WJRZ The Shore's best rock! Great neon wipers, they add 50hp! lol Thanks for the blast from the past. It's a shame Seaside's become such a wreck since then.
Wow unreal. I'm from Toronto but my sister and I spent every summer between '85-93 in Toms River, NJ at my cousins house. We would go to the boardwalk all the time back then. This video is so nostalgic in every way, even the radio playing takes me back to those amazing songs we grew up listening to....
Funny, now WJRZ has been playing those same songs as an oldies station. Only the rebuilt Casino Pier left after the '13 fire. Got a pool now. Clubs on the blvd. gone. Too bad. Good times!
Thank you so much for this post. Oh, how many times I crossed that bridge in my life. And that sweet Wilson Philips harmony, I was half in love with Chynna. Jezzuz Christ the memories!!!
Wow, that was excellent! 90’ was probably about the time I last saw Seaside. 79-85 we went every year for two weeks. One of the greatest places ever. Then moved to Florida and they have nothing like it.
This is super interesting to me! I was born in the 2000s and grew up in Central NJ so it's interesting to see what it was like prior to me being born. So cool!
Wow this video brought back amazing memories of my younger life growing up. My dad took me here when I was little, first we stopped at Great Adventure and I took 1 look at scream machine and was like NOPE so he kept driving and we wound up at water works and casino pier. I'll never forget that log flume also, it was the best one of my childhood and the corkscrew waterslide. It's so amazing that there's footage like this to bring back some great memories, THANKS

jerseygirl1125 I just love seeing how it looked back then bcuz now it looks like a different place all together! I spent most of my weekends down there during these times n would stay one week every summer
That's so awesome how many F-body cars (Camaros and Firebirds) I seen in this video lol. I can't believe there were so many around back then in Seaside! And around 05:42 we can see the Surfside motel! I just stayed there this past weekend from 8/6/16 to 8/8!!! I wanna go back to Seaside I love it there!!!
I'm from North Jersey and we used to go to Seaside Heights most summers. It was a good time to be alive. I forgot how dumpy and cheezy it actually was, but it didn't matter to a teenager who was on the prowl.
I've lived around here my whole life and have been to the seaside boardwalk many many times. And this takes me back. Those were very special, unique times. I was there a few weeks ago and a lot of it is exactly the same. The biggest difference is the southern end where the sawmill fire was, that's totally different and much more commercialized rather than the old seedy Scooby-doo boardwalk maze with sketchy rides. They also had a huge indoor section with a large merry-go-round. It's much more sterile now
The southern section of the boardwalk was mostly empty after Sandy, but now the area is getting “filled” in with businesses and whatnot. It’s more sterile and more catered to wealthy families that don’t respect the local area, and build their ugly townhomes that replace affordable bungalow homes for the average family.
seems to be mostly restaurants and food places... not many good arcades since coin castle changed to spicy and the other merry go round arcade is gone. there even used to be a cat that hung around the wheel stand at casino pier
This is so cool! I was 8yrs old when this vid was shot, didn't go to Seaside until a few years after this vid but I still remember that drive in, it's ingrained into my brain, the smell of that salt water lol. It was also very cool seeing all the cars. I'm a huge Fox body fan and seeing them only a couple years old just cruising around was so cool. Also pretty cool (I guess haha!) seeing all the F-Body cars, seems to be more Firebirds then Camaros which I like those F-Body firebirds better anyway.
I especially love the commercials, I grew up in Monmouth & Ocean counties but wasn't even born yet in 1990. I know all those places they talk about on the radio.
terrific video. wow. great time capsule. I would spend a week there each year during those years. I still go each year but stay in Toms River. Hope they can rebuild it.
Amazing, thank you for sharing. I was in Seaside at the very time this video was shot, though I was a kid at the time. The SECOND this video started, with Sinnade on the radio, immediately brought me back to having that same experience.
I know this truck that is being taken for a drive is a Dodge truck because of the Ram hood ornament I can see. Is it a Ram Pickup or RamCharger? It’s obviously sounding gasoline not diesel because of the noise
Nothing had really changed besides where the Sawmill used to be, very different place now. Houses got bigger, the restaurants have changed, and the businesses have changed, the small things. But even 33 years later, it’s still mostly the same.

