Earth Wind and Fire are great. Philip Bailey is their lead singer with a five octave vocal range. He could hit high notes that very few people can.

The term is called falsetto, it is a high pitched artificial voice used by male leads in vocal gtoups. The singer is usually a tenor who is able to go an octave or two above. During the 70s the falsetto voice was en vogue, every r&b/ soul group had to have a falsetto. Many songwriters wrote songs with a falsetto lead in mind.Incidentally the term falsetto derives from the Italian word falsa which means false. It literally means false voice.Bt the way ,the singers name is Phillip Bailey and he has a five octave voice.

Mom is a TRUE fan of Earth, Wind, and Fire! Their "sound" remains in one's heart and soul forever!! Ah, 1975...memories!! Now, only 5 of the "Classic" 9 members are left. Here, Maurice White (drums) and Don Myrick (alto sax) are not with us today. But, the group is still on the road!!

    • @kevinbradshaw9320

Maurice White was not the drummer of the group, Maurice's youngest brother Fred White (who recently passed away) was the drummer. Their other brother in the group was Verdine White (bass).

Hi there ladies! Just discovered your channel today. I know I'm a little bit late, but better late than never. I know that you commented on the vocals and that you liked the range. If you decide to venture out of your comfort zone, there is an absolutely spectacular artist, and in my opinion, the greatest vocalist in this generation. His name is Dimash Kudaibergen. He can sing in roughly 10 different languages. I would recommend starting with S. O. S. Keep up your great reactions.

"Earth Wind and Fire is the baddest band ever created on God's Green Earth" - Steve Harvey. and I could not agree more. Reason's is one of those songs that sounds just as good today as it did almost 50 years ago. One thing of note is that this is not really a romance song and probably should not be dedicated to someone you love. Surprisingly I know people have used this as their wedding song, but if you pay attention to the lyrics it is really about what was suppose to be a one night stand - it start off with "I'm craving your body just for a night" and then talks about how the reasons they are together will "disappear". The happy ending is that surprisingly "I can't find the Reasons why my love won't disappear". Great lyrics, great music and a vocal performance that can't be topped by anyone.

Thank you for the insightful comment! I will have to pay more attention to the lyrics when mom and I do the album version song. I was distracted by his amazing vocal skills and all the instruments! I definitely understand why this is one of my moms favorite groups of all time

@@generationgapreacts Here are the lyrics. It is a good news story at the end, but should not be used as wedding song.
      Lyrics
      Mmm-mmm-mmm
      Now, I'm craving your body
      Is this real?
      Temperatures rising
      I don't want to feel
I'm in the wrong place to be real
Whoa, when I'm longing to love you
      Just for a night
      Kissing and hugging
      And holding you tight
      Please let me love you
      With all my might
      Reasons
      The reasons that we're here
      The reasons that we fear
      Our feelings won't disappear
Oooh, and after the love game
      Has been played
      All our illusions
      Were just a parade
And all our reasons start to fade
      (La, la, la, la, la
      (La, la, la, la, la)
      (La, la, la, la, la)
      (La, la, la, la, la)
(La, la, la, la, la, oh)
      All our reasons why
(All our reasons were a lie)
All our reasons were a lie
      (After all our reasons)
      (Love was left aside)
      Love was left aside
      I'm longing to love you
      For one night
      Please let me love you
      With all of my might
      Baby, oooh, baby
      Yeah, reasons
      The reasons that we're here
      The reasons that we fear
      Our feelings won't
      They won't disappear
      And after the love games
      Have been played
      All our illusions
      Were just a parade
And all the reasons start to fade
      And in the morning
      When I rise
      No longer feeling hypnotized
      For now reasons, our reasons
      Our reasons had no pride
      After all our reasons why
(All our reasons were a lie)
All our reasons were a lie
      (After all our reasons)
      (Love was left aside)
      For all our pride
      Love was left aside
      Hey, yeah
      Oh, yeah, yeah
      Ooh, baby
      I can't find the reasons
      That my love won't disappear
      Can't find the reasons
      Why I love you
      Baby, my dear
      Can't find the reasons
      Wanna love you all night
      Can't find the reasons
      Gotta squeeze ya, real tight
      Can't find the reasons
      Baby, yeah
      For my tears
      Can't find the reasons
      Why I love ya
      Why I need ya

I will say that this song I can sing more easily, But Most have not heard the other songs of Phillip Baily. Of course, the song you are talking about most people have heard. Now listen to the song that, (surprisingly most people have not heard). By Phillip Baily. "I write a song for you". The other is "Imagination". I can sing those song, but not like Phillip.

@@generationgapreacts It sounds like both of you are experienced Beatlemaniacs? If Daughter was a newbie I would suggest starting with their early work and going forward from there so she could experience their incredible growth and development over the course of just a few years. Otherwise, I'd love to hear your take on songs like This Boy, Long Tall Sally, Eleanor Rigby, Drive My Car, Nowhere Man, Norwegian Wood, Come Together, I Want You (She's So Heavy), and Back In the USSR.
