50 miles northwest of Houston-Bellville. The last three months we’ve had devastating baseball size hail storm that damaged our work trucks, business building, and country home. The next month-tornado right through our small community-we still haven’t cleaned up all the downed trees and torn fences. Today more high wind damage-tree took out our chicken pen-4” swirling rain and no power till tonight-thank you God! But over 2 million homes within 50-100 mile diameter around us including our grown children and their families, out of power still. One son and his family flew into Dallas from overseas this evening and will be arriving tomorrow for a much needed 2 week reunion. What a crazy summer….so far!
@@ataye1 Oh no. We are very summer. Hot hot hot. But somehow we have had A LOT of rain this year!!!! Which is amazing!
Thankyou for sharing ~
Stay safe & well
Beryl was a bugger even 200 miles north! What a day. We are among the few who never lost power but the 91+ tornado whack-a-mole tried my soul. Harvey never dropped a drop, Beryl gave us 6" in July!
Oh no! These storms can be so intense. I’m glad you made it through safely!
Praying for you and everyone in the path of the hurricane. Stay safe.
We got ready as well. We are just outside of corpus so we were ready for a direct hit. Luckily we are far enough away from the coast we wouldn’t have been in danger of storm surge and flooding but we were ready for the rain and high winds. Luckily (and unluckily!), we didn’t get a drop of rain nor any wind. Everyone is talking about how this was just a practice run, there will be another hurricane this season. It’s looking to be an active summer!
I love the message of this video so much y’all! Be ready, not in an apocalypse end-of-world type of way, but a natural disaster type of way. We were in south TX on vacation during hurricane Harvey. We watched our beloved town of Port Aransas take a direct hit and they are still recovering. However this just inspired us to be prepared and ready for natural disasters. It’s never too late to prepare!
Port Lavaca just north of you. We also prepared. I have a pile of items NOT going back into the yard lol at least till October.
Hey, I remember when the water was so high they were driving boats 😳.
Its always good to have the necessary tools for bad weather👍.
There was a joke: The storms winds were coming in so strongly that a man said I'm gonna tie myself to a tree.
The other man said it's not that the wind is blowin , its what the wind is blowin.
A yeild sign cutting you in half is not safe!
In that be safe woth your choices and stay on the porch an drink beer🎉.
Ill be thinking of you🤗.
JO JO IN VT 💞
I lived in Corpus Christi until I was 10 years old. I remember when Hurricane Carla hit that area. My parents finally made the decision that we were evacuating and my dad said we were one of the last to leave before all roads were closed. I think I was 8 years old at the time but it was really impressed on me that hurricanes, or any storms, are no joking matters. I now live 45 miles northwest of Waco and have a house big enough that, when needed, I can provide a shelter from storms for my family that is still along the coastline.
Living my whole life in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, we prepared at the beginning of the season every year. Now that I've moved to Louisiana, I feel I can handle anything. I'm a city girl in the country, but I was raised by wonderful parents who taught me everything I needed to know. Thankful you were missed, but I'm praying for all those that were hit by the storm.
Glad you guys are ok. Lovely song at the end. 🎶💜
I'd love a video about biblical preparedness
Glad y’all didn’t get hit by Beryl, but I’m sure y’all could use the rain! We ended up being fine. We’re out of power, but we’re on our generator. And the tornadoes set up north & east of us. And you know we’re prepared. ;) Chase was outside during the worst of it with his gopro & pretending to be a reporter on the storm. Totally soaked & having the time of his life. 😂
The storm chaser gene is strong with him 😂. I’m so glad you’re ok and that the generator works!!
Great advice
Great team work. Smart folks. Being prepared. We were under a boil water mandate for 3 days here in North Texas. Now back to using water. Be safe.❤
In Baytown we lost power 6:30 this morning. Still waiting for its return
Oh man yall. I am so so sorry. My family is all in Pasadena and my extended family is in Anahuac. Yall got pummeled being on the eastern dirty side of the storm.
