Rent An Army: How Much Does It Actually Cost?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 гру 2019
- Many people have heard the phrase the world's oldest profession and know that it doesn’t refer to soldiers, but on record the world's oldest profession is actually that of the mercenary. While today the word has an extremely negative connotation, in the past being a mercenary was a perfectly acceptable and even respectable line of work. In fact, it was only in the last few hundred years that standing national armies became the norm around the world, meaning that for most of human history wars were fought by men and women paid good coin to put their lives on the line. Today we're going to look at the use of mercenaries throughout history, and end with the greatest mercenary battle of the modern age.

Because they don't have fixed costs. If you want to hire some insurgents with ancient weapons, it's one price; if you want modern private army with artillery, tanks and air support, it's completely different story.
Kinda waste of time that they didn’t answer the question I need help
@no one To know that you would have to find mercenaries and ask them or get countries that use them to admit how much they spend on them for specific tasks most of which are black ops meaning it's never happening.

It also depends on what country the mercs come from, a lot of western mercs can get as is stated $600-mid $1000 a day. Some PMC out of South America pay their mercs $200-$400 a day. They are generally less experienced, well trained and maybe even armed but you could potentially get more total men for the same cost
@@darkone9172 where can't I sign in for Mercenary Job ? Do I need training first?

Title of the vid: "How much does a private army cost?"
Also video: *So guys, here's a thousand facts that does not answer the question.*
If you really wanted an answer, the cost depends on how long and how many soldiers you rent. A single mercenary (Or private military contractor) can cost in between 500 to 750$ a day. Let's say you need an army of a thousand mercenaries to guard a village in Syria for a week. So if the price of the soldiers is 750$ each for each day that would be 5,250,000$.
The Mercenary market boomed in the 90's and is currently worth 200 billion dollars.
You Sir, saved me from watching this video.
Pepe the Frog 5,250,000 PER WEEK
Actually it depends on the type of merc, too. $750 per day sounds like a Western mercenary, while I'd assume mercenaries from third world countries could cost less. $100 a day means you're getting super rich in some African countries.
Can u pls share ur source on that? I wanna read a little further.
I’d rather buy 10 African mercs for $100 a day. At least they have numbers.

@@chrisa5180 theres rookie mercenary. Different training for each mercenary. So imagine a lottery ballet. You pull out a ball and that ball is made in america, army, infantry. Now you take another ball, its from syria, army, crewman. Now take another and this one is in russia, airforce, gunner.
They are all mercenary, all different, they are hired based on their skill set.
I can tell you from experience, the lowest contract I have ever seen awarded was 6.5 million for 4 years, employing approximately 90 individuals at that location for the duration of the contract. So if someone quit or was injured, they had to provide a replacement as soon as possible after the incident. So if you need more personnel, or you need highly trained and skilled, or a specific skill set in those personnel, the price goes up for every extra bit that you require. So if you're talking several thousand personnel, you're talking several billion dollars. You can break down the math per year from the example i gave. If you need a basic security guard force for an installation, it's actually relatively affordable. However if you need convoy security, antiterrorism specialists, close protection, etc then it starts getting VERY pricey as the more skilled people are, the more you have to pay them to compensate them for their skill set and potential danger they will be in. Hope that helps give you an idea.

But war never changes right?
The Central African Republic currently relies solely on Russian private military contractors to train their armed forces, right now. Russian business interests also have exclusive rights to a lot of mineral and fuel resources in the CAR.
And why not? If it helps both countries mutually I don't see a problem, either. The CAR will keep itself from becoming the next Somalia, this way. And I'm sure that whoever is funding the mercenaries there is supplying Russia with plenty of resources and tax money.
I mean wouldnt it be better for the CAR to have access to their own resources and not have them be collected and consumed by another country? Its like an american banana republic. A russian african state.

Not really the same thing... I served with a lot of dudes, yet only a few actual Warriors. Most didn't sign-up to fight. Most signed-up as a life-option... college, bonuses, avoid going to jail, no other gainful/secure options, tradition, medical/family benefits... the list goes on and on, but you probably get my point. Mercenaries are fighters. They sign-on to fight. 180+ jobs in the Army, and only a handful are actually Combat Arms. Ever time I watch infographics show I always question their "evidence" and their "research" I don't know why
Because fairytales man
It is because the videos and information in them is gathered by people not old enough to drive and severely affected by national and patriotic propaganda.
Lack of links to sources tends to lead to that.
Their sources are in the description, last I checked.
If finding information on how much it costs to hire an army then you should just do it yourself without needing this video huh?
they should make a video on how the infographic show works. like the entire process
Didnt rome use auxiliaries of subjugated tribes instead of mercenaries, Carthage fielded mercenaries from Iberians mostly due their ferocity and shock troops used to break roman shieldwalls as matter of fact Carthage had a small army of its own and more them 80% was mercenaries from syracuse (sicily) and Iberia
Both were used
Auxiliaries are technically mercenaries as they are foreign aid paid to fight
Exactly. Rome didn't really hire mercenaries, they had a truce clause with nations that they won a war against that the nation is to provide soldiers, or straight up join as an ally with an obligatory % of the available manpower. Very different from a mercenary.
This video contains tons of historically incorrect information. For example, the Roman testudo was not remotely close to being an ancient tank. It was a slow and cumbersome formation that was only used in very specific circumstances (eg. during sieges to approach a defended wall) and left the soldiers vulnerable to melee and unable to effectively engage to close quarters combat. At the Battle of Carrhae, it is described that the Parthian melee cavalry charged the Roman formations whenever they formed into testudo formation because they were too closely packed to fight back effectively.
Intranet the Parthians fighting techniques bested the romans.
