Pentatonix did not compete with Home Free, Pentatonix won in season 3 of the Sing - Off and Home Free won in season 4, the show only ran for 5 seasons, but some great acapella groups got their careers boosted and I wish the show was brought back. Home Free, Filharmonic & VoicePlay were all competing in season 4 but Home Free won that year.
Ptx did Not beat Home Free! Home Free has original songs. Home Free is the best! These songs keep getting done because they are long loved classics. Thanks for the Home Free reactions. I think he would like their " Do You Hear What I Hear " so he can see how different a classic Christmas song can be and what their beatboxer can do. He arranged it.
You're wrong. Tim has a 5 octave range. So he can sing high tenor. Maybe not in the same way as Austin, but he can hit those high notes. Take a look at his solo work.
Home Free's "Christmas in LA" is awesome. New take on Christmas and loving' it! Might ought to check out their version of "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "Mary Did You Know" too.
Home Free is: Rob Lundquist (beard & glasses, tenor), Tim Foust (first one to sing, bass with a 5 octave range and known to blow out speakers), Adam Rupp (short hair, beatboxer who prefers not to sing, but a beautiful tenor voice), Austin Brown (2nd one to sing, high tenor), and Chris Rupp (wearing a hat, brother to Adam, usually sings baritone, left group in 2016 and was replaced by Adam Chance (known as Chance and sings baritone but can sing bass and fills in when Tim sings lead).
Agree to disagree about everything except "this is my favorite version of this song. " I totally agree with that statement. Hope y'all have a very merry Christmas!!
My favourite rendition of this hymn. The singing & harmonies are outstanding and the church is gorgeous! I don't think you've seen "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" (with the Oak Ridge Boys) or "Christmas in Dixie" (with Alabama) but they're both must-sees! I think their rendition of "Born in the U.S.A." would also prove a lyric surprise. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
I always enjoy watching people get introduced to Home Free. But if I could make a suggestion,.................HEAD PHONES! Other than that, I really had fun watching your reaction. Thanks for this. You may wish to know that Home Free has several not-so-common Christmas songs which you might really enjoy. Can't wait to see more. God bless.
Comparing Home Free to PTX is like comoaring apples to oranges! Both groups are great in their own way....but each have a totally different style! I do agree That this is the best version of this song ever! I just saw them sing this live on the 9th....it was absolutely breathtaking! I just subbed for more Home Free!
Pentatonix won season three of The Sing-Off. Home Free won season four of The Sing-Off. To be guaranteed a spot on the show, Home Free allowed themselves to be labeled the token country group even though they can and do all genres of music. The top three acapella groups are Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay. Voiceplay was on season four of The Sing-Off with Home Free. Although Home Free and Voiceplay were competitors, the two groups formed a friendship. They later did a video together called Zombies vs. Hillbillies. After The Sing-Off, Home Free made a video of Ring of Fire with Pentatonix's Avi Kaplan. He also appeared in a brief cameo in Home Free's Champagne Taste with a Beer Budget. Avi has now resigned from Pentatonix and has a very successful solo career. Miriah Carey did a remake of All I Want For Christmas. It's an old song. Home Free has written some original Christmas songs: Snow Globe, The Warmest Winter, Full of Cheer _(funny), Cold Hard Cash (funny) Also Home Free became friends with Filaharmonic who were also on season four of The Sing-Off. Home Free and Filaharmonic had to do a "sing-off" in the quarter-finals when all the groups were paired with another group. Home Free and Filaharmonic were paired together and performed It's All Right from Caddyshack. You ought to see the performance. They had everyone dying of laughter and received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges.h It was a running joke during the show that Home Free couldn't dance like many of the other groups. You need to see their rehearsal for their performance where Filahaermonic teaches Home Free to dance and tells Rob to move "like a mermaid." Rob evidently is challenged in the dancing department. Neither group (like Tim foretold "we ain't going nowhere")_was eliminated. This performance largely saved Filaharmonic so they could go on to the next round. Home Free all through The Sing-Off was never in danger of being sent from the competition. The show highlighted Home Free. They used Tim and Austin as leads in the beginning performance with all the groups. Austin nearly lost his voice due to the producers wanting him to repeat continuously his high notes.
