@arizonie602 great choice, second to none imo dude. U should cut up some old tights to go around them though. Totally stops any water getting out thru the holes while keeping all it's root pruning capabilities. U can wrap 1 litre pots with the thin leg piece. 3 litre pots with the fat leg piece and 12.5 litre pots with the waist piece. Each one is a nice tight fit too. This makes for one unbeatable pot 💯 🔥 😎

I also dont water all in one shot. If i have 1 gallon of water/food for a plant. I dump in slowly 1/4 the water and let it soak in. Then wait a little. Then another 1/4 and so on. Ive also taken 2 liter bottles and poked small holes into lid, then added a base/stand while bottle is upside down and it stands in pot upside dwn and drips water/nutes down slowly but if they nutes are gritty or anything it can slowly build up and clogg opening. Better in theory than application lol

I put my starters in my small tent in 7 gal Smart Pots, good soil and in the center I put starter soil. This saves me a step from trans planting. If I grow big yield plants I use 20 gallon Smart Pot and germinate inside it, it works very well for 64 y/o granny, got to work smart not harder. Another reason is i can shove my 7 gallons inside together regardless of shape until i transfer to a larger tent to flower.

i used fabric pots, I went to solid plastic pots after. easier to clean, and I water less. results are par to fabric pots, besides it’s just for myself anyway. Making my hobby easier makes it more enjoyable. Also, when the soil gets dry, it shrinks so the air gets in them as well, plus the roots are majority on the top layer of soil. If the roots are everywhere, means you have a lot of air pockets, lots of perlite or pumice in the soil. As long as the pot is raised above the water, your plant will grow pretty good. I’m at that stage that I just like good flowers, no popcorns, and no rots. i’m happy to be medicated.😅

Little tip for dude... U can cut a pair of tights up to go around the pot for a perfect fit. The top waist part fits 12.5 litre and the leg parts fits the 1 litre and 3 litre. Stops pretty much ALL of the leakage. I'd say less than 1%. And that's with hand watering still retains all of its air pruning capabilities too... 😉😎

I cannot tell if it is better than fabric because I have not used other pots before. I heard you can get a much bigger yield using fabric with SIP.

I use airpots on a grid elevated by 25 cm, with bowls placed under each plant. This way, any excess water runs through the grid into the bowls, making it very easy to clean by simply emptying the bowls.
At the top of the airpots, I have attached a 10 cm ring from an equally sized plastic pot, as most of the annoying water overflow occurs in this area. With the rings, the water can only be absorbed downward in the first 10 cm and not flow out to the sides. The airpot effect is still fully present because the roots tend to "skip" this area anyway.

Smartpots is one of the original fabric bag brands, if not the original.
There are MANY fabric pot companies out there now, including eveyone's favorite tent companies such as VIVOSUN, and I think ACInfinity has their own bags now too.
I'm sure transplanting is a B, but one issue I CONSTANTLY have with SmartPot brand is that the bags FLOP over if you don'T fill them op completely. One thing I would do is take the side and flip them around the edge so that I would reduce the height, but that gets annoying too, and sometimes you cannot get it to go down fully.
I have grow bags and the raised beds from smartpots, both the same. I also have the compost bags and that's a PITA Too.
I believe the company is "Grassroots" and BuildASoil sells these fabric bags with a plastic lining that keeps water from coming out of the sides.
I did notice a plastic smell at first, but that went away. I also notice these bags are MUCH MORE RIGID than the smartpots, and don't bend over easily.
I think I will be going with more of these bags in the future.

Whats difference between fabric pots and grow bags?
Maybe I don't understand English as good as a foreign.
Can you please explain that more exactly?
Because I also thought that drainage is an issue but since I am using less plants with bigger undertables to catch the Drainage under the growbags it's Not an issue anymore. 😏But I also feel that my hand watering is never really on point.

I did answer this in a previous comment. Different material. Fabric pots are made of polypropylene…kinda like a soft, breathable felt material. The grow bags many people refer to are just rougher, not as much aeration. They usually have like that burlap-ish feel to it.

  • @taylordauwe

+1 for airpots. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re doing yourself an injustice. For autos, I typically just run a regular 3 gallon bpa free nursery pot cause autos, in my experience, have only really vegged for about 3 weeks before they flower so the pots don’t really need to be huge with a root system that underdeveloped. For photos, I’ve run airpots, larger bpa free nursery pots and fabric pots. Each have their own pros and cons but if I had to pick and stay with one, it would be the airpots for sure. That paired with some coco and it’s essentially impossible to overwater. Dryback period is super quick and the plants can feed a lot more.
