I face him.
awesome combo video for one of the least played and highly unusual characters here this is great and shows off modoks potential really well.
I never knew modok was so rediculous! thank you for opening my eyes
your combos are literally the best i have seen for MODOK. i started learning him about a month ago and i always turn to your videos for guidance. keep up the great work!!! Subscribed...
i freakin love his analyze cube combo lol
There is absolutely NO REASON for anyone to dislike this video! It is absolutely flawless!
M.O.D.O.K. "Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing!"
seriously, I've watched hundreds of U/MVC 3 videos and by far this the best one
@borawserboxer It was evident from the rest of the video but that reply seals it, you are on another level.
It took me like 3 weeks to get that sent relaunch combo down and there you are busting it out as an opener for a crazy modok combo that gets exactly the right damage to kill Thor.
Very well put together video, wish there were more people using characters like Modok, Skrull, Morrigan...
This is some amazing science! I knew Modok was dangerous but I've never seen this level of tech...I want to be a Brodok.
This is a fucking awesome combo video. No forced practicality, no ridiculous high damage, just some really cool looking really tricy combos.
Right, he landed so the tac was reset then he did another tac after sent drones when he went into the air, the character which just did its assist which in this case it was sent was not ready to be used again till you touch the ground with the point character(MODOK) so he will get skipped and the tac tag will go to the next available character which was wesker

Years later I come back to see this modok gem. And still wondering is this man stil alive? If you are thanks again.

That combo at 10:20 left me speechless... That was amazing
The up and down corner TACs are certainly doable on a good connection. You just need to get the timing down. The side exchanges are tough to go for though.
Totally agreed with you man, in fact, the famous "Prodigy" 8 years old who made it to top 48 on EVO 2011 was using wesker all along
@spacesplaces
press a quarter circle backward + Special, as soon as the slime hits to flight cancel the cr.M. For whatever reason it doesn't work if you just hold up.
I think this is the one, guys.
My favourite video on UA-cam

This video really deserves more views. Great work everyone who made the vid.

You deserve an award or something for this video.
Man, hands down the best umvc3 combo video. great job!!
this title is probably a reference to the line he says after defeating a Rocket Raccoon (I just defeated a raccoon! SCIENCE!)
Honestly, Although I get your point, every combo in this video is practical save for a couple combos in section 2. He's doing the combos with the stock 1 bar hyper meter at the beginning of every combo. So they are VERY practical... he's earning the meter during his combos. :)
This is my favourite U/MVC3 combo video on UA-cam... Hands down
Hard to believe this mofo Modok is in this game. Dude’s basically a head in a chair with some psionic powers
god damn that frank west and modok full powered hyper psionic blaster into level 5 frank air exchange combo was amazing!
My body was not ready for those TAC combos. Why the hell isn't there more MODOK's out there?!
@Tombatant There is no new hitstun deterioration, it's absolutely identical to what it was in Vanilla.
Don't think I'll ever be bored of watching MODOK combos!
your video just get better and better and better!!
I just opened up this video and went to favorite it but I already had it favorited
This is godlike
Brodoks... Can't believe I never thought of that.
the best combo video that i've ever seen
Gosh with all this sweet ish, it sucks no serious players main Modok. Hope Jwong sees this and gets inspired...
that last combo was cool as shyt, the one before that was nice too
Modok is actually about 20 feet tall and has the limbs of a purportional human just not the head of one. That's how massive Modok is in the comics.
I needed this, haha. Great work as always.
Would you post a video showing the joystick inputs for MODOK's Hyper Battering Ram loops? It looks like some segments of the rams change direction in the middle of the thrusts instead of just in between them, particularly that midscreen one against Wolverine.
@Akihiko900 he turned on flight at 4:05-4:06 after the second anaylsis cube
All this time i thought modok was garbage. He just opened my eyes up to science
This video was ridiculous but that 1.25 mil meterless combo took the cake. I never even knew what analyze cubes did holyshit.
And now that I think about it modok is really similar to doc strange.

This dude needs to b crowned as the M.O.D.O.K. master...
I keep wondering what ever happened to borawserboxer?????????????????????????
I like this video a lot! but i'm a very huge beginner with modok and I would really like to learn how to main him, so I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on him, why he's good, pros and cons, his playstyle, what kind of assists should he be with, just everything you'd want someone that is starting to main him should know, this would be greatly apprecieated! liked, favourited and subscrived! :D
i think we are talking about different part's in the video, he didn't have a wesker on his team...it was modok, sentinel, and haggar
please come back...
Awww, i'm still here, but I haven't played in literally years... I actually tried to play casually recently with someone and was horrified at how crap my execution is now! Well, some things you never forget, but the finesse stuff was just making me angry. 😅 A blade gets dull if you don't hone it!
MODOK is such a dark horse. Swagneto is history. BRODOK is now.
That sent modok wesker tac was GODLIKE. A dead thor no meter and like 50 cubes.
Oh...I finally understand how he did the TAC back to Modok, Sentinel was still on screen.

5:30 Section 4: Slime Puddle with Overhead examples

Wish they had the button inputs on...
I had a feeling that was going to be a Bomb spam combo on Zero when I saw the first 3 bombs, but damn man. That was overkill-oh wait.
"If you think I´ve evolved beyond the joys of ignoring the hitstun scalling, you´d be wrong"
That kick combo was awesome!
He blinded me with his science
How do you glide down so fast after the airM, airMxxLight psionc blast so that you can connect the airH??
Oh that part, that was just a TAC glitch, when you tac low to the ground enough to the ground it cancels into its self since its too low for another character to come out giving you a free ground bounce and all he did after that was just calling his assist as usually, now every character can do that though.
this character needs so much more love
I didn't know MODOK was that kind of lethal... LONG LIVE SCIENCE!!! :D
@VINCIEHALO Modok has always been 20 ft tall, his head is that huge, it's been like that in the comic since his creation. Without his suit he has a normal body but a 15-18ft head
Damn. This video makes me want to try and use M.O.D.O.K. I'm impressed.
u ever think of doing a slow breakdown kinda teaching video of these combos? or even a modok tut? i would give all my moneys if u did dude it would be...glorious
At first, I thought the UMvC3 changes to hitstun would make MODOK (even more) useless. Now, he just earned a spot on my team.
It’s funny coming back to see a comment like this with Modok being considered top 10 or so for over 7 years now
That taught me a lot about Modok.
when you use an assist mid combo into a tac the character that did the assist is unavailable so you go back to the original character when you do another tac
SO. MUCH. SCIENCE. this was an AMAZING VIDEO!! keep it up!!
How this hasn't made the front page of SRK yet is beyond me.
06:15
LEVEL DANGER! D:
Frutsy did work with modok at evo.
Very nicely made, why does Tron have so much hit-stun deterioration and MODOK barely any D:?
Awesome MODOK usage
yeah I figured it out eventually but I really appreciate it! Thanks
Ah, what a FINE day for Science!
Lol... it looks legit.
"Section 1: Basic Solo Combos"
looks like it was really built in the game. Good job. I even have a toy of this guy a LONG ass time ago and I always loved his creepy fucking laugh.

bad ass man didnt know modok had all of this tech
I wish there were inputs on the combos do that I know how to do them
This is absolutely insane.
I'm on it!
Analyze - Watch Your Step!
Very nice tech i have a very different opinion about modok now. Id give you 3 thumbs up if i had them. Very amazing stuff keep it up bro!
Some sweet stuff due to this video im picking him up, i cant wait for the hate mail to fill my inbox once this is down pat in my head