So sorry. Praying for everyone down there!!!
Born and raised in Houston, lived in Katy 13 years, a few other places including 16 years outside of DC. We always had bug out bags! Been through many hurricanes, even one in Concan( vacation when I was in 7/8 grade! Went up the river(Frio) watched cars, cows and many other things go down the river. Afterwards, brother dove to get peoples purses and things out of cars. Now we live in the Hill Country near Boerne, close to San Antonio. Sad to see where people have built and if we ever get a hurricane. Thin top soil and deep rock layers. Nothing will hold back the water.
Oh my goodness Susan, yes that does sound like it could be bad.
We thought the storm was going to hit SA this time. Glad it didn’t.
I have lived most of my life in Central Texas. I know that 95% of the hurricanes will not be a threat to us. Unfortunately I have gotten lazy and stop doing my storm preparedness. Thank you so much for the reminder.
Oh Greg I get it!!!!! Probably the main thing that keeps me on my toes is that I have family down there. So it keeps me focused because of how often they lose power.
This makes me be thankful and grateful to be where I am, in south africa we have many problems but we dont have huge devastating natural disasters, yes the Cape burns every year and huge hail is a common experience, the last couple of years flash floods are also on the rise, power and water shortages are daily life for us, but It has always been heart breaking to see the utter devastation earthquakes/hurricanes etc have in other parts of the world. Have your lamps ready, just in case its the right thing to do ❤
Actual life survival skills should be taught in schools, or part of a homeschool curriculum. We don't get the hurricanes in the UK you get, but we get the relentless rain that living on a tidal river teaches you to be hyper allert. Especially when you've had a herd of horses to move as it's about to flood, or your family later need to. I also think that convenience taking the place of basic skills has given far too many people the impression that it will always be there. That this convenience is their saviour in an emergency, rather than the hole in their raft. I hope everyone manages to make it through safely.
Living in North Texas and this hurricane just meant a day of really nice and cool weather. Earlier storms in late Spring brought bad hail and damaging winds though. Really made us realize the responsibility of making sure things were safely tied down or put away before thunderstorms in this area. Glad you all are okay and prepared!
Yall have been through the wringer. I’m glad this didn’t add to it.
Praying for you. We grew up in Florida and prepared for many hurricanes. Better to prepare!
You and your family seem to have this routine down. Good luck and much success.
We're in Fort Worth. It was cloudy all day yesterday, and we had 5 minutes of hard rain late afternoon. Oh, and the temps dropped to high 70s. That was a treat!
So glad you were able to spend the time to do this update! «sigh of relief»
I was watching Ryan Hall's YT channel early this morning for the live storm updates
while Beryl was still 10-20 miles offshore... and thought of y'all, of course. :)
Gosh. The storm coverage was so intense. We were surprised at the damage from a category 1 storm.
I DIDN'T PREPARE. I was like, "Oh it won't be that bad for us. We probably won't even lose power." I WAS WRONG! I learned my lesson.
Oh Courtney, I am so so SOOOO sorry!!!
This was a bad one for sure. Bad in that it really didn’t LOOK bad. But yikes, so many without power for the past week.
I am sorry.
Just got electric last night. I live an hour NE of Houston, we got our butts kicked. I have lived through hurricanes my whole life, 52 years. This was the craziest Cat1 I have ever seen. My garden is gone, 3 trees down in my back yard, and my neighbors tree on my house. Thank God my family and friends are all safe and well.
That’s what we are hearing. “No one was ready for a cat 1 to bring THAT!”
I am so glad the worst part of the storm missed you! We are in Dallas County and had showers off and on all day Monday. The worst of the storm went east of us.
I live in south Louisiana in St Mary parish which is a coastal parish. I dont really get what you say worried until its a good 4... my home survived everything from Andrew to Katrina far a big ones go. All i do is fill up plenty jugs of water and a barrel or 2 with clean as possible water to flush toilet and was up in sink. Thats about all i really do.. maybe a little food but im usually always stocked up anyway.
