Lit one on the beach, watched it float straight in the direction of my home about a ½mile away. Two days later, I found it in my neighbors front yard tree, just two doors down from me.

I was thinking of getting some for a camp by the lake with a group of people. Came here to check about them. I see it falls while still on fire. Very bad idea in Australia then.

The sky lantern fuel was still burning, it can cause severe forest fires
The foliage was wet from recent rain.
They’re usually made of wood and paper so it’s biodegradable
Such a beautiful house and place to live, i live in the big city if Miami where a sky lantern landed on my drive way :P that is why i am here
At least paper lanterns are biodegradable unlike regular balloons

It did for a different sky lantern. You may think I'm crazy but I saw it disappear in the sky once.

These things are not safe. I love them, they’re beautiful, but there is no fiddling the facts. They are not safe. You’re sending a block of burning fuel into the air with zero control of it once it leaves your hands. Something as a simple as a change of wind could be catastrophic. I have used them before, but stopped years ago after a near miss. I now refuse to touch them when family members are using them. I won’t even assist in launching. I want no legal liability.
