I also use clear tubing on all mu fixed blades. Easy, cheap and functional.

I have an old pack of cards. Take a card and fold it over your blade and then keep folding it until the entire card is folded up. Tape it closed with some duct tape and you have a custom fit blade cover that is actually quite durable.

Any hints about covers for carving gouges?

I used my hot glue gun to make a blade shield, just place knife on grease proof paper and cover blade in hot glue, while still warm shape the glue around the blade, then before it sets too hard just jiggle the blade out, when set you have a made to measure blade protector.

I'm curious about your flextcut pocket knife setup. I have the same knife, but I've not gotten a decent small strop/stone or a carrying sheath. Mind sharing which small stone you use and where you found the sheath?

I found both of mine on ebay.
The sheath is a basic leather sheath for pocket knives 4" long, only cost about $10 USD
The diamond plate is a DMT mini sharp extra fine. It was originally for keychains but I modified it to fit in the sheath. It isn't perfect, but allows me to fix a dull edge while out on the go. It doesn't hone like I want it to and am still trying to find a good replacement for a leather strop on the go.

Thanks. I have the DMT dual sided folding ones but they're a little long to fit in a sheath well. Was curious. I too would prefer a leather strop for on the go but making it not too bulky or messy is tough.

Pool noodles, cheap and versatile. Cut to length and cut up into sections like a pie just stick the blade in,, they can be reinforced with duct tape by wrapping. Pieces of pool noodle can also be cut in half and glued to pieces of wood as a easy knife holder you can stab or cut into.

I use the clear tubing that my knives came in or cut a piece of hose

Same, no need to go out of your way to get a sheath if it already comes with an acceptable substitute.