Praying for all of you Romans 10:9-13❤
it is amazing how big the kids have become. it seems like yesterday you were pregnant and got the cow.
Interesting video from Harvey, good information! I wouldn't know how to begin to create bug out bags, especially things like paperwork. I always wondered about that. Like, how DO people protect things like that?
It get easier each year as you learn more and more of what you could have as a need. And knowing there is a solid hurricane season keeps you on guard during those few months. But a go-bad is so good to have for anyone in any type of area.
Clean the screen on your radiator. Its clogged with seed head from brush hogging, not getting any airflow
Definitely trying that. Thank you! You just saved me so much time and money!
@@BetterTogetherLife No problem man! Been down that road before. Keep up the good work!
Roots in is a great documentary
My daughter is in Houston, they have no power. They do have gas for the stove, so they are ok. I raised her to be prepared.
Are you all okay?
We are! We can lucky and it hovered about 15 miles to the east of us for like 5hrs.
So many are still without power down in Houston. 😔
You’re lucky my power is still out
Oh Corbin, I am so so sorry. Yes, all of my family members are still struggling with their power down in the south Houston area also. So sorry.
🙏
❤❤❤
I live in Houston really close to downtown buying on the north side of H downtown real close and I have been through some really crazy tropical storms or hurricanes, but we never flooded our house and we rarely lose power for like a long period of time I think cause I’m kind of close to the rail and close to downtown and maybe it’s an easy fix so we lose the last storm about a month ago that was bad. I think we lost power for two hours, the other day on the hurricane we lost power for three hours and we got power back on and we have friends that live north of us like going toward 45 by gallery they have no power some a lot of people around third third ward fourth fifth ward do not have power so I don’t know it’s crazy we have minimal damage. I mean we prepared we cut this massive massive sycamore tree down that cost me $1500 to cut it, but we wanted to cut it because the outcome of that falling on our house would devastate and we would probably have to rebuild so we took that cut, that tree down, cut all the trees around us down and on the side of my property it’s not my tree fell on my gate so tomorrow the tree trimmer is coming. It didn’t crack it. It uprooted it and it’s kind of dangerous for us to mess with it so I wanna get the professionals to do it and it’s not that big of a tree, but I don’t wanna take a chance
I always prepare ever since Covid. I have a back bedroom that I’ve turned into a back up pantry so I have two deep freezers so we have natural gas so if we lose light, I can still cook on the stove. We also buy charcoal in case I have to cook stuff on the pet , always always prepared water back up battery
Or maybe later we were talking about getting one of those champion house generators we haven’t figured out yet because we’re in the process of remodeling. My house is 1925 and this is the second time we’ve done some work on it 25 years ago and now it’s time , but we were lucky like I said only lost power for three hours. We didn’t have no damage, but it’s outside of my property line. I have to cut out of my plants that the wind broke some stems.
My prayers are with everybody that had some damage or some type of horrible outcome 🙏🏽🌀
It was horrible, yes. My (Beau’s) whole family is down in Houston and south Houston and they are all still without power. Luckily they have generators.
But yes, the most devastating Cat 1 hurricane we have seen.
It's good that you were missed but doesn't that mean that now you have no rain water in your tanks?
Great question! We didn’t empty them completely. So if we do get more rain this summer, we’ll be ready.
😊😊
😄
I'm in Corpus Christi by the coast.. Thankfully we didn't get hit. I've been through too many storms and crazy weather to count, so our main rule is keep the yard clean and clear so items don't fly around. Our generator is regularly checked and we always have gas for it, and we always keep batteries charged and emergency prep items handy. Having everything ready cuts down on our prep time. We didn't even have to do anything to prep for this storm.
You’re so right. Glad y’all are safe!
