- If you have never eaten a Jack in the Box Taco good for you and I'm sorry. They are a weird combination of yummy and WTF. There have always been rumors about what is in them (it ain't all beef folks, not even half!) and the american cheese is about as out of place as that crazy sauce. It was 1950 San Diego and they did the best they could with what they had. Luckily, there are a few simple work arounds so you can make these amazing tacos at home. I'll show you how!
Jack's Taco Meat Recipe
1 cup Cold Water
2 tbsp Oat Flour (finely ground quick or steel cut oats)
2 tbsp Tomato Paste
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tbsp Chili Powder
1 tbsp Maseca Corn Four
1 tbsp AP Flour
2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Ac'cent Seasoning (or other brand of msg)
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Ground Cumin
A dash of Black Pepper
A dash of Cayenne Pepper
Squeeze of fresh lime juice (or dash of powdered citric acid)
About 16-18 corn tortillas
Mix all ingredients together and add to browned ground beef. Cook until combined and then pour meat mixture into your food processor. Blend until very liquid and smooth. Return meat to your pan and cook on med-low heat for 3 minutes. Mash meat until extremely smooth
Jack's Taco Sauce
1 cup Cold Water
¼ cup Heinz Chili Sauce
2 ½ tbsp Distilled White Vinegar
1 tbsp Cornstarch
½ tsp Red Pepper Flakes
½ tsp Seasoning Salt (Lawry's or other brand)
1 tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Onion Powder
¼ tsp White Pepper
1/8 tsp Ground Coriander
¼ tsp Ground Cumin
Pinch of Ground Cloves
½ tsp Sweet Smoked Paprika
Add all ingredients to your blended and blend until combined. Heat a sauce pan over med/low heat. Add sauce and simmer 5-7 minutes to thicken sauce. Stir often. Let cool and pour sauce into squeeze bottle for easiest application. Refrigerate sauce before use. Keep a few weeks if bottle is air tight.

There were a lot of small taco places down here in So. Cal. in the 50's and 60's and their tacos were about the same. Jack in the Box tacos were just ordinary tacos. Fancy tacos are a relatively new thing. Nothing like a greasy fried taco when you are hungry.
The taco shops there are legendary! Best tacos in the world, hands down! I spent a good part of my misspent youth in San Diego. Good times! Jack in the Box basically just took the taco dorados and put hamburger fixin's in it. They are tasty but a bit strange. Gringos están locos
Yum
I should know better than to watch you right before bed.
I'm sorry and glad I could help😉. I still have 10 of these tacos in my freezer and they only take 5 mins to cook. The midnight snack just got a lot more interesting!
Thank you so much for putting the recipe IN THE DESCRIPTION!! 😊
I don't even take the time to watch UA-camrs who make ya go to a whole new page online to see their recipe...
No disrespect to them, it's just that I usually watch as I'm picking dinner & I want the recipe right there as I'm following the directions, after I've already watched the video...
I miss pup 'n' taco, amazing fast food back in the 70 and early 80s.
We had a Pup N Taco in my town. I never got to eat there though...
So do I !!!!
Thank you for sharing. I made them and they were delicious!!!! 😀
Glad you like them!
I LOVE JnB tacos - totally doing this - thanks
A&W Root Beer Restraunts also had a very similar tacos.
I did not know that. I never had an A&W near me. I guess I was missing out.
Nice!..... that looks like a perfect copy of the Jack Taco. Imma have to give that a try.
I'll give it a try. I found their menu varies around the country. At some locations, they have no idea what you're talking about when you try to order them.
The tacos are about the only original item left on their menu. I would have thought they were everywhere. It's weird that they would not sell at all stores. Now at least you make a batch and have them in the freezer ready to cook up whenever you want some.
the time we went to atlanta GA at a mc donalds they had no idea what a hot & spicy was 😭
You say is so spot on if it's spot-on from what I've got years ago it sucked it was terrible, I believe what you're doing is got to taste better
You are right. They are terrible. It's like the cafeteria pizza from school. So bad it was almost good. I think if you didn't aquire a taste for them while a bit "high" as a youth its too late now. They just are what they are...
Good ol jack in the box ;)
Now I need the recipe for the stuffed jalepenos to go with this
I have actually never tried those. I love spicy foods but I'm not a big Jalapeño guy to be honest. I'll see if I can find out how they are made though....
Would very much appreciate that :)

Last time I seen him on the menu they were still two for a dollar and I've tried them once they were terrible I never tried them again thank you have a nice day, but I love your copycat Taco Bell recipes😊
Are those flour or corn tortillas? Recommended oil for frying? flour spelled Four in recipe (2 of 3)
So sorry about that. They are corn tortillas. I use vegetable oil or some other neutral oil with a high smoke point. Olive oil would be bad! Thanks for the heads up on the typo. I hate when I do that!
MSG!!! Yum! Any Asian grocery market will have a large bag of MSG for very cheap. And it is NOT toxic(another corporate lie). A little bit, in moderation.
how about corn beef they do great taquitos
If I could get a brisket, I would be all over that. Where I'm at, I have to special order it and that has yet to work out. As soon as I can get one it will be corned beef week! Reuben eggrolls?
En español los ingredientes por favor
So why dint you eat one on camera and review it.
I'm new at this and I was REALLY new back then. I screwed up... 🙃 They really are amazing and I make them all the time still.
Just giving you crap. I need the food eaten, it's a pet peeve. lol@@howtocooke
Where can I get the recipe
I usually try to put the recipes in the description under the title of the video. Just look for the "...more" or "show more" link and click that to see the whole recipe.
