LYRICS:
Vs 1:
Blessed are those whose way is blameless
Who walk in the law of the Lord
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies
Who seek him with their whole heart
They do no wrong
But follow his ways
As they obey
Chorus:
I will praise you, Lord
I will praise you, Lord
With an upright heart teach me to obey
I will keep your word
I will keep your word
O forsake me not as I go your way
Vs 2:
Oh that my ways would be established
Help me to learn and obey
Fixing my eyes on all your commandments
So I will not be ashamed
You've laid them down
For my heart to keep
So carefully

Hi guys at Stillcreek. I just heard this song on premier praise Christian UK radio. It's got a great tune and beautiful melody.
However I encourage you to write more songs about the new covenant, or at least translate old covenant Psalms into new covenant anthems.
For example the line in your song " forsake me not as I go your way" could be confusing for new believers if they are not grounded in the new covenant. The truth is that as believers in Jesus he will never forsake or leave us. So singing " forsake me not" doesn't truly reflect our secure position as new creations in Christ
It's not about what we do it's about what Christ has already done for us.
There's a line in your song "blessed are those whose walk is blameless". The truth is that we are blessed because Jesus is walk was blameless before god, not our own walk. It could be easy to disqualify Christians and make them feel bad if they feel their conduct is not blameless and pure. We need to give people a better understanding of Grace not the law.
I just wanted to share that with you because it's a current trends to adapt and rework Psalms as modern songs, and songwriters have a duty to make sure that old covenant truths from the bible are translated into new covenant truths. Don't forget that David and other writers of the Psalms were under the old covenant, and did not have the sacrifice of Jesus and the righteousness as a gift given to them through the cross. That's why the people under the law had that potential doubt that God would forsake them, or if they didn't obey. But we as believers in Jesus and our new covenant status can sing differently.
We can now look back at the old testament through the obedience of Jesus, not our ability to keep god's commandments or be totally obedient. To be honest I wish your song have mentioned Jesus.
So many people out there think that God is angry with them or they are struggling with legalism, stuck "under law" when God has put them under grace.
I hope you understand what I mean.
