"Regular crorepatis". Never thought I would hear something like that Lmao.
Removing Cooled seats from a car being sold in India. Yeah.. great move Merc.
For the driver, not the back seats. Doubt any owner would drive this car. Plus 60lakh less. Thats a crazy amount.
This car is hands down the best car that came out this year. It has perfect amount of everything.
Go buy it and drive.
They did a lot of cost cutting.Removing rear axle steering,ventilated seats for front that too for Indian hot conditions.Even removed the 4d burmester sound which was one of the main highlights of new S class.Still S class best in its segment now doubt.
The burmester 4D came as an option though.
Is there a measured difference in fit and finish of the locally assembled mercs vs the CBUs (extra features aside)

We will still be a great fan of CBU unit S-class come what may!!

Imported S 450 was way more value for money compared to India made(CKD) , cause remember imported vehicle are taxed at 100% of there value.
I bet Mercedes is earning more money in S 350 compared to Imported S450.
This car not only has smaller engine but missing many features too like rear wheel steering etc...🤔
Is the S450 which is still being sold the imported unit?
The interior ambient lighting was the main interior charm.

Front and rear is not that eye catching.. predecessor was making more sense..
If I could afford to buy it, I would have missed rear wheel steering, ventilated seats with cooling function and the vertical stripes on the dash. The lack of these three features would have been a deal breaker.

I would take the 400d because it has more safety and better engine and better built quality than the 350d. So if you have the budget better to take the 400d.

without the wow factors this is not worth the upgrade from the previous generation S-class....surely the CBU unit owners r too lucky to get it all
Rear wheel steering reuqires better NVH levels as the system can't take a lot of continues shock and sudden bumps or potholes. No chance the system will survive in Indian roads.

The imported version didn’t just carry the classic cult status of being the ‘World’s Best Car’ but was also an epitome of S-class over its previous generations. The CKD version stripped the new S-class off that epitome and all that’s left now is a classic cult status. Removed rear axle, no 4D Burmester sound system, no ventilated seats and it’s even just a rear wheel drive (I guess. The 350d in international market is comes only in RWD format). Anybody now getting a S-class just desire for that novelty that comes with owning an S-Class sans the charm that the imported version reserved. BMW 7-Series and Audi A8 suddenly appear more appealing.

I didn't like the design of the alloy wheels of the indian version ... cbu unit looked great on the car after all that was the car which i personally liked ... hope mercedes gives their customers to choose between ckd and cbu versions of their s class

That the engine did not live up to your expectation is sad. Technically this OM654 is a very sound powerplant. Employs both a super charge & a turbo. The super charger not a parasite on the crank pulley but rather an electrically operated one. This with an aim to eliminate turbo-lag. Frankly the only bit of technology this engine has spared before declaring the complete evolution of the diesel ICE is it's fuel injection pump. Which is still driven by the crank pulley. I'm sure the next OM series engine will have electrically operated diesel fuel injection pump.
This tremendous limousine is better than all its rivals…it surpasses BMW 7-Series..Audi A8L and even Jaguar XJ-L..and i love Mercedes…because simply it is THE BEST OR NOTHING.
The joke is the old 5000₹ tablet in this car. The least they could have gone for the latest S7 plus tablet!
Still they could've tuned this 3L straight six to produce 330HP and 700Nms!, as it is doing in the GLS 400d.

They shouldn't be localising if they are going to remove the crucial features of the car if that is what it makes special
Also the rear axle steering is crucial in india where the roads are not that wide
Better buy the e class it's the best both money and comfort. (Only compared to foreign s class)

If the s class is my favourite limousine? Brother, its my always and only choice when it comes to most luxurious cars in the world then the rolls Royce.
Those complaining of missing features /things in new S class vis-a-vis older imported one are the regular crorepathis who cannot afford the both🤣

Audi a8 has a much nicer interior, but this mercedes has a fantastic exterior.

Diesel doesn't seem right in an S class
Why though? Most buyers actually prefer a diesel.
Every thing acceptable, but removing ventilated seats in India is a real deal breaker.
It has been successful 25years or a quarter of a century as they say it, for the Mercedes-Benz since they have started assembling their cars locally here in India.
When they celebrated their 10th anniversary of `Made in India’ campaign v.i.z assembling all of their nine models (including Maybach s class) in their first established independent plant in Pune, genuinely raised good possibilities of including other high luxury models like S-Class 450d, Maybach GLS 600 and Maybach S 580.
But in contrast to those raised possibilities, Mercedes Benz actually parted ways with expanding their portfolio of made in India campaign.
The newly introduced S-Class does not only lacks a series of features, but also comes up with a bitter feeling of distinctiveness and offbeat when compared to the older/classic S Class.

Those transmission tunnels in the back seat are annoying. Can't stand them. Most of the German luxury cars have it. They should know better. Very inelegant for a luxury car.
