    Thank you very much for uploading all the video's!! , i have watched them all and got very good help from it to build my own hydrofoil. I have recently finished mine, but i am not satisfied with the carbon mast that i made. I have made an negative mold, just like you, but i wonder how you made it, i did it in 3 steps:
    1. first i did wet lay-up side 1
    2. then i did wet lay-up side 2
    3. i put epoxy+ microballons in both cavities and clamped the molds together (
    For the leading and trealling edge i used an extra plate to have a extra reference to make a strong bond between these layers for good torsional stiffness)
    how did you make it, it looks like you made the mast in only 1 step. Did you made the mast entirely out of carbon? (without core) and how did you archive compression of the fibers (to avoid bubbles)
    Thanks anyway!

      Hi Joris, I'm pleased that you found the videos useful! I think that you'll like the new one that i'll post next week. Stay tuned!
      About your question, I do a full carbon mast. 10 % of total amount of material is uniaxial high modulus carbon fiber, 30% standard 200gr uniaxial cf, 10% biaxial 45 degree, 50% twill.
      When you wet lay the single layer of carbon fiber in the mould you have push harder with a spatula in order to eliminate the intrapped air. You have to fill the two shells of the mold with the layers needed. When you reach the level you put some more layer for both part and an extra resin.
      At this point, you close and squeeze the mold. It is important that in your mold you have some little channel that leave to the extra resin to go out.
      Have a good fun!

      @@Brucecreations77 thank you so much for your answer, it helped a lot!
      I think i need to order some more carbon to make a solid mast haha.
      I noticed that ordering thick (600 grams/m^2) unidirectional is significant cheaper (ca 25 euros/kg), compared to 200 grams unidirectional (70 euro/kg), do you know if the same weight in 200 grams/m^2 cloth is stronger/stiffer? compared to 600 grams cloth
      And do you maybe know the total weight of the mast you made?

    Great work! I've do a little glass work, but you do amazing, beautiful art... How did you create the mold for the foils? Did you make a plug out of wood and use silicone to create the female?

    • @Brucecreations77
      @Brucecreations77  8 років тому +2

      +Zach Stine Thanks Zach, I laminated some glass fiber in a little roker table, after that I shaped the glass fiber in order to obtain the wing profile. With this core I made a mould.

  • @PerWiklund234

    Really impressive. It looked like you made the wing with two female moulds in one go. Do you have compressible core or how do you get a solid wing? Or do you use bladder molding?

    • @Brucecreations77
      @Brucecreations77  7 років тому +2

      It's enough to cut the various carbon fiber sheets with different shape in order to offset the different thikness of the profile, as you can see in the video

    Superbe video, il est possible d'avoir plus d'informations comment tu as fais les wings en particulier comment faire pour que le carbon soit pressé correctement contre toutes les faces du moules, je penses bien que c'est de l'infusion mais il semble que une fois tu as le bag à l'intérieur du moule (2:20) et une fois à l'exterieur pour le support vertical (2:30). Faut il avoir une sorte de chambre à air à l'intérieur ou juste compter sur l'epoxy pour "fill the gaps". Merci!

    • @Brucecreations77

      This is a sheet of PET, you have to put some mould release on it, bagging it and push gentle from the center to the corner in order to eliminate air bubble.

    What hot coat/clear coat "schedule" would you recommend to achieve a glossy finish on carbon fiber? Right now I have done hotcoat/sand/hotcoat. I was hoping to get glossy finish at this stage but I still see some low spots. Would a third hocoat/sand and clear coat/wet sanding be sufficient?

  • @zamka21

    Bonjour,Superbe boulot.J'ai fait mes premières ailes de foils et été (CF forum winsurfing 33 rubrique passion foil et "my own wings")Du coup, vu ta maitrise technique, j'aurais quelques questions:Tu utilise pour la planche un film autant démoulant qui marche bien. As tu une ref à m'indiquer ?Technique pour la découpe de tes logos scorpions etc...Au final, l'épaisseur de bois et de combien au dessus de la mousse, ce n'est pas galère à mettre en place sans rupture ?A un moment, il me semble que tu utilise le vide dans un moule, cela m'étonne.Pour ce qui est de la forme du foil, à haute vitesse, le pb est de ne pas avoir trop de portance. Du coup, ta forme en biplan doit bien aller pour le décollage mais ensuite, n'as tu pas tendance à sortir de l'eau ?

    • @Brucecreations77
      @Brucecreations77  9 років тому

      +Franck Gressier Pour la planche j'ai utilisé une film en HDPE tu peut le retrouvere chez tout les magazines de bricolage, pour la découpe des logos tu peut regarder le premieré vidéo que j'ai fait. Pou le bois au dessous il y à la mousse, 8 mm de balsa et 2 mm de bois de différentes essences, je ne crois pas qu'il aura des problèmes de rupture. Il n'as pas des problèmes de sortir en vitesse, c'est trés neutral, et si tu va te tromper et porte le foil trés pres de la surface de l'eau, il n'y a pas problèmes de ventilation. Il suffit choisir une bon AOA.

    Really great video!. I have a question. What foil (plastic) are you using at 1:19 and at 1:37? What did you do between the step of applying the peelply and removing the foil in 1:19?
    Keep up posting those great vids!

    • @Brucecreations77
      @Brucecreations77  8 років тому +1

      +skwerl13 It's a PET sheet. After removing the peel ply you need to put some more resin and roll out the PET film. For curved surfaces an HDPE film is better.

    • @skwerl13
      @skwerl13 8 років тому

      +Brucecreations Thank you very much for your answer! But do you also send the surface (after you peeld off the peelply) before applying the extra "layer" of resin? If I understand it right, the thicker plastic you use is HDPE right!?
      I found out that PP (polypropylene) sheets also work very well to achieve a smooth surface, they also can be released very easily.

    • @Brucecreations77
      @Brucecreations77  8 років тому

      +skwerl13
      No, a sanding isn't needed, you can add some resin directly on the surface of removed peel ply. Yes, it's HDPE but for sure also PP works well.