This video screams 80s/90s jersey shore. Absolutely love living here.
WJRZ is such a solid soundtrack in this video haha
Right in the heart of “Bruce Springsteen Country” - I’m sure the Boss himself probably drove along this road at some point. I love it!
Thank you, quite possibly Bruce did drive this strip, only 20 miles south of his stomping ground Asbury Park.

OMG...I use to have those same wiperblades with the 3 fins also but in black...lol. Great video of Seaide😁
That Grand National in the beginning of the video👍🏼
Thank you so much for this post. Oh, how many times I crossed that bridge in my life. And that sweet Wilson Philips harmony, I was half in love with Chynna. Jezzuz Christ the memories!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The songs, the happy baby in the back, old cars and happiness. What a great video! Thank you so much!

Yes! The old Log Flume ride!!! Now that brings back some memories!
That's the one that lasted what seemed like about 15 to 20 minutes, wasn't it?
I was 5 years old when this was made. I remember going here every year with my dad. This is how seaside still looks in my mind.
Wow this video brought back amazing memories of my younger life growing up. Thank you for the memories, i lived in island heights, right next to Tom's river in 90, goid times man
I was getting dizzy watching the first few minutes of this! Still very cool - it's recognizably the same.
omg such memories....Joey Harrison's Surf Club...Baby-O's....Changes......sigh....I wish I could go back....
Fox Body 5 Liter Mustangs Ruled the streets back then … And they still do today!
Anthony Ribera vanilla ice made it a huge style points thing back then
I'm from North Jersey and we used to go to Seaside Heights most summers. It was a good time to be alive. I forgot how dumpy and cheezy it actually was, but it didn't matter to a teenager who was on the prowl.
Surfside motel looked exactly the same in 2011

Must of been nice having the bridge fully open
3:27 looks like my mom's camaro. This is how I remember seaside. Thank you. Also all the GM B body wagons.
I especially love the commercials, I grew up in Monmouth & Ocean counties but wasn't even born yet in 1990. I know all those places they talk about on the radio.

Amazing, thank you for sharing. I was in Seaside at the very time this video was shot, though I was a kid at the time. The SECOND this video started, with Sinnade on the radio, immediately brought me back to having that same experience.

i would have been a high school sophmore at Toms River East during this video
good times. not the same after the fire. not even close.
I could only imagine the epidemic of t tops getting stolen from F body cars (camaro firebird) back then.

Im impressed with your steady hand.Have you ever considered becoming a professional cameraman?
Water works with those slides that scraped your elbows!
Dudeguypal the straight drops were insane
Omg, I think every 5 cars had those terrible windshield wipers, haha
6:52 really cool music! :D
Sadly almost every single vehicle in this video ended up in Cash for Clunkers 😢
Dude I know. I remember being here around these times. Just picked up an 84 z28 and I'm road tripping it here.
That section near Sawmill would be destroyed by fire decades later....
Too bad cameras didn't have OIS back then. Awesome footage though
Agreed! That combined with the fact I was riding in a late 80's 4-wheel drive truck, I'm sure suspensions have gotten smoother too.
$4 parking?? What's it now, like $40?
Railer505 yup I parked for $20 2 weeks ago
I know this truck that is being taken for a drive is a Dodge truck because of the Ram hood ornament I can see. Is it a Ram Pickup or RamCharger? It’s obviously sounding gasoline not diesel because of the noise
It was my friends truck, definitely gasoline. Pretty sure it was the RamCharger because it had 2 rows for seating.
What was it like in the year 1990 ? And what is it like now.
Nothing had really changed besides where the Sawmill used to be, very different place now. Houses got bigger, the restaurants have changed, and the businesses have changed, the small things. But even 33 years later, it’s still mostly the same.
What on earth is the green thing on your wiper? It looks like a crocodile!
