    Can not wait for the LMT vs. KAC video, as IMHO, they are pretty similar for the price range and features.
    LMT: Proprietary mono-upper where you can't switch the rail, and IIRC, can't use standard AR barrel due to its QD barrel extension.
    KAC: Proprietary E3 bolt design where you can't use standard AR barrel due to non-standard barrel extension for its E3 bolt... but you can use other types of standard AR dimension barrel if you ditch its unique E3 bolt.

    It’s a shame New Zealand didn’t have this rifle yet when I was still in the New Zealand Infantry. All I had in Afghanistan was my crummy Steyr which I had issues with. The new generation grunts at 1RNZIR don’t know how lucky they are.

      What kind of problems did you encounter with your AUG ?

    • @P1015532oni
      @P1015532oni 4 роки тому

      PoshPrince it was weird. It fails to load a round into the chamber every now and again whenever we go out on patrol. It doesn’t go completely into battery. Doesn’t do it every time. Just half the time. When it messes up, I’d have to charge it again two or three times before it loads. I even reduced the rounds in my magazine to 28 just to see if it gets better but it didn’t. Funny thing is, I had multiple AUGs in my career and none of them had this problem... which is even funnier because the one I had in Afghanistan was brand new. I was the first user. The problem didn’t start until I had around 400 or so rounds through it and I took it to the Armorer twice. The first time around, they found nothing wrong with it and just gave it back to me. It messed up again after a couple weeks and I took it back. This time around, they swapped a few parts and then it worked perfectly... up until the last week of my deployment. Same problems. I honestly had stripped and inspected and maintained my rifle countless times at this point and could find nothing wrong with it. Took it back to the armorers again and they admitted they’ve never found anything wrong with any of it’s parts, they just replaced some to see if it fixes the issues and funny enough, it did the trick... but if you ask me, no soldier on patrol should worry about things like this. Weapons should be 100%. Years later, when I was already out of the Army, I found out New Zealand replaced the AUGs because so many soldiers had similar issues with their weapons. Some of them similar to what I had. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one. The Army kind of blamed the desert conditions. Which I’m not fully convinced because what self-respecting infantryman has dust caked onto his rifle at the start of patrol?

    • @ThePoshPrince
      @ThePoshPrince 4 роки тому

      @@P1015532oni thanks for this long feedback. I tought the AUG was a reliable weapon, i'm still a novice in the gun community but maybe the specific 5.56 the neo-zeland army used was a part of the problem ? In France here the FAMAS can reportedly have some problem when used with brass-cased ammunition. Or maybe the magazine ?

    • @P1015532oni
      @P1015532oni 4 роки тому

      PoshPrince probably not the ammo. We used the same M885 green tips that the American troops have. The Americans are our ammo suppliers. And also, prior to Afghanistan, New Zealand troops have been deploying to East Timor for years but didn’t seem to have issues there. On hindsight, maybe the Army had a point about AUGs having issues in desert environments. It’s not all rifles having issues. In fact, the Majority probably didn’t. But maybe there are significant enough numbers to prompt the Army to switch to the LMTs.

    Merry Christmas Bartocci's!
    I got the MLR upper a few months ago, it's lighter vs the original MRP SLK upper for sure. I like having the MLOK on the angles, and not just at 3.6. & 9.
    I got the Arisaka Defense Scout light mount for MLOK. That fits closer to the fore end than any other mount I'm aware of. Only way to get it closer would be to tape it on there.
    One thing I've found though....the MLOK screws had to be filled down just a bit, they were almost touching my gas block, where I mount my bipod. And now I'll have to remove my MLOK accessories to change barrels. Not a criticism, but that's the trade off for such a small diameter fore end.

    LMT needs to update their website now that they have updated their lower. They have many excellent configuration options but the way they present them all together and their less than intuitive naming conventions. I find their website is confusing. Recently got one of the LMT MLK's, I want to love it and do in a lot of ways but it has a terrible upper to lower fit, issues with some gen2 pmags fitting too tight so you have to pull them out hard and some not allowing the bolt to release (had it with 4-5 different gen2 pmags), hand guard heats up super quick (like 40 rounds over 15 minutes, 2 rounds per mag at a time), chatter marks from machining on carrier and hand guard. I think they need to open up the magwell a bit, sloppier is okay on that. A little larger hand guard for heat or slimmer barrel options. Oh and ship it with a non tilt follower magazine, c'mon in 2018 no green followers. Still a LMT fan.

      Not only is the gas block pinned, it has to be heated to expansion and pressed on. I saw them do this at the factory and it isn’t going anywhere, mine hasn’t in 6000 rounds anyway.

      @@DocMitchell69 I get that and they make a fine rifle, but I like to shop for discounts and when you don't even know the SKU on their product it makes it impossible to do an internet search and comparison. I've bought some fantastic rifles over the years at incredible bargains via search engines, but you can't do this with LMT. I bought an HK MR556A1 for only $2100 which included a Pelican case. @@z50com $1000 AR rifle generally isn't going to compare with a 2K or more rifle. Proprietary matters for sure, and BCM makes good stuff. Who are the big 6? Daniel Defense, BCM, LMT, Colt, Noveske, and Knight's, according to people with way more time on each than me. I'd add HK, PWS, and maybe some others. Of those 8, I've experience with my 3. You're better off with a Mini 14. I think spending that kind of money on an AR in 2019 is stupid because I don't think the Gun Grabbers are going to let us keep them much longer.

      @@NoHomo1776 Reality check buying things that you're not going to be allowed to keep is illogical. The next time the Libs are in power the Assualt Weapons Ban will pass. Once that happens mandatory registration of all firearms classified as assualt weapons by the AWB is right around the corner and after registration comes confiscation. The Mini 14 is exempted by features and by name to the AWB but AR's are not. You're better off with a Mini 14 than this LMT.

      @@gsxr1189 First of all, don't be a pussy, if you're American, nobody "allows" you to own firearms, it's your 2nd Amendment right to own firearms. Secondly, you're basing your entire decision to throw your money away purchasing a piece of shit gun like the Ruger on a big assumption. Lastly, even if another ban were to occur, what makes you think the government would stop with anything they deem an "assault weapon?!" By your logic, you must also assume that an over reaching government like that could also seek to classify a mini-14 an assault weapon. All they would need to do is edit their definition of an "assault weapon," to include any features of the mini-14.

      @@gsxr1189 So?...It's only death. Pffft, You act like you have something to live for. They'll run out of confiscaters when they get to around B on confiscation list. There's more AR's on the streets of America than in the Arsenals. 3.5 million people have cycled through the the GWOT in the last 15 years. That's a lot of battle hardened people on the streets. We would've been two years and up to our waists in RW2 if Trump wouldn't been elected.

      @@DutchK75The assualt weapons ban will pass it's not a question of if it's a question of when. They will be in power again eventually to pass their BS laws it's only a matter of time. I suggest you begin to figure what you're going to do once that happens. Once the AWB passes they aren't going to let you keep grandfathered banned weapons for long. Unlikely that a version of the AWB Bill writen while Lib's were in power grandfathered weapons at all.