Maybe a Lil research is required before giving out info. U can ask us Home Fries pretty much anything about these boys and we will be able to answer ur questions
This song was my first introduction to Home Free--and they've been my favorite musicians ever since! Love it when these guys voice the bell tones🔔 Besides the unbelievable harmonies--and gorgeous church backdrop--getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is a real treat ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree #HomeFreeDoesChristmasBest #AdamRuppSinging
My favorite "O Holy Night" performers are David Phelps, Home Free, and John Davidson. For "Mary Did You Know", my favorites are: Mark Lowry (the one who wrote the song, singing with David Phelps & Guy Penrod), and Home Free.
Appreciate you sharing your love of Home Free with your friends! That comment about hearing the lyrics for the first time made me laugh - it's always that way with me, HF have such clear enunciation that on every cover it's like I'm hearing the words for the first time :)
Especially so for me was their rendition of "Born In the U.S.A.". Although I loved the energy of Bruce Springsteen's original, I love the lyrical clarity of Home Free's version. I've gotta admit, I'd never really heard the lyrics in the original.
Ummm... you admit to watching a movie (a Christmas movie even) 37 times and yet you question why people would want to sing/hear the same Christmas songs over and over?? 😳 Pentatonix won the Sing-Off the year before Home Free. They did not compete. 😉 The reason PTX is more widely known is mostly because they're on a major record label and are heavily marketed. Home Free *was* but bought out their contract and opened their own record label in order to have more creative freedom. P.S. Home Free has quite a few original Christmas songs. 🎄 They've got a few albums worth of other originals, as well. 👍
Pentonix did not compete against Jome Free on the sing off. They won the yr before Home Free, when Home Free won the next yr., beating voiceplay & Philharmonic. I totally understand & agree with ya! So, Home Free has many original Christmas songs that you'll probably enjoy! Full of cheer, & cold hard cash are a riot! ❤❤
HOME FREE WON IN 2013 and PTX won in 2012 so the 2 groups DID NOT COMPETE against each other. Home Free leans country, but does all genres. HF's bass Tim teaches other a capella bass singers how to get their lower notes. Tim has a 5 octave range and you can see & hear it displayed in the song "Do You Hear What I Hear?" which is not a traditional arrangement. It is quite the complex arrangement by the beatboxer Adam and is a feast for the ears. The video setting is very cool (literally) as well. Please check that out-it will knock your socks off. Please wear earphones otherwise you will miss all the stuff going on in the background. Thanks for your reaction!
If you hate Christmas, you NEED to see the hilarious videos by Home Free; "Cold, Hard Cash for Christmas," "Full of Cheer," and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer." These guys are so fun. And yeah, Home Free beat PHILHARMONIC in the last season of The Sing Off. Pentatonix won the year before; HF wasn't competing, then.
Should have introduced him with When a Man Loves a Woman Cover by Home Free instead. But this does show the talent as well. Home Free is awesome though.
HF has a number of original Christmas songs. Full of Cheer, Snow Globe, Warmer Winter, Cold Hard Cash, and Christmas Ain't for the Lonely. If you want a different take on a 'classic' Christmas carol, look up "Home Free.Joy to the World.Hosanna Concert (Dec 2013)" - truly a different approach. HF also won the Sing Off it was the next year. And, I agree that HF is better than PTX - they don't have the 'feeling' in most of their songs that HF does. HF invited the Filharmonics to recreate (more or less) their match-up song on their newest album.
Home Free are THE best period!. No other group can hold a candle to their talent, skills, personality, hard work, versatility, spectrum of genres, humility and appreciation for their fans. They have ruined me for other music. I put on my BHF (before Home Free) play list and after a couple of songs, I go right back to my Home Free Play list. There are more songs on my Home Free playlist than all the other songs on my old play list put together. Nothing satisfies like Home Free. Home Free's passion for their music comes through with everything they do. When they perform live, they connect with their audiences, make eye contact and make you feel as if every person in the venue is important to them. (and it's genuine) They have in addition to the original Christmas songs mentioned below, Mary Did You Know? and a gorgeous version of Do You Hear What I Hear? arranged by Adam Rupp that is complex, unique and creative.
Be sure to check out Home Frees crazy Hilario "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" oh btw, check out their "Mary Did You Know" "Do You Hear What I Hear"
Home Free has several original Christmas songs that you would probably enjoy, including 2 that are so funny: "Cold Hard Cash for Christmas" and "Full of Cheer."
