Tremendous respect for a successful black person who admits they can’t speak to certain disparities because it wasn’t their experience AND THATS IT. She doesn’t invalidate anything anybody else has gone through. RESPECT ❤
If you had Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Aretha, Patti Labelle in a room alone, do you think this conversation would the same? There are always disparities. You can look at Barbra Streisand in comparison to any of the women I mentioned. Tina is one of those who's main desire was to be palatable, but I understand why. There are so many female singers, many famous black singers too. However, it does require real talent to reach the top and stay there like Tina did. She was huge in Europe. I don't feel the same about the younger generation of female singers, they just don't have the class of people like Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick, etc.
In terms of vocal talent though, Beyonce is sitting with them and I do feel Bey is representing well. I don't say this as a fan of her necessarily, but I respect the hard work and tenacity.
I would agree. Most of today's singers, including men, bore me to death. The lyrics are not beautiful, and the melody is monotonous. The music industry promotes hip hop and rap, but not alot of real talent. The 60's, 70's, and 80's was much better with regards to creativity and great songs than anything i hear today.

That would have been a marvel and probably the most dynamic collaboration ever if it were to have happened. They all bring a lot of different things to the table. I will say Tina is in the middle, Aretha has the clearest tone but a lot of soul, Janis has that raspy, sultry sound to her and Tina ties the two together. Her voice is more solid than Janis but more gritty than Aretha. That's why I love me some Tina, she does it all.
