  • Have you heard of the Iron Dome missile defense system developed by Israel? The next version of this defense system is the Iron Beam. It is a laser-based defense weapon, meaning it uses laser light to operate. It is said to be still in the testing phase.
    In fact, LASER is not a weapon. It is a device that emits a special type of light beams. The first LASER was invented in 1960. Soon after its invention, many movies were released that depicted laser-based weapons. As a result, people have formed an image of laser as a futuristic weapon. The time periods depicted as the future in those movies have already passed, but lasers have not yet been used as full-fledged weapons.
    Today, lasers have become a part of our everyday lives. Many people have devices in their homes that use lasers. Lasers are used in devices such as DVD players, laser pointers, laser printers, barcode scanners used in supermarkets, and the FACE ID system and LiDAR scanner on iPhones.
    All of these are very low-power lasers. However, there are also high-power lasers that can generate temperatures higher than those in the core of the sun. This type of laser has been used to artificially create fusion reactions on Earth.
    Many people wonder why laser-based weapons are still in the testing phase despite all of this.
    What is a laser? How does it work? What are the special properties of the light it emits? What are the problems in using it as a weapon?
    Let's take a look at this video.

    Really fantastic video about laser weapons and we get new insights about how this will help humanity to change the warfare methods and this video helps us understand not only how laser works as a weapon but also we understand how coherence of a light wave can do magic. Please make videos about Sound waves and all type of Electromagetic waves also and explanations are really simple for a common man to understand. Thank you for macking such wonderful video!

    Iron beam laser will not work if target has mirrored/reflective surface & rotates to reduce over concentrated heating

      Can't they increase the power of laser to increase its distance? Can 2 or more lasers combined like putting several LED lights in one torchlight to increase its power to burn up a target?

      Manufacturing reflective missiles would be very expensive and reflection has also it's limited effectiveness.
      So increasing the power of laser is the answer
      After all, increasing laser power by several orders of magnitude is stil less expensive than firing disposable interception high tech missiles in large numbers
      The power of weapon laser should be designed with the assumption only little fraction of this power will be enough to destroy an intercepted missile.
      Especially much of this energy will be dispersed in the atmosphere.

    In such a relatively long video You should use UA-cam-Chapters.

    Since this ought to be a video about laser weapons, a chapter about all the problems with the dispersion of the laser by air, atmosphere, clouds, fog and the like is missing. See the work of Prof. Dr. William Happer while he worked for the DOD!

    does that mean if you put mirrors on a missle the lazer would return

    You guys got it all wrong. Both air and ground based. You dont need more KW than you have right now. You just need more of them. Imagine 100 individual 150 KW lasers on one target. Use an AI to target and coordinate fire.

    Using a thick anti glare material or a mirror-like coating on a drone easily protects it from this supposedly defense system, it’s only light after all

    Does it use the latest breakthrough in utilising plasma and helium to intensify the speed of light ratio to faster than the speed of light? Only then can it become a powerful ' star wars' laser.

    US Americans are mostly unable to use SI units, even if they are commonly used. Megawatt has to be MW (capital letters for enlargement of the basic units, except 'k' = kilo), and Kilowatt has to be kW. Watt must also be written with a capital letter. 'mW' would be Milliwatt, 1/1000 Watt. Take care and don't write something, but adhere to the rules. 'Kw' is wrong twice!

    6:48 "One of the reasons, that laser light can travel long distances, while remaining collimated is due to this perfect alignment of the waves." No, coherence does not cause collimation. This statement is wrong.

    • @ScienceSimplified4All
      @ScienceSimplified4All  3 дні тому

      coherence do not cause collimation. But it helps collimation to stay for longer distances.

    5:40 The mentioning of the function of the mirror on the Moon in conjunction with the measurement of the distance to earth is excepting and confusing in relation to the actual topic of being collimated. You better redo this section!

    • @ScienceSimplified4All
      @ScienceSimplified4All  3 дні тому

      I was only mentioning that A laser light stays parallel even over such great distances unlike other long-distance lights like the light from light house etc.

  • @Manorainjan
    @Manorainjan 3 дні тому

    7:25 "The main problem with light produced by heat is, that it contains many different wavelengths."
    Really? Why would that be "the main problem"? As far as we produce light in order so see our environment, we are very happy with light that consists of all the different wavelengths of the visible part of the spectrum.
    Monochromatic light would be a terribly unergonomic environment.

    • @ScienceSimplified4All
      @ScienceSimplified4All  3 дні тому

      in that part of the video, I was mentioning about what are the conventional light sources and why they cannot be used for lasers. Having different wavelength is a disadvantage if we intend to use that light for lasers. I did not mention that having different wavelength is a disadvantage for a light source in general.

      @@ScienceSimplified4All "why they cannot be used for lasers." You meant to say that, but You didn't. For the audience it is irrelevant, what You meant to say. It is only relevant what You are actually saying.
