They pump a TON of air into their ice "cream" (technically it's ice milk) which makes it so fluffy soft. It's also an extremely cheap way to make very low quality ice milk creamy (along with stabilizers like guar gum and cellulose gum which absorb water and keep the product from developing ice crystals)
The process by which they pump air into ice cream is called "over run."

The Reese's bar is PURE crack and I recommend everyone try it if they can. These videos are such a delight and I am finding the ones she does at home are just as great as when she goes out places. Julia is just a ray of sunshine that is here to brighten our days and I appreciate that.

So I’ve been in the hospital for the last month and found out about this series and have binged watched all of the episodes and am really looking forward to this episode
Viennetta is back???!!!! My grandma used to serve us that as a special treat when we were little. We called it ice cream lasagna ❤️. I can’t wait to find this at the store and take one to share with my sister!!!
Toasted almond was my favorite as a kid. I wish it was easy to find.

I remember Viennetta back in the 80s and 90s when it was a Breyers product. It's pretty different, but good. I love the strawberry shortcake, but not the Good Humor version as it has coconut. I can't recall who makes it without the coconut, but they're my heroes. Thanks for this! Orange Vanilla Coke tastes like eating a creamsicle while drinking a coke. ~Be Blessed
Toasted Almond bars were my #1 childhood ice cream treat choice. We had a dairy convenience store in my hometown and we would get to walk there once a week and could pick anything ~ and that was just it for me.
Hold up- I need to know more about this “dairy convenience store”??

Learning so much in this shoot. As far a Good Humor, my town only had the chocolate and strawberry bars, the cone and the cookie sandwich. The rest were the different character pops and bomb pops. Didn't know there were so many variety and might have to search my local ice cream aisle a little more thoroughly.
TIP for tummy trouble: Keep ginger root or ginger powder on hand or just buy ginger ale. It relieves tummy trouble within minutes of ingestion.
Sis is lactose intolerant too? She's right, we're gonna eat it anyway because we deserve it.

I'm so old that I remember the Good Humor candy bar ice cream bar when I was a kid. It was chocolate coating over vanilla ice cream, and in the middle on the stick was a solid chocolate bar. It was magnificent.

Someone used to sell a chocolate eclair with a chocolate candy bar in the middle - it was so awesome. The vienetta used to come in chocolate and it was also unremarkable
My guess on why the ice cream is so light and soft: I imagine that they aerate the ice cream mixture excessively before freezing it. It would probably resemble a mousse when it's in liquid form. This would have two benefits: 1, easy to handle and freeze in manufacturing process, and 2, less expensive ingredients required per bar. Just a guess, but I stand by it until proven otherwise. ;)

The Toasted Almond Bar was my favorite when I was a kid. But I loved all of the Good Humor ice cream bars. Good video. My mouth was watering!
I lived on the Southwest side of Chicago when I was a kid back in the 1960's, and I remember the Good Humor truck parked on the street right in front of the playground of my school during lunchtime. How convenient for us kids and the driver! He must have made a mint on all of those schoolkids.
in Malaysia .. the ice cream company is called Wall’s .. we even have local flavors particularly mung bean ice cream, coconut even corn ice cream
This video unlocked a memory I have of those Chuck E. Cheese ice cream machines. The one with the robot arm that would grab your ice cream up for you....I rarely got to use it but every time I did I went with the strawberry shortcake bar, and it was ELITE.
Good Humor started in Youngstown, Oh. The building is now our historical museum.

Company behind these brands is Unilever, Breyer is also one of their brands, so ur not wrong... The heart over the truck is Langnese, the brand that viennetta is sold under in germany...

The vienetta ice cream is just christmas/New year/sometimes sunday dessert in my family 😂😂 I hate it now. We have done that a loootttt, since I can remember we have this dessert. And i am 23 years old.

Upon some googling, I have seen that the same logo for good humor, or as an Aussie id say "streets", is used by multiple countries (and all the brands using this logo are owned by heart brand, unilever). For example other names for this ice cream brand in other countries are: walls ice cream, good humor, gb glace, selecta, kibon, algidia and ofc streets is AUS. I know that in Australia the flavours of ice cream for this brand are cultivated by the population taste e.g. the love for the "golden gay-time" and "paddle pop" ice creams. In America they also seem to have ice creams themed on popular items such as pop tarts. I would be interested to know what ice creams are signature to the brand in other countries 😊.
In Finland we also have Viennetta. I think the most recognisable one from GB glace aka good humour are the magnum ice cream pops. They have a lot of different flavors, but they’re basically a chocolate covered pop with different flavors of ice cream inside. They’re usually marketed as quite luxurious and the packaging is nice, not very expensive though. Also popular are the solero exotic pops, they’re these weird fruit pops with like a mango cover and creamy fruit ice cream with I believe pineapple sauce swirls. Personally I’m not a fan.
In Germany the brand name is „Langnese“ and I can‘t even name the single most popular item, because they manufacture most of the brand name ice cream products on the market. I would guess the Magnum range and the old timey classics like Capri or Cornetto might be at the top. Oh and the Viennetta was and still is really popular here. It always reminds me of my childhood best friends birthday parties.

I always have been a toasted almond girl. When I finally actually ate a real almond I was pretty pissed off 😋😤 according to my Father. I love strawberry shortcake too.
Raise your hand if you’ve only seen strawberry and now have an attitude because you won’t be able to try any of these. But the strawberry was fire as a kid. I haven’t had one of these in years. I’m going to have to buy a box. 😂
Good Humor strawberry shortcake has coconut which I can't stand. There is a company out there that makes it without coconut and they're my heroes, lol
We only ever had chocolate. After I grew up some, younger kids would show up with strawberry, and I'd be wondering what happened to the world that made /strawberry/ an option now.

I would assume there is a lot of overrun in the ice cream that makes it so light (more air churned into it, basically) as opposed to something like Häagen-Dazs with very low overrun and lots of flavor packed into it (that's why it's in smaller containers than the big generic grocery store ones that are also airy with not a lot of flavor).

Omg, so much nostalgia evoked when seeing that Viennetta! 💜 I used to get them for my son when he was little (he's 32 now) when they were made by Breyer's. I totally forgot they even existed, lol. I'm gonna have to bring one next time we go over to his place for dinner, sheerly for the purpose of reminiscing, bcuz if I remember correctly, the adults in the fam didn't think they tasted all that great (except for the mint flavor I got once right b4 they were discontinued). Curious to see now that he's also got an adult palate, if he'll still like them 💜

That good humor-branding is called ”GB GLACE” or ”GB Glass” in Sweden :) and the little heart is called Heartbrand which is used by most of the ice cream companies owned by Unilever (but all of the ice creams are different and they are created in the respective countries of the different companies)
