  • Jason's British friends put him to the test trying popular British snacks.
Then we turn the tables and have them sample popular Midwest delicacies like Top the Tater and Salted Nut Roll.

Top The Tater is the dip of the gods. I’ll never forget when I had my California friend try it for the first time.

As found in a British Court a Biscuits go soft .where as Cakes go hard hard when stale .So Jaffa Cakes were classed as Cake .So no Tax ( VAT ) was charged on them .Classed as essential Foods .

A friend from Cornwall said that they use a flavoring similar to root beer for medicine (kind of like the 'bubble gum' flavor my kids' medicine was flavored with. So it tastes like medicine because it is the taste of their medicine! I will also say that World Market has a few of those Brit snacks if anyone wants to try some.

Back in the 60's to 80's in the UK one of the main suppliers of dentist mouthwash only sold root beer flavoured mouthwash as it was an American firm. When MacDonalds opened in the UK it used to sell root beer, however due to the dentists mouthwash, it really didn't sell, so now MacDonalds stopped stocking it.

Many people not from America hate root beer, and they all say the same thing: "It tastes like medicine."

Funnily enough, a lot of Americans seem to say the same about Dandelion & Burdock (a traditional, root-based fizzy drink here in the UK).

I'm American and I feel the same way. I never understood why people like it. I can handle it as an ice cream float and that's about it. haha

@@laceymuzzin3122 I completely understand. I feel that you needed to grow up on the stuff or you would dislike it.
