Wonderful stuff, glad this was preserved.
Wow the title picture of this film is incredible, that looks like the original riverscape of the Capilano before the dam and reservoir came to be.
We take our water resources for granted as our interest end at the tap. This video provides an interesting insight on the hidden story and its facts that lie beyond the tap. Every Lower Lower Mainlander should make an effort to view this most interesting documentary. It is a reminder of the fragility of our water supply network, as well as its limitations, and conservation challenges...
Thank you for posting this video.......always keep in mind the absolute importance of water for every living thing..
As a Water utility operator, this video is worth sharing to every Vancouverite!
Everytime this pops up on my feed I have to watch it. Maybe the 10th time.
neat, cast iron lead sealing in its time ( 17:38 )
We are so fortunate to have the best drinking water in the world.
What foresight those early engineers had in acquiring, the land around the reservoir's, we have a safe water supply, and important green space. Can you imagine what this would cost now! If you could even do it!! Laugh, check out the Red Ensign @ 13:40 we didn't even have the maple leaf yet when this was filmed!! @ 17:38 is that lead??
Sounds like Vincent Price is the narrator ...

It was a rock quarry until 1911 and then made into a reservoir in the 1920’s. It was covered in the late 1940’s and became a parking lot with the fountains. It had a major rebuild a few years before 2010 and the nearly 90 year old supply pipes and valves were replaced and the top cover was also replaced.
