The whole time i'm saying "use the sniper, use the sniper."
How can they stay that calm on such an exposed position, also why are some of them not wearing a helmet during combat. Pretty impressive how they were handling such an intense situation.

That’s the difference; we take the fight to them. Fire superiority is all well and good, but when you control the battle field you gain all superiority. That second element allows you to distract fires so you’re able to close width and destroy. Taking away their ability maneuver and them controlling your battle field. And if there that close to plant ied's then your men on post and over watch aren’t doing their job.
Basic training in Finish army. Place pine branches on both sides of an shallow and narrow trench. Pour napalm on the branches and light the napalm. Run through the trench in full combat gear while covering your face with ski mask and with your weapon. This combat drill was performed during the first month of the eight to eleven months military training in 1995 when I was in the army -and hated every damn day. What did you think? That we ran through the trench naked.
@848Travis It's difficult without proper training to be able to achieve such a feat, and we don't even know if he knows how to operate the M107. Putting a bullet that's little over a centimeter in diameter into a specific spot several hundred meters away is not easy, especially when you're shooting at a target that doesn't sit still. They aren't snipers, they don't know how to properly operate the systems.
And even still, machine guns and grenades are the much more effective defensive tools.

You fire off a few shots with a sniper rifle. Sure, it may be more accurate, but it is far slower and less psychologically damaging. It is not holding them back, they will continue to advance.
Fire on them with a machine gun though, with the amount of bullets flying at them, they have no chance but to seek cover and be pinned down. This in turn will slow them down and prevent movement.

I'm pretty sure you are aware they are in a firefight considering they are all just sitting or standing they shooting. And I would rather have all of those but that wouldn't matter because on patrols they have most of all gear on or beside them at all times.
@ReachDeep1 The use of machine guns is basicly to suppress the enemy. There are Bullets flying all around them, so they have to take cover and are not able to shoot you. If you only shoot with sniper rifles, the enemy will suppress you and you will have to take cover. Also, not every soldier has the physical and mental abilities for beeing a sniper. They are elite.
So a snipver is valuable for every Fireteam, but a Fireteam without MG's/Assault Rifles would be quite ineffective. ;)
@crackparty It's not like a fucking movie or video game, the combat isn't going to take place within 100 feet of the two forces, I have heard of Marines who were taking out target with an M16 at 600 meters in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Maybe in the initial invasion, but now, the Taliban resort to spraying an AK-47 into the air at a convoy from 1200 meters away.

@1998disco72 how many people died on 911 compared to how many US soldiers have died in the war? also, how many innocent peoples lives have been completely torn to shreds just because they happen to live where these radical psychopaths live? how many innocent people have been caught in the crossfire and unintentionally killed ?
i love mortars, in a funny little way, i think the mortars from WWII were cute.... cute little exploding footballs... at least thats what they look like to me, kind of ovals with fins :) love mortars. could imagine that they are quite useful in fighting in open area's.... but in cities collateral damage would be a problem
@ReachDeep1 Also mean too add in there. Patrol Detachments do not always have Snipers on stand.. Also for the amount of time it takes too setup a sniper I could pullup an M240 and just light that guy up.. Again though not all Detachments have Snipers at all and if they do most of em arent going too use em..
these videos can get so boring sometimes, every time you just see them shoot into some trees, but then again, i'm in no position to complain, being that there out there fighting a war, and i'm on a chair just wanting to see cool explosions acting like it's a game, but one day, I will join wants i'm old enough.
I can't believe people are grudging the waste of bullets. What is the army supposed to do? I'd happily pay for the ammunition they used out of my Christmas money. There are worse uses for money all over the place but I think the army probably gets good value out of their bullets. Even when they are spraying at something they can't see. Do what you've got to do to stay alive and good on you.
@ReachDeep1 That's IF you have a clear sight picture on the enemy. Not to mention it's expensive to train a sniper. A sniper is 95% reconnaissance and is a major asset. They have marksmen which do the job just fine. Not to mention most soldiers now have ACOGs and modern optics that make them plenty effective. Shooting a long range bolt action rifle isn't like COD or a video game.
@givemeaname55555 I think it's suppressive fire, if you were a guerilla, and you were fighting against Americans with machine guns, and they would constantly shoot around you I think you would be scared. Well that's at least how the their enemies feel, in videogames, war is physical, you shoot to kill, but IRL it's psychological. After-all I don't know many people that would want to die. Or at least not stupidly.. That's why they all stay in cover instead of rushing to the enemy.
@snoken90powerkiing Grenade launchers are far more effective on suppressed targets than a Sniper Rifle. The Machine guns is providing the suppressive fire. The grenade launcher is then used to eliminate the enemy once they are pinned into position.
GE F50, the link at the beginning of the clip about the vets with PTSD doesn't work. As a disabled vet with PTSD (Vietnam) I am interested in this. If you have a URL or email address for this program I would appreciate some info

