An accurate and safe procedure. Nice presentation.
Very well put together video. Should have moved all the burnt matches. Shows it could take more than a few to light.
About how often should you replace the mantles? How can you tell when they are ready to be replaced?
+mvol5973 As he said, they are very brittle and fragile. After priming they are just ash. Once they are fully primed they are pure white. When they are good they glow with an intense white light. What happens is they eventually break or crack from a bump or just use. You will see a soft flame at the tear. It is pretty obvious. If you can't easily see anything wrong the mantle is probably OK. They are replaced as needed, not on a schedule.
thank you pal
you sound exactly like Tom Green.
nobody has a video on here about the handling and maintenance, "do's and don'ts " and things to keep with your Coleman lantern. I just bought one for three dollars and the guy said he just replaced the mantles, Trying to fix it up as best i can giving it the tlc it needs i want to clean it up taking the globe off, out of curiosity i inspect these mantle bag's and they seem to be crunchy and brittle even though they are "new". now they are ruined. nobody feel's it necessary to give a warning.