Home Free and Pentatonic are two equally talented and skillful a cappella groups, but their styles and directions are so different that comparing them, especially in competition, is meaningless. Which is better? Apples or oranges? This was probably not a good choice as a means of introducing someone to HF, especially if they don't care for traditional Christmas songs. Try HF's originals: Full of Cheer, Cold Hard Cash; or their latest punk cover, Christmas in LA. And of course, Pentatonic won Season 3, and Home Free won Season 4.
A good Christmas Home Free song that is not so traditional would be ''Do You Hear What I Hear" I was bowled over the first time I heard it. It gave me a whole new take on what I thought was a rather draggy Christmas song. Once again you would be wise to not expect these groups to be competing with each other on their versions of these songs. They all have their own unique style that makes comparisons between them like comparing Opera ans Blue Grass. I personally choose which group I listen to depending on my mood. They are all great, but how I feel is the way I choose between them.
Home Free won the Sing Off in 2013 and one of the competing groups Voice Play has some music you two might like: Seven Nation Army, Valhalla Calling, Nothing Else Matters and if you want Christmas they have some stuff the kidos would like: You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch and Christmas Don't Be Late among many others. (They even did O Holy Night) I really like both of these groups.
❤ Angels singing 😇❤️ HF 🤠. Good reaction. Full of Cheer, Cold hard cash and snow glove are Home Free originals. 🤠 Home Free won the Sing Off a season after Pentatonix however they did beat Voice play.
Masterpiece from the boys. Ptx did not compete against each other. Tim, Austin, Chance, Rob and Adam. HF has written several original Christmas songs. Again ptx did not compete against HF.
This is excellent. Well Pentatonix won their season but they didn’t beat these guys. Home Free was on the year after PTX and won their season. There are new Christmas songs all the time. Home Free does some of the classics and standards but they wrote some new songs called Cold Hard Cash and Full of Cheer that are new and funny. They also do new arrangements of old classics that are great. I would suggest Do You Hear What I Hear - the beatboxer - arranged it and it’s stellar! Also Ben Folds on the Sing Off was a producer and judge and he called the Home Free fans the Home Fries and the name stuck….just so you know where it came from. 😄
You will find out that with Home Free you will hear clearly the words to songs that you know but find out that you did not know the words. They are very clear and easy to listen to and all of their covers are the best.
O Holy Night was written in the 19th century. Besides the other Christmas songs mentioned in the comments so far, you should see their collab. with Kenny Rogers on "Go Children Where I Send Thee." It's an epic toe-tapper.
As somebod else will have probably told you, Pentatonix and Home Free were in different seasons and they both won. The Filharmonics were in Season 4 with Home Free. Home Free won their contract for a label and a while later they bought themselves out of it and went back to being independent. Also, a christmas song you have to react to is Home Frees version of Do you hear what I hear
I saw them this past Saturday in Minnesota. I suggest Do You Hear What I Hear. Home Free also does a wonderful version of Mary Did You Know! It’s fabulous!
The name of the show was The Sing Off. Pentatonix won season 3 and Home Free won season 4. The Filharmonics were also on the same season as Home Free. If you want you might get a kick out of watching Home Free vs The Filharmonics (with I'm All Right). Home Free actually have at least 2 Christmas albums. You may want to check out the original Warmest Winter, Do You Hear What I Hear, Christmas in LA. Thanks for the reactions.
An additional suggestion is that you REALLY NEED headphones to FULLY APPRECIATE the acapella experience! You will be able to enjoy their performances so much more!
Home fre has several original christmas songs -cold hard cash -christmas aint for the lonely -snowglobe (my fav) -full of cheer -now do u hear is not orininal but the arrangement is so cool and funky, not repetious that it seems original
PTX DID NOT BEAT HOME FREE! they both won in separate seasons. They're all friends and have collaborated with them. This guy will probably not like Home Free if he doesn't like slower music. Yes, HF is upbeat and funny too. I wouldn't recommend Man of Constant sorrow to him he might fall asleep
He wants an original Christmas song? Listen to "Full of Cheer" by Home Free, written by Tim Foust. "O Holy Night" is from a French poem by Placido Cappeau in 1847, set to music by Adolphe Adam. Eng. version by John Sullivan Dwight in 1855....it's an old, old song. This is the best version. .
