Nice review Bruce. I've looked at a few reviews of these and have been sitting on the fence, but, having seen your enthusiasm towards them, I've just pressed the button and ordered them. Thanks for your honest reviews and promotion of the hobby.
I started with a computer monitor , then I progressed to the EV800D and even though I now fly with HDO2's , the EV800d are sat beside me for my mates to watch .
I got one recently. Fits my face like a torture device. Other than that, it's great. Out of necessity, I'm having to bodge up a set of face pads and a leather headstrap for it. The prototypes are fitting it to my head fine now, so I can proceed with making the final versions. Skyzone should provide extra, thicker pad sets for those with a high nose bridge or a narrower face. It would help a lot.
We should all support skyzone if they keep moving like this. Fatshark took our money for so long and always under delivered. Plus Redcat own rotor riot and fatshark now...it's very hard to trust any of them.
They just did an update for them. The battery will just turn off with no warning because the cutoff voltage is too high. So make sure you do it. Other than that they are really good. You will like them
I have the Cobra X goggles and could not be happier. They are my first goggles and I am in no hurry to upgrade. I am thinking of later getting the Shark Byte system to use with them. This I think would make them hard to beat for the overall cost.
After owning Skyzone O4c, Dji V1 + Dji V2, and Hdo2's these are now my daily goggles. I have two sets... one with Hdzero and one to be used with the Walksnail vrx. For some reason a number of times I tried different binocular goggles, I wasn't able to focus and had seen everything double, and had to strain my eyes really hard (like when looking at autostereogram) to bring both eyes to focus, and only been able to do it for a short time. No such problem with box goggles or VR headsets which I use a lot. Right now I'm using Fatshark Scout as it was best available box googles on the markets, but I'm glad to have an alternative in a form for those goggles.
