Chasing Tip-ups! Ice Fishing for PIKE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 гру 2023
- In the latest episode of Wisconsin Fisherman we set out to catch some northern pike on tip ups.
The fish were slow to start biting, but that turned around and we caught some nice fish! We were using a good ole fashioned beaver dam tip -up with shiner minnows and sucker minnows.

My wife doesn't like being cold so we don't get on the ice much but we have made hunting and fishing a family thing when it works for all parties involved and it makes memories and photos that will live for generations, love the videos, thanks from central MN!!
She has heated socks on try to make her as comfortable as possible there are ways around the cold. Thanks for watching. Good luck!
Gotta keep em warm for sure. The hut and heater are always present when we are on the ice. Happy fishing from the PNW
I like how you are explaining what setups and methods you're using now. It definitely helps people who might not know about it otherwise.
That first pike was like, hmmm my food seems a little.......fishy🤣🤣
Wow congrats on that huge bass!
Cool. That bass was huge. Great job. Looks like another successful day of fishing.
Great video and I really enjoy all the underwater action shots! Especially with that larger pike who was just hovering by that shiner for so long.
nice 30 inch pike and wow, those bass were hungry.
nice video as always, Kyle!
keep em coming
Happy new year to you both! I enjoy seeing the happiness you share together! Special bond! See you guys on the next one!
Thanks Kyle and Sid! Happy New Year to both of you! I am a subscriber and enjoy all of your videos. Stay safe! Dave
Happy new year Dave!
Great video as always!!! Those are the best flag days. Variety!!!
You bet! Thanks!!
Nice to see someone ice fishing I live in western Massachusetts on December 30th was fishing from shore on a lake I usually would have 4inches of ice by now😮
Nice !
Great vid!
Thanks for letting some fish go. Most fishermen in Wisconsin don't. We could have great opportunity for trophy fish if people would stop eating everything they catch.
Very true!
Happy New Year 🐟😊
Happy new year!
I'm so glad your wife outfishes ya ....lol!!! Cool luved the crappie catch n cook perfect way
Lol you bet! Thanks for joining!
Have been for years wasn't it last year ya lost a sled in and ua showed the video and I think recovery?
Looken like fun
In Spooner area I checked lakes on Friday small lakes still water on landing
They are still bad now. The snow is covering some bad spots so be sure to spud out there
pike hits are the best
Dude that looks like 2 inches of ice!
It was just over 4”
All good!
Those tip ups look like beaver dam ones I have them if you that a saw and cut grove in the top you can take your line out to wind tie that's what I did much easier to wind up !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear ya there but I don’t wrap my line in the spool I don’t like the curls.
Hi Kyle, How do you store the line so that there is no curls in the leaders? I agree, the curls are a problem. I have my leaders just hanging straight down from my tipups in my garage right now with plans of spooling them just before I take them out to fish. THANKS! Dave

Great video Kyle and Sidney, this makes me envy for ice fishing it is almost January and we still don’t have any ice in Green Bay. Happy New Year to the both of you!
Thanks Dale! Happy new year!
Hey Kyle! What was the “button” you used as a depth marker? I think I need some of those!
The ones I have are a two hole button standard issue
Hi John, I like to use a small, white or bright colored button. Small so you can wrap it in the spool of the tipup. Bright colored so it is easy to see in the water. Instead of a button I also use a bead with the line looped through it twice; this way it doesn't just slide up and down the line. I use a bright bead about the size of a pencil eraser. My friend uses a tiny clip on bobber; this works well too. Good luck!
❤️🎣
How do you keep those cheap jaw spreaders from damaging the fish? Tried them and didn't like the holes they made, so now have the type with the T-shaped end.
Much better, no more punctures in their jaws.
Every once in a while, it’ll puncture through. I haven’t seen the T ones though.
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman I have the Cuda brand, but Tyrant, O'Pro, and others make a version as well. When I was still using the basic one, I slid short pieces of vinyl tubing over the ends. It stuck out past the sharp point and worked well.
I have to unsubscribe to be in the popular crowd... Oh wait I'm not popular... Happy New Year
