I love that when Chinese to a foreign country to work, they always speak (or at least try to learn) the language of that country. Unlike some Americans and Europeans who expect people to speak English to them even they're in a different country...

Good job Willliam! Russian is a soul crusher. I watched a roundtable interview with 6 hyperpolyglots. 5/6 said Russian was more difficult for them than Mandarin
The insistence on Mandarin being some ultra-hard language is a bit orientalist. It has no conjugation, and the grammar is incredibly straightforward. People tend to overthink the tonal aspect and the characters have a structure which is again, not that difficult.
@@henriashurst-pitkanen8735 Yeah orally Mandarin is super easy. It's literacy that's difficult.
Well, I am learning Chinese here in Brasil with Chinese people and I can say it's very interesting, but definately not easy. I thought it very informative. The Russian people are friendly and the chinese man is carismatic.
Hi! I am from China and I now study here in the United States in the state of Rhode Island, and there are lot of people with Portuguese/Brazilian descent here. the russian attitude towards china is very different within different groups. Some people from Siberia really hate china because they think we have cut all their wood, and sucked all their lake...i dont really know why would they think that.
While in european area people dont really know china at all. Also older russian have a really different perspective with other younger russians. As a chinese who studied in russia before, i would say in general the reputation of china is pretty bad in russia.

I don't think he's Chinese from China. I'm Chinese-American and his accent sounds like he's from the United States, not China, to me. Our history is not set in stones, what history can provide us is only hypotheses of the past, some more likely than others, as it's physically impossible to return to the past. People choose what their versions of history to fit their worldview and values. If you pull out of article on the internet to prove one thing, others can pull out probably others to prove others. One should especially be cautious with Wikipedia sources as it's user edited. There's no historical consensus on the subject that you're trying to argue on. Russian sounds like Portuguese.
@Cplusplus Dude
I'm just joking, because a lot of people say that Portuguese sounds like Russian.
Very different actually. ☺
There is some truth to what he's saying, actually. There is a lot of coincidence between the phonetic repertoire of European Portuguese and Russian. Both languages tend towards the iotization of some vowels (as in "день" [day]; /dʲenʲ/); both of them make extensive use of the close central unrounded vowel phoneme ("ɨ" in the IPA; "ы" in Russian; present in a word such as "dente" ["tooth"] in European Portuguese, pronounced /'dẽ.tɨ/), which is extremely rare in Indo-European languages; both languages also use alveolo-palatal fricatives a lot, such as the letters "ш", "щ", "ж" in Russian and the plurals in "-s" in Portuguese, which are almost always pronounced as "-sh", as in "ideias" [ideas]: /i.ˈðɐj.ɐʃ/; finally, both have a tendency towards treating many different unstressed vowels as schwas.
Of course, all this only applies to European Portuguese, which sounds completely different from Brazilian Portuguese. The main dialects of Brazilian Portuguese show almost none of the characteristics I described above (except for the "-sh" plurals in Rio de Janeiro and some specific regions in Northeastern Brazil).
