It’s a silly thing to say but actually telling your hairdresser that what they’ve done isn’t what you’ve asked for is BRAVE! I have a full fringe and went to a new place for a simple trim and came out with LAYERS in my fringe and thanked him, paid and sat in the car and cried 😂 sometimes I think hairdressers do something wrong then try to convince you that it’s what you asked for/suits you better so seriously well done for saying something! I do wish hairdressers would be honest with their clients and look at the inspiration pictures and say “your hair is not that texture/length/undertone and neither is your skin etc etc so we can get to something approximate but it’ll never look like that”. My hairdresser is a friend, she’s done my hair for over thirty years. Occasionally I’ll take inspirations to her and she’s always completely upfront if it’s achievable with my particular hair/face/skin tone .... never any disappointments! I also lots three-quarters of my hair 2/3 years ago due to Covid, it’s slowly growing back - however, I’ve stopped colouring it or putting any heat on it and what’s there now is in fairly good condition (when all is said and done, any hair longer than three inches, is a reflection of your lifestyle six months previously - what’s coming out of your scalp is not living ..... now you’ve changed your lifestyle, your hair can only get in better and better condition 😉) Having said that, although I know you didn’t like it and it made you feel old - but WOW!!! it really enhanced your skin tone and brought out your eyes ..... final straws and all that though 🤗
I think your hair looks great! I understand why you were disappointed but I do think he gave you something like the picture. That person just has different coloring than you etc but I’m proud of you for going back and getting what you want. I’m also glad you’re going to someone who cares about the health of your hair. It makes a huge difference! Whatever the case, you look great.

Honestly I applaud you for saying you dislike it and being honest. Too often I've not said anything and then left the salon with hair that I hate or just haven't been completely happy with. Don't feel silly for crying over it. You've done the work over the past 6 weeks to get your hair in the right condition to have it done and of course wanted to look good for going out and for your birthday too. I would have cried if it was me too. I'm one of those people who don't really like my appearance at all, I hate the way I look, but do love my hair and always have. It's one of the things I do spend a lot of money on and take care of because it makes me feel good.

Aww jess i would have cried my eyes out if i went to the hair dressers and didn’t like what they’d done. I liked the darker root but feel you needed more highlights on top to break up the depth. Plus the pic you used needed the wanded curls to show the colour at its best. Youve done so well with dealing with your grandads health. It’s not a silly thing at all it’s what’s important to you. For me as a plus size girl my identity and the thing I like about myself that’s a comfort blanket is my hair. I’ve had so many hair disasters and cried after thinking because a professional is doing it, it couldn’t possibly go wrong …. Yea right. My latest was when I said just cut 2-3 inches off 6 inches later I now practically have a Bob and hate it I bawled my eyes out so totally get it ❤❤❤❤

You do not sound like a spoiled brat!! I have a lot of emotion over my hair as well and hate when it’s messed up. Plus hair is so expensive… we have a right to be upset if it goes badly. Tbh the grey doesn’t suit everyone, I like the way it ended up much better!!

Sadly Jess I have found taking pictures of what we would like our hair to look like is always a disaster as its never like the picture and the picture you took did have a slight grey tint to it but yours was like block of grey at the back and I would have cried also but the good thing is this man wanted to correct it for you and mistakes happen some his fault and sadly yours also as we get a picture in our heads its never real life hair is very important to us we have to look and deal with it every day so glad he sorted it so your happy with it think his a good hairdresser but wires get crossed things happen I went for chestnut colour once and was bright red when I came out and they would not help correct it unless I paid .. So sorry about your Granddad xx

I think your hair is lovely now, and I know people often go slightly darker for autumn winter and then go lighter in spring. The cut really suits you too. But fair play you were honest, I never have the balls to 😂 Sorry to hear about your Grandad. I think big birthdays are emotional anyway but when you have someone not well and then something in your appearance changes it can tip you over the edge. My 40th was before Xmas in 2021 and my meal was able to go ahead but people were understandably dropping out and I was so stressed I spent the lead up to it crying 😂 the actual day turned out to be great. You are not being a wuss getting upset about your hair either...... I've cried many a time after a visit to the hairdressers. I think we walk in with big expectations and when they don't achieve the required result it is so frustrating especially with the prices they charge these days. Jess I'm exactly like you total blond and the up keep is horrendous! Am thinking about going back to my natural colour of light brown, if your still not happy with the top of your hair get them to put some babylights in down your parting that will lighten the top . Can totally relate hun 😘 ❤xxx

I absolutely empathise with you re your hair. Same thing happened to me, only with my normal hairdressers and the owner who did it was a complete b1tch when i said i didn't like it and wanted it lighter. (For some reason she changed the root colour of her own bat.) I still go to the salon but a different hairdresser in the salon. I think part of the problem with your hair is that the front parts were soooo light inncomparrison amd nothing to break it up. Contrast and lines were too stark. By the end it looked well on you and the cut suits you. Hope you've had a lovely weekend x
Coconut Oil, on your palms, run your hands thru ur hair, not too much or it'll look greasy, just the right amount will give you a nice sheen, i'm grey, naturally, that's what i use, and my hair looks amazing and my scalp isn't dry/rashy.
It’s awful when you put your faith in a hairdresser and you absolutely hate the result! It’s happened to most of us, I reckon. In my case I went in for a trim (I was growing my hair into a longish bob) and I came out looking like I’d been set upon by apaches! I refused to pay and walked out with wet hair. Our hair is our crowning glory and if it looks awful, we feel terrible! Looks lovely now though it’s been redone ❤️

