The crafting of Kanazawa-haku began at the end of the 16th century. The gold leaf itself is not a complete art form, but is utilized to decorate lacquerware and household altars.

金箔作りは道具として使う和紙の仕込みの方が、実はもっと重要なのだと聞きました。4か月もかけて仕上げるのですか。受け継がれた技術の重さ、高い匠の心意気を感じます。心から尊敬に値する仕事です。

金沢に行って金箔をたくさん見たり買ったりしましたが実物を見たより過程を見た方がありがたみがよりわかりました！
ただギラギラした金の色じゃなく、上品な色をしてるよなぁ

本物の金箔は、このように上品に仕上がるように作るのが匠の技です。
それね。例えばインドの寺院や像なんかはどぎつい金色で、逆に下品に見える。他国の文化を批判している訳では全く無いが。
こういう人達に金箔だけ見せてどっちがお上品な日本の金箔か、って試してみたいわ。

大袈裟だなと思われるかと思いますが、思わず綺麗で涙が出ました。職人さんの技は本当に素晴らしいです。質問なのですが、工芸品に使われる金箔と食用に使われる金箔では何か違いはあるのでしょうか？
食品用の箔は基本的に銅を使用せず、金と少量の銀が使用されております。
In my country, we use this golden paper for decorating the buddha image, food, or even in artistic way and etc. .

当たり前やけど折り紙の金色とは全く違うんやなぁ
金色折り紙は実際に金ではなく、アルミの銀色にオレンジフィルムを貼ったりして金色の再現をしてますからね。
ただフェイクであっても反射特性（反射の仕方）は金と殆ど同じなんだとか。

Extraordinary!! I use gold leaf in my jewelry art and buy the leaf from a supplier. I roll my own foil for Keum Boo. I knew making leaf was so much more work but had never seen it done the traditional way. Thank you for sharing this precious art form! I hope it is never truly lost. 🙏🏼❤️
