      tipofmytongue1024 I thought it was hilarious when he said he [still] had a moral compass. I mean, don't get me wrong - i don't think Hilary is a saint by any means, but at least Clinton supporters aren't delusional about it. Honestly believing that Trump has any sense of right and wrong, given what he has repeatedly shown, said and done, is delusions of grandeur. And believing that Trump has a moral compass (and to use that unreality as reason for one's support) puts in to question the legitimacy of your own moral compass.

      The Republican Party has been stoking racial resentment, anti-intellectualism, and conspiracy-mongering for decades. Eventually a charismatic moron turned to the rubes and said "you're right to be scared of the brown people and I will protect you from them," and they ate it up.

      Yes that's how Adolf Hitler became the Furor, because people like you echoed his ideas of taking the power out of the hands of the politicians and giving it to a man who convinced them that he alone would "fix everything". Why? Well because like trump he wasn't a politician!

      You seem to think I support Trump, which is incorrect. I was talking about congress, which has an 14% approval rating, yet an incumbency rate of over 90%.

      +deadeaded Voters tend to like their own representatives - unless their representatives screw up MASSIVELY (which is rare). It's not surprising that voters keep re-electing people they are happy with. That's why gerrymandering is so popular.

    I really like rachel, she should be running for president. Trump himself doesn't know the damage of his words and actions, things will never be the same way.

    • @flagsoftheworld5
      @flagsoftheworld5 7 років тому +5

      You're right, he doesn't, but that's irrelevant. Things won't be the same way ever again, they will be better. This is the final bowel movement for the United States with a segment of the population that are old and dying off. They are throwing the equivalent of a temper tantrum and Trump is merely giving a voice to a group of people who have always been a part of the United States. They merely want to feel important again because they aren't in their own pathetic little lives or on a nationally political level. They bask in the thought that they are making people afraid, it plays into their little broken egos, so don't play into it. They never valued freedom, only their own freedom to make everyone else live the way they wanted to. They are nothing new. What is new; however, is the latest American generation which is the most educated in American history. Time will eventually rid us of these pieces of trash.

      You should get chills, but not in the way that you think. Look at the average Trump supporter. They are shriveled up and gray haired. They are a small segment of the population which is dying off, of old age, every second. These are their final political gasps for air. His supporters will continue to shrink in number until their disgrace of a life, to every US soldier protecting our democracy, is over. The history books will not forget them though. What a lasting mark to leave on the world, huh?

      Dolores, the shadow government owns many on both sides, but sees progressive liberalism as a better cover for their corporatist operations. While people thrash at distracting branches (racism, sexism, celebrity gossip and such), the entire forest can be freely exploited, even stolen. David Souter is right, but who is the real threat? A leader can be a merchant of light who illuminates truth, or a merchant of darkness who conceals it.

      +Joe Bulger You make an interesting point. However, if you believe that most people in power are lying about what they truly believe, then democracy is already gone. That means you can't trust conservatives or liberals. I've met only two compulsive liars in my whole life, and thousands of people who are mentally healthy and basically can't lie about important things. The vast majority of humans simply can't lie convincingly (ask any police detective). People exaggerate or put a positive spin on a story, but they simply can't lie because it isn't normal human nature. For example: Hillary wasn't honest about being under attack in Sarajevo, BUT she was told that the airport was frequently under sniper attack and she WAS in danger. She exaggerated to make the story sound more important (which virtually everyone does from time to time). She should have been more honest, but the story was potentially true (there WERE snipers attacking that airport at the time).

    • @thetooginator153
      @thetooginator153 7 років тому

      +Joe Bulger The government is made up of human beings and human beings are flawed. I'm a liberal and it's hard for me to understand conservative thinking. To me, conservatives sound like liars. I'm sure liberals sound like liars to you. Neither conservatives nor liberals are lying - they just have different life experiences which formed their ideologies. It took me a long time to accept that people who think differently from me are being honest, but they are. Try to assume people are being truthful, even if you think their ideas are wrong. Almost everyone believes that their ideas are best for them AND the country (conservatives and liberals). Pathological liars are VERY rare, and they are easy to spot because they lie about EVERYTHING (believe me). One way to spot pathological liars is that they don't have any true friends - for obvious reasons. I recommend the book "Game Change" about the 2008 election. It shows how everyone involved is a human being (flaws and all).

Until the alpha decides a pack member is superfluous and then one is cast out or simply killed. That is the part of the equation we somehow seem to forget. Uncertain times breed monsters.

      Not really. They are a small group of angry people whom have been, they feel, cornered. I was a Republican too, something better will replace them. They simply can't grasp the fact that culture and government are evolving into something so alien to them, true liberty for all and not just for them to be free to dictate to everyone else how life should be lived. They thrive on making others feel "chilled," don't give them even that satisfaction. Old age will finish off their traitorous ideas on life and government. It is the end of the line for this strain of American cancer.

    The most interesting part of what Souter said is that single word "personable." The characteristic of being personable is the key to understanding the ascension of Donald Trump as Republican nominee for President. The word "charismatic" is sometimes also used in that context.
    Since the population is so uninformed, we need a way of combating charisma. And the only way to combat charisma is with more and better charisma. That is why I think we should be training actors in charisma -- as a deterrence to another all-charisma candidate like Trump.
