Going to take a Sandman detour because I want to cover Batman: The Long Halloween before the animated movie drops next month on June 22. So next video will be Batman: The Long Halloween, and then I will continue on with Sandman. Long Halloween is long (13 issues) and I don't want to split it in two videos, so I might potentially take two weeks to do it and skip a Sunday release. We'll see though!
@@denisewilliams9987 I’m kinda the same, I have to work a lot so I can’t sit down and read and really get into a comic, but Danny puts me there just like I’m reading.
The story about cats is the belief that belief itself shapes reality, perception of reality and reality itself is interchangeable. It's an amusing idea, and it may be the difference between those who spend their life playing with that idea(having talent), from those who don't.
I think you forgot the most important part of element girl's story. The call she got at the end of the story that called that was picked up by death. Somebody cared enough to ask about her at the end and death said she was gone. The story implies that she gave up too soon.
I discovered your channel with the first video of this series and got absolutely amazed. I read Sandman long time ago and watching your videos makes me feel so nostalgic. Your narration is so good. I'm from Brazil and I'm really insecure about my english, but the way you talk/read is so good that I can understand everything. One of my biggest dreams was too buy the whole Sandman Absolute Edition, but this new ones seems so beautiful that I'm thinking of trying buy them. Anyway, I loved the videos so far, thank you. I am very satisfied with the quality of your content. Besides a few mispronounced words your giving a detailed mastitis to the story lines and the visuals are satisfying. Your choice of music and sound effects is subtle but appreciated. Thank you for a unique way of ingesting comics.
Big props on cornering the market on full sandman volume dives, spent a bit looking for some and you by far have the best and most in depth of any I’ve seen!
Mr. Danny, I didn’t mean how many episodes will be made by others. I want to know how many episodes of your content I have to look forward to. It truly makes my Sunday morning.
If I do all of Sandman it will be 10 volumes. Some of the later volumes are really long, so it's possible I will split some of them up into Part 1 and Part 2. Also I am really looking forward to after Sandman, as I want to jump around to a whole bunch of different books, as I do sometimes hate having to stick to one book for such a long time to finish it.
That "gate" that the faeries come through for the Shakespeare one is an ancient geoglyph carved into a green hillside in Sussex. It's about 235 feet tall. It's called the "Long Man of Wilmington."
Interesting that Midnight's Summer Dream was so greatly acclaimed, it's probably one of my least favorite Sandman issues. As you, I'm not a Shakespear guy, never really peaked my curiosity (I didn't study any of his works at school because we study authors from our country), this issue also doesn't really add much to the Sandman universe as a whole, granted it's the first time we see the fairies which return in later issues, but that's about it, doesn't really say much to me.
The review mentioned the fruit Titania offered Hamnet -- folklore insists on caution in all dealings with The Fae. They are cunning, cruel and extremely compelling. Make no wishes or bargains as all comes at a price. And never, ever accept gifts or eat of enchanted food. Fair-folk are scary! 😐
Fun fact: the "green shrubbery" that opens the fey doors is actually the Cerne Abbas Giant, a hill figure in Dorset dating back to around the 16th century.

Shrubbery? SHRUBBERY?! Mate, look up the Long Man of Wilmington and you'll find that what he's standing on - and what he's opening there - is an effing hill! (This btw plays on the idea in Irish folklore that fairies live Under The Hill.) As for The Dream of a Thousand Cats - this entire volume is about stories. Calliope is used to create stories. Shakespeare transforms the brutal, capricious fae of old into mischievous fairies with his tale. Urania hides behind her masks, those little stories we tell everyone we meet - "I am happy." "I am disaffected." "I am a mother." "I am someone important." And the cats learn that stories change our world. The Middle Ages were full of brave knights, honourable kings, and noble queens, because that's what our stories tell us. Is it true? Of course not, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that people believe it. If you want to change the belief, you have to change the story.
At page 11 panel 4 of dream of a thousand cats as the siamese cat walks through the dreaming (talking to the raven) it says "'all places are the same to me" which is a refrence to rudyard kipling's the cat that walked by himself. (I might be wrong about the panel and the page)
The dream of Cats was very good, I did not think it was daft at all. Linked in nicely with cats being worshipped in ancient egypt and Lovecrafts Cats of Ulthar and of course Lovecrafts Dreamlands.
So happy I found your channel and I love your story telling! Thank You 🙏🏻 I just watched finished netflix The Sandman ep 11 Calliope and while waiting for season 2 i found you 🥳💕

Thank you Dannymalt for covering Batman The Long Halloween! I can't wait. If it does well, please cover another Batman storyline (maybe Batman Court of Owls or Batman Hush, or the Dark Knight Returns)in the future if the video does well.
Once I finish Sandman, I think I’m going to just jump around a lot more covering different series, before I focus in on a long term one again. I’ll definitely throw some more Batman’s’ in there.
I’m really enjoying the Sandman content. Do you know if the Batman story will be on HBO Max? More importantly, how many episodes of Sandman are in the works?
I don’t think Batman Long Halloween will be on HBO Max. I’m Canadian and we don’t have HBO Max here, so I’m not 100% on that. Supposedly they are planning 11 Sandman episodes to start.
I didn’t want to drop the money on it, but I’m curious what kinds of things it points out, and if it would help me point out more interesting factoids for my Sandman videos.
alright... well, i was going to bash on this weird comics, but, darn it! it was just ...interesting! ...anyway, i think the cat tale has something to do with faith, but in a 10000% scale, I mean, Jesus in the bible said that, "if one man had faith the size as a mustard seed, could tell a mountain to move from here to there and the mountain will obey having no other choice". Now to ask 100 cats to dream to change the world all at once and at the same time is upping up that 100 times 100 x 100 = 10000% (lol i don't know what i am talking about here, maphth!) But the cat said humans once did this, meaning humans once had the faith to change the world as it is today, but probably forgot and take day to day for granted, till one day, those 100 kittens will change the world once again.
