They've come a LONG way. In the beginning the vokills were just so over the top yet still so raw that it was a bit hard to take over long periods of time. But they have really locked in, found a pace that hones the main vokiller from drawing out the words so long that they became scratchy ... now it's perfect. Freaking good
Love the uberheavy psychedelic groove and frenetic vocals of Abre Camino. Sort of a psychotic blend of Thirteenth Floor Elevators, early Sabbath, and The B-52s. Really good!
Loved these folks ever since I saw them open for my idol Roky Erickson! Excellent performance here and KEXP's funky lighting experience by Mad Alchemy was a real trip! BIG thanks to everyone involved!
I just LOVED this joy and splender interview. DVG is the cutest totally bad ass band I know of. Musically, drums and bass are as driving and compelling as it gets. Lead guitar - umparrelled - I mean that absolutely literally, no hyperbole! Bonny, as perfect a rock and roll sprite as has ever existed 💮.
Wow: Abre Camino, I think 1967 is calling! I used to listen to this kind of stuff back in the early 70's with my friends older brother and his buddies when they were doing things none of us had any business doing!
So, so, great! Rip-roarin' tunes, delightfully insane and cute musicians, I only wish they'd spent some time talking to the gnarly bearded guys playing what looked like intergalactic portals...
saw you guys last year w/ Starclawler, sound so heavy, but spirits so light, just missed ya at noise pop, but man, next time, i am there! ( great mix as usual KEXP!)
Looked like they were trying for a Squid Soup effect and didn't quite pull it off. But hey, it's an experiment, a work in progress, and I'll be watching their progress.
Having seen that effect in media since the 60s, I've always figured it was something along the lines of a hippie mixing colored oils with other substances on an overhead projector. Hmmm...
Their guitarist is Larry Schemel, brother of Hole’s Patty Schemel, so they have a big time Nirvana connection in Death Valley Girls. And Patty actually was one of DVG’s early drummers.
If KEXP chose this aesthetic, and plan to do it again, I hope they do something to make the orbs more reflective. Maybe add a coating of something shiny to them? They don't seem to reflect or compliment the lights all that well.
This is my first time listening to them and I was blown away I absolutely love this band !

I feel like something very special is happening in the waters of rock once again. New waves of creativity are flowing in.

I keep coming back to this session again and again. Love this band.

Powerful music from nice people. Like it! They must love Carlos Santana, too :-).
Yeah track 3
Lol... right?
saw you guys last year w/ Starclawler, sound so heavy, but spirits so light, just missed ya at noise pop, but man, next time, i am there! ( great mix as usual KEXP!)
Exactly. DVG use dark to create light. Everything returns to good, if you pound it right.
Experimental lighting is lost against the ping-pong ball backdrop.
Agreed. Would probably be cool at a venue with sheets, etc., but KEXP was perfect without it.
Looked like they were trying for a Squid Soup effect and didn't quite pull it off. But hey, it's an experiment, a work in progress, and I'll be watching their progress.
ON the contrary. I think it looked different and nice.
@@jas_bataille id like to learn how to do that, if anyone knows please let me know.
If you guys ever get the chance to have Tash Sultana on KEXP please take it! This show is dope as usual :)

Get you someone that looks at you the way the leads look at each other. #mirin

Guitar sound like the early Cobain stuff. "Bleach" era.
Their guitarist is Larry Schemel, brother of Hole’s Patty Schemel, so they have a big time Nirvana connection in Death Valley Girls. And Patty actually was one of DVG’s early drummers.
Yep, agree.
@@OriginalGrasshopper Oh, i wasn't far off then. Thanks for the information
@@OriginalGrasshopper golden info over here, thanks for that
Nope

Maybe by spraying some clear resin and blow some glitters on them?
sick telecaster deluxe
WOMYN ROCKIN IT!
what the hell are those two guys making lights? haha
DJ has a crush on Bonny
Everybody has a crush on bonny
0:24 - Abre Camino

Troy is doing a Nardwar.
Haha yes! 100%
I like when there is that type of interaction between the interviewer and the band members
Awesome band, street justices starting guitar sounded like ballroom blitz to me.lol
