      Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, and taking notice of my informing tactics… When it comes to spiendinf money I try to find it everywhere and every way possible to justify it worthy of the investment… Unfortunately sometimes it requires me to pull the trigger without the confidence of someone I trust or know to give me proper info… I’ve been fortunate so far that everything has worked out, if not for the better. After watching year of UA-cam I know how I prefer to see videos straight and to the point with as much information in the time given rather than a long video with 10 minutes of beating around the bush and two minutes of information

      @@GatorOverland yes, I wonder if it will deflate enough and also be able to keep the bedding

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  2 роки тому

      It’s very possible… I know there is a special process to get to the bed considering the floor lifts up… But I do believe you would be able to keep in at least some thin bedding/fitted sheet or sleeping bags. It’s a 4 inch mattress that becomes about an inch thick when deflated after rolling. 3 inches is a lot of room for other things on an 80 x 52 area. If we lived closer I would definitely had included you as a option for a reference in the video..

    Subscribed. Love the flow of your episodes. Great job. Coming from a video production background you’re doing awesome. I mean that. Question. My wife and I currently have two built 4runners. I’m thinking about a gladiator and upgrading the wife’s truck to a land cruiser. 1. What’s the exact tire size you’re running? 2. Owning a gladiator would you buy it again. Thanks.

      Thanks so much for the positive insight! Always good to hear viewer feedback.. my motivation is to pay it forward and help folks, and I feed on constructive criticism. I am 57k miles of smiles and many adventures on our 2020 gladiator and Currently running 37s with 5.13 gears… We did about 20,000 miles using the stock 4.10 gearing, which is acceptable in our coastal flat region of Texas, but when you get up to the high altitude of the mountains it really suffers and reveals that under gearing.. managing the speed between 65 and 68 mpg I see 18-20mpg even loaded down with RTT and 300lbs of gear.. after experiencing a few midsize vehicle and about a decade of full-size vehicles… I can honestly say I was expecting a bit of sacrifice going into the gladiator, But hasn’t been that bad considering the size… Pound for pound and mile for a mile I will say it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned between creature comforts and road comfort… Obviously I built it to be comfortable, but when you have to drive 1000 miles one way to your destination, Road comfort is a priority… i’d be happy to answer any questions you have outside of UA-cam… Feel free to reach out… JKHARTEL3@gmail.com
      PS I have a soft spot for land cruisers.. would love to find a good condition 90’s 80 or GX.. but may a set with a modern yota/Lexus variant

    I wonder how much moisture will get trapped in it when inflating it in humid environments?

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  2 роки тому +1

      There is always that potential… It will be very minimal by comparison if you’re not using your mouth and only ambient air. With that notion it is probably good to leave the mattress either in the neutral state with open valves or in the deflated state when not in use.

    Good day, and thank you for your review on this product. I am thinking seriously of buying this product not for camping but for my apartment as a mattress for the floor. My question is, as I notice pretty strong back discomfort, and some pain, when sleeping without proper supports, did you experience any discomfort or pain in your back/lower back after using this mattress? I now have a king size mattress in my small apartment, but wish to change to sleeping very simply, and this seems a good option. I feel pretty good about the reviews on amazon and on video as well. For the price it may be what I need! If you may have the time for a short response, much appreciated. Have a very good day.

      Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment… The comfort of the matches is discretional between persons… By comparison of the original mattress in my tent this is leaps and bounds better… In my testing I slept on it for a week without discomfort vs the mattress that came with the tent was about 2-3 days before discomfort set in. I have since slept on it for about two weeks worth of nights without any issues… I also have some friends who have upgraded to this mattress and I agree it is better than the mattress that came in their tent… The main advantage is, it’s adjustable to your comfort… The long term comfort would be different between persons, but it could return the same result for you

      2.75”lift with 37” BFG KO2 all terrains is approx 77” top of roof, and top of RTT is 89”.
      My garage threshold is 92” so all is well for driving in to load up on the hoist.

    Hello, I’m wanting to store the mattress beneath our bed mattress, so flat. Should I store it like this inflated or deflated? Thanks.

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  11 місяців тому

      This mattress will compress down pretty thin… I’m not sure how thick your current mattress is, but it may work to keep them both in there… If you just leave the valve open, it will naturally deflate as needed to make room when compressed… It might be enough

    • @shyrlallegretti540

      @@GatorOverland Thanks for getting back to me. Are you saying the Airlax mattress should be deflated while storing it beneath a regular mattress, or inflated?

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  11 місяців тому

      I am saying go with whatever allows you to store your tent properly… I’m thinking deflated would probably be the best.. you can leave the valves in the deflate setting, and it will not re-inflate when the tent is opened until you open the valve… Basically making a vacuum seal… I’m not sure what your current tent is capable of storing while folded up… I would say, try it before doing anything else

    So is this too big for the IKamper mini? How does it fit? I know the single would fit, but what about the one you’re showing?

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  2 роки тому +1

      The Airelax double mattress is 80”x52”
      According to the ikamper website the
      Skycamp mini 2.0 is 83”x51” (snug fit)
      Skycamp mini 3.0 is 83x52” (perfect fit)🤘🏼
      I hope this answers you’re question. Dimensionally it should work in both, but in the 3.0 it’s like it was made for it!

    How thick is it when deflated unfolded?

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  Рік тому

      If you deflate it and press all the air out with the valves set to only allow air out it squishes to about half size, so about 1 to 1.5 inches thick..
      In the neutral inflated state, it’s about 3 inches thick. Other than firmness, I haven’t found it to really increase much height when inflating additionally after the neutral state. Let me know if this answers your question.

      20k miles of camping an no issues to date.. no leaks or cracks or hinge issues.. it’s been nothing less than great.. we may be upgrading to a condor overland as we have added a baby girl to the family since doing the video. It will be fine with her until maybe pre-k age which gives us a few years to save some money for the upgrade. Let me know if you have any other questions.
      I also have some camping coordinates available in Colorado and Utah. If you would like to email me, I will shoot them to you. Jkhartel3@gmail.com
