Sorry for not responding sooner, ok so I bought the goss ga-11 tip to go with this set-up on the back it has a chart for soft solder and silver soldering capabilities, but I believe that they meant to say silver brazing so i went to their website and found the correct chart and put a picture of it in the video, so when I said silver soldering i should have said silver brazing sorry for the confusion, and yes you need brazing rods if the material ur joining needs to be heated above 842*F. Silver brazing is commonly called “hard soldering” or “silver soldering” which is erroneous because silver brazing alloys melt in the range of 1145⁰ F to 1761⁰F (1761⁰F - melting point of pure silver), which is above the 842°F melting point used to distinguish between soldering and brazing. The brazing rods i used in video are the Lucas Milhaupt sil•fos 5 flow pt. Temperature 1325*F.
I works good, its alot easier to carry around, with the small tip it lasts about 2.5 hours, and allows u to braze up to 1/2” copper. On average I get about 1.5 hours of use because I braze up to 1-1/8” copper so I alternate between the 3 tip, 8 tip, and the 11 tip sizes. I purchased the 11 tip size separately
Thank you, If ur using the ga-3 tip only then you’ll get 2.5 hours. If ur using the ga-8 tip only then you’ll get 1.5 hours. If ur alternating between both meaning using ur ga-3 tip for the smaller copper lines such as 1/8”-1/2” and ga-8 tip for 3/4”-7/8” copper lines then probably around 2 hours of usage
Yea no problem man👍, I didn’t find too much info on this torch kit before buying, so hopefully this video gives people a better idea of what to expect. Also as long as you have the correct size tip for your application the kit performs really good.
Ive had mine for 20+ years, very pleased.
Thats a long time, good to know they last long👍
You can place a fire extinguisher in that open spot.
That’s a good idea, thanks for sharing 👍
Silver solder copper, what about brazing rods are they also classified as solder or they are specifically braze tip

Great video thanks!
No problem 👍
How you liking this torch? Thinking of getting this same kit. How long does the mc tank last with the small tip? Or on an average?

Hi good review, how long last mc tank is this setup?

That is acetylene gas?
Yes sir 👍
Thanks!
A complete video.

What fuel does it run on? it looks like a hot flame
It runs on acetylene only, the flame depends on the tip you use, I bought the a11 tip to braze up to 1-1/2” copper.
Ha....12 foot hose