@14goldmedals There is a guy with a map and binoculars observing the targets, and the dude with the grenade launcher is pointing in the enemy's direction. If it would be a "mad minute" i dont think they would hide behind cover that much.
i watched many of these footage but it is always like if they are training? how the hell should get usa marine's get their asses up that little village building with placed bags and all set i'm not saying it's fake but you know what i mean

marines is a high school diploma, no felonies on your record, minimum of 32 on the asvab, and meet the height and weight standards. i hope you know that you arent going to go to afghanistan and get shot at every day so you can pop some rounds off. afghanistan is lots of sitting around and being bored with an occasional round or two snapping overhead.
why are they wasting so much ammo just to shoot at nothing? they have an M107 and a M24 there so they can scan the horizon for potential targets! they should be more conservative, cuz ammo costs a shitload of money

I get what your saying about that, but why are they not using the SDM's to eliminate the insurgents, you would think that the 50. cal would be able to effectively reach out to what they are shooting at.
@OMGBIGFOOT its in a desert, its hot and you dont always know when a firefight will break out, would you rather have your machine gunner or suppressive fire run back to get their tac vest or a helmet, think before you post
@MobsterMayhem They are suppose to be in a firefight but the guy in front of him is not wearing any armor. My brother is over there and they all get covered in gear so you don't perhaps get hit by a bullet.

m40 or something, same goes for that one.. dont expect to pick up a rifle and start killing shit.. taliban are not completely retarded.. they fight from cover and are often hard to spot.
@ReachDeep1 If the enemy is in any sort of defilade or behind a building its pointless to use a sniper rifle. The machine guns are using suppressing fire while others use 40mm grenades and hit their targets.
@chrissteezybezzy Do some research. It was never 50mm. Also, this was my battalion, I was in a different company and saw twice as much firefights as these scouts. What would I be assuming? Shut up, troll.
@rabihz24 i don't know the exact number but for every enemy combatant killed thousands of rounds are shot. its called fire superiority, shoot more at them then they can shoot at you and chances are you're gonna hit something
I bet someone went to shoot the M107 and some one told them they couldn't use it unless they were qualified on the weapon system, had a sniper tab, was given a proper safety brief on it, was wearing a kevlar, wearing eye pro, and wearing a reflective PT belt.
@ReachDeep1 well think about this my friend....Do you want the enemy to be scared or do you want them to have fear? if those sniper rifle weren't in the video it would be because there shooting from the back of us while we suppress them...shot first ask questions later...
@sanakassara very, very far away. (this is on a training range btw) but most firefights occur at upwards of 100-300 meters and longer if you've got the weaponry. Combat isn't like cod or Bf lol
@fable2omg I think they should send the civvies who criticize our troops into the fight so they won't use suppression and then the enemy will be able to flank and kill them. Apparently they know better.
The military now days is nothing more than security for corporate America at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer. Think about it. Give it some thought and you will eventually come to the same realization.
@HorseyNO Those are rare for obvious reasons. I remember seeing a video of Danish troops where one started shooting into a forested ravine but you don't see the Taliban until after they're dead.
@noahproductions12 Its not point and click dude, even with your airsoft guns you aught to know that. I'd like to see you pick up any rifle and simply start dropping targets at these ranges, under fire, considering they are so "easy to use".

There are 2 of the best sniper rifles that should be in use as they are in range and while scoping in actually get a better idea of were the enemy of firing from because shooting Granada in all directions is diopside
Is it just me or do most of these combat videos look like they're wasting ammo because they're out of range entirely? I also haven't seen a single video on this channel yet where it actually showed any enemy targets.

And understanding it being an outpost means that the cop or fob is not too far away so you are able to coordinate fires with subordinate’s and shape your scheme of maneuver
That weapon is zeroed to its user. The weapon will not work effectively with another user. This isnt MOD. Weapons are zeroed to its user. Target could be off by 3 feet.
Logic not to use sniper is simple when you fire 10 000 bullets you will not miss them all. Machine-gunning is 100 year old defence tactic. Only tanks can break trough.
Great vid... but a couple questions. How much fire was coming back? I wouldn't be so worried about camera position. When do you choose to wear/not wear a helmet?
@HiCapacity No, my brother is over there. I see and hear stuff not many people do. And yes, it is always around 110 degrees. and at night it gets pretty freakin cold.

Supression. The MG isn't meant to be fired accurately. These guys look like rear support, prob laying down fire for the movement of forward operators.

Distance gives them cover, the US troops you see here can probally not see the talibastards anyway so they respond with quick suppresion fire.

@MATLOCKATWAR That's an M320. We haven't fielded the XM25. M320 fires 40mm HEDP rounds. The XM25 fires 25mm airburst. So you are wrong.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Target at reasonable range, there is an M82 that can reach 5x pass that. Why not use it?