Ah Jess, I’m not surprised you were disappointed and upset at the first colour he did. I do like it now it’s been re done. I had a similar experience at a hairdressers years ago, just before a friends wedding and I left the salon, not completely happy. I walked to the loos in the shopping centre I was in, the light was different and it looked grey! I was mortified and I was about 40 at the time and didn’t want to go grey earlier than I should. Luckily, like you, they fitted me in an hr later so I had to hang around town and get it sorted. Luckily I was quite happy with it after thank god and I went to my friends wedding and felt good. Btw no reason to think you shouldn’t have cried, especially when it wasn’t just the hair that upset you, your grandad being so unwell too . Sorry to hear that xx

Oh beaut i am glad that the hair turned out better, it does look lovely but i agree and do think that getting it done elsewhere in the future will be better. Also i am so sorry to heard about your grandad, you are a human and its perfectly valid and normal to have these feelings surface. Crying is a okay! Sending hugs your way. You do not sound like a spoiled brat!! I have a lot of emotion over my hair as well and hate when it’s messed up. Plus hair is so expensive… we have a right to be upset if it goes badly. Tbh the grey doesn’t suit everyone, I like the way it ended up much better!!

I think your hair colour is great, it isn’t such a harsh blonde as before, it has a more natural look and suits your skin tone. You did the right thing by telling the hairdresser you weren’t happy…..very brave. 🥰

Sadly Jess I have found taking pictures of what we would like our hair to look like is always a disaster as its never like the picture and the picture you took did have a slight grey tint to it but yours was like block of grey at the back and I would have cried also but the good thing is this man wanted to correct it for you and mistakes happen some his fault and sadly yours also as we get a picture in our heads its never real life hair is very important to us we have to look and deal with it every day so glad he sorted it so your happy with it think his a good hairdresser but wires get crossed things happen I went for chestnut colour once and was bright red when I came out and they would not help correct it unless I paid .. So sorry about your Granddad xx

I think your hair is lovely now, and I know people often go slightly darker for autumn winter and then go lighter in spring. The cut really suits you too. But fair play you were honest, I never have the balls to 😂 Sorry to hear about your Grandad. I think big birthdays are emotional anyway but when you have someone not well and then something in your appearance changes it can tip you over the edge. My 40th was before Xmas in 2021 and my meal was able to go ahead but people were understandably dropping out and I was so stressed I spent the lead up to it crying 😂 the actual day turned out to be great. You are not being a wuss getting upset about your hair either...... I've cried many a time after a visit to the hairdressers. I think we walk in with big expectations and when they don't achieve the required result it is so frustrating especially with the prices they charge these days. Your hair does look really nice now and I do agree, not in a horrible way that it did look a bit greyish the first time around xx

Jess I'm exactly like you total blond and the up keep is horrendous! Am thinking about going back to my natural colour of light brown, if your still not happy with the top of your hair get them to put some babylights in down your parting that will lighten the top . Can totally relate hun 😘 ❤xxx

I actually liked your ashen hair & thought it looked very similar to the pic! I think if you'd washed it yourself & lived with it a while. I absolutely empathise with you re your hair. Same thing happened to me, only with my normal hairdressers and the owner who did it was a complete b1tch when i said i didn't like it and wanted it lighter. (For some reason she changed the root colour of her own bat.) I still go to the salon but a different hairdresser in the salon.
I think part of the problem with your hair is that the front parts were soooo light inncomparrison amd nothing to break it up. Contrast and lines were too stark.
By the end it looked well on you and the cut suits you.

I love.the hair. I think it looks more natural with all the tones.
Coconut Oil, on your palms, run your hands thru ur hair, not too much or it'll look greasy, just the right amount will give you a nice sheen, i'm grey, naturally, that's what i use, and my hair looks amazing and my scalp isn't dry/rashy.
It’s awful when you put your faith in a hairdresser and you absolutely hate the result! It’s happened to most of us, I reckon. In my case I went in for a trim (I was growing my hair into a longish bob) and I came out looking like I’d been set upon by apaches! I refused to pay and walked out with wet hair. Our hair is our crowning glory and if it looks awful, we feel terrible! Looks lovely now though it’s been redone ❤️

Ah Jess, I’m not surprised you were disappointed and upset at the first colour he did. I do like it now it’s been re done. I had a similar experience at a hairdressers years ago, just before a friends wedding and I left the salon, not completely happy. I walked to the loos in the shopping centre I was in, the light was different and it looked grey! I was mortified and I was about 40 at the time and didn’t want to go grey earlier than I should. Luckily, like you, they fitted me in an hr later so I had to hang around town and get it sorted. Luckily I was quite happy with it after thank god and I went to my friends wedding and felt good. Btw no reason to think you shouldn’t have cried, especially when it wasn’t just the hair that upset you, your grandad being so unwell too . Sorry to hear that xx

As for the hair.. It's a big change, so would have been a shock. I went from being blonde all my life, to brunette last Christmas.. I hated it!!! Still getting used to it now, but I get so many compliments. You're looking fab, and the shampoo is obviously working 😊 Take care sweetie x

Re your hair .. yes didn’t like the first attempt .. the second looks lovely and strangely your hair looks even longer .. but in my experience if your not 100% happy then you’ll just Carry on trying to convince yourself . Go back especially while he’s not charging more !
