- James Carter and Arno Haas Trade fours with Jody Espina at the JodyJazz Booth at NAMM 2014. Jody Espina playing a JodyJazz DV Alto 8 with Rico Jazz Select 3M reed, Arno Haas playing the JodyJazz Giant 7* and James Carter playing unbelievably. Also playing are Howard Paul on Benedetto Guitar and Jennifer Leitham, Hohner Bass.
My position as a mouthpiece maker has given me many opportunities to play with the greatest players in the world like George Garzone, Tom Scott, Ed Calle, Andy Snitzer and so many others. But of course that is always a very scary thing, playing with the best players in the world. In this exchange with James Carter and Arno Haas, you can see when I try and duke it out and when I just surrender.
My opinion, this is the best sound Jody E. ever played
Awesome!
James is so ridiculous and I love it. Him and Joshua Redman doing the thing with that Clint Easton band turned me on to his style. He sounds truly free.
I believe they are blowing over the standard There Will Never Be Another You
thanks man
James Carter has an unintentional knack for spreading up on friends and foes alike .
His feat is reminiscent of my Tower Tower's, Mountain's, Blue Back's and Fire Red's (birds) spreading up mercilessly on all challengers - and supporters too.
Jody Espina is a master of Organic Real Jazz, the surrealistic form of JAZZ - the real deal.
The third guy, in the center, is perhaps a giant player of (Jazz) Ballads; don't you think?
Tk..
Thank you for the kind words!
this video shows Carter is a nice saxophone technician. Espina is a follower trying to play like carter. the other tenor player was playing melodic lines. i think musician wise he outdid them
Jazz is an amazing language!
@@jodyjazzofficial ah, the age old "speed isn't music, pentatonics and quarter notes are the only *real* playing" maxim; it never gets old, and also never rings true. They're ALL playing melodically, and all doing very well at it.
Absolutely brilliant, Carter!!!
He is a smokin’ player!
Wow!
Carter just takes the horn to places it never went before....But Aubra Graves at 90 plus owns the sweetest sound of all.
0:26 How does Jamss do that???🙌🏾🙌🏾
This is hilarious
😂
James Carter the best
He really is!

:)
James carter is my idol his tone is unmatched
He has a big and fat tone!
James carter is the greatest
It is obvious that Carter is a monster player, but i don't hear any music coming out of that horn. and it should be about the music, not the technic.
He also kept cutting off the other tenor guy before he was finished
Good afternoon, Jody Espina teacher! I am planning to purchase a jody jazz JET. It is good for bass and good projection? Bright as Jumbo Java ? It is balanced and good for acute super ? I play alto sax
The Jody Jazz Jet has great warmth and power. Not as bright as a Jumbo Java for sure. You can find more clips of the Jet on this channel!
Muito topp

Hello! The song is called There Will Never Be Another You
very cool , carter is a monster !
He’s such an amazing player!
Hey Jody, what would be the difference HR 7 or 8 sound?
Both are great, you just have to match the right reed to it!
The best moutpiece i have a hard ruber is a super for me
What is the title of this song? Please tell me.
Hello! The song is called There Will Never Be Another You

@@mirkokoky9651 👍🏾
James about 30 years plays Lawton mouthpiece
@llm468 oh yeah, I'm friends with the family now. We've jammed many times over the years.
James Carter's face at 1:04 ish was lowkey rude lol
I've heard from multiple sources that he's a huge douche lol
+Zach Gross That's not hard to believe, haha
He's been super nice and encouraging when I interacted with him.
Nothing but kindness when I met him.
+Stuart Coles Alrighty I guess he was just really feeling the music
Really not a fan of Jody's playing. I know I'm alone on this and I've got a long way to go myself, but that's just my humble opinion.
That’s no problem at all, we all gravitate towards different sounds :)
Long Tones!
Yes always!
carter's playing really annoying...
GdSerpong Jazz
He plays J A Z Z, Organic Real Jazz for lovers and connoisseurs of Organic Real Jazz opulence - Dr. James Carter does; can't you dig?
His is not meant for everyone in the same manner as in the case of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Michael Brecker...
Not unlike Mr. James Carter, these giants were ahead of their era - Charlie and 'Trane were.
I don’t understand how someone can go out of their way to hate on other musicians
Everyone has their own unique sound and style :)
