TLDR: Damon Wayans when he was on the 1985-86 season of SNL didn't have the same opportunity to showcase his humor about the African-American experience as he would have with his own show due to how white-centric SNL was at the time and how SNL was dealing with its own problems with a disjointed cast and writing that no one appreciated at the time. Just be thankful he had his own sketch series on FOX back when it actually was edgy and subversive.