I’m glad you got to see this at the Christmas time because it really is about the birth of Christ. This was written in France about 1855! There are more verses to this song that are rarely sung on the radio! Home Free does all genres of music! They have some original Christmas music when is called “cold hard cash for Christmas; “full of even more Cheer”, & their “ Snow globe”, FYI Home Free & Pentatonics both won The Sing Off competition… Just in different years! The Philharmonic’s we’re on the same your ass home free but did not win!…Home Free has songs from very serious to very silly! Watch the original of champagne taste on a beer budget… That’s an Abi Kaplan from Pentatonix makes a cameo appearance. I’ll be also sings Ring of fire with him for several years ago! Happy holidays guys! Keep on reacting to home free… They never let you down!!
Alabama has 2 Christmas albums Original songs. Wonderful. Please react to _Christmas in Dixie_ , _Tennessee Christmas_ , _Candle in the Window_ , _Christmas Memories_ . That's a good start from the first album. One of my favorites from the second album is _New Year's Eve 1999_ ❤
This is so gorgeous. Those harmonies. The bell tones. I am not a fan of Christmas music, either. But I will always listen to a Home Free version because they are so talented. I also am not a fan of Pentatonix. They are talented, but they seem a little too "show-offy" and "look what we can do" to me. Just my opinion. If you haven't heard Home Free's Do You Hear What I Hear, you should. Fabulous arrangement by Adam Rupp, the beatboxer. I think you will be surprised by Home Free's version of Mary Did You Know. (As usual, I prefer theirs to Pentatonix.) Have fun.
Your knowledge of CHRISTMAS is disturbing, the musical credentials are worse - The line up was different when Pentatonix won .... later Home Free won their effort in 2013 .... since CHRIS RUPP left THEY HAVE GOTTEN STRONGER in register diversity and are FAR BETTER THAN ANY OTHER GROUP - not merely A Capella - any* singers in any venue. If you know harmony, arrangements and range etc .... YOU KNOW THEY ARE NOT COUNTRY but, do have now THREE Southerners in the once Upper Mid west line up ! Just for the record . Home Fry, jj
As has been said PTX did not compete in the same Sing Off season as Home Free. Listen to more Home Free videos, you will be amazed at their versatility - from the Butts Remix to Man of Constant Sorrow - take a chance.
@SinCityReacts Have him come in and do a double react on Mary Did You Know, first PTX, then Home Free... They both sang this song, they are the same but very different...
Others have given you home free original titles. You should check out. Need to check out There's a warmest winter and also there's song Christmas aint for the lonely.
Well, the rest of us will continue to enjoy our Christmas traditions, including the music, and the rest of you can do as you like. Sin City, aaah??? Hmmn.
most artist release new Christmas songs on holiday albums but dont get airtime, like some of Home Free great original classics, Justin Bieber has a popular one as well and Kelly Clackson, Jonas Brothers, you have to liosten to more artist
You managed to lose the feeling of one of the greatest Christmas songs ( tribute to Christ in wonderful *arrangement -*Darren Rust, that is ! ) Just so you know ... THESE VIDEOS are PLAYBACK of studio recorded material and Lip sync for the benefit of the visual aspects. The Cathedral here is beautiful - not used for the recording. The resonance and spacial effects would be outrageous ! No one sings anywhere near these FIVE .... ( David Phelps would be in Austin's league .... all are blended in perfection.) The Home Free has over three hundred songs - Mary Did You Know IS OWNED BY HOME FREE. You'll see. GBjj
Check out Home Free's original, Full Of Cheer." Pentatonics did not beat Home free. They won the 3rd season and Home Free won the forth season and beat out Voice Play.
PTX won season 3 Home Free won Season 4. Home Free is the best A Capella group IMO Tim Foust has 5 + octave range They have 3 original Christmas songs Cold Hard Cash ( For Christmas) Snow Globe Full Of Cheer And Many Many non Christmas originals Remember My Name Playing With Fire Might As Well Be Me Stargazer Trilogy ( All Originals written by Austin) Give Me A Sign ( Chapter 1) Stargazer Lilies ( Chapter 2) MR (Chapter 3) Skull And Bones ( original written by Chance for Ubisoft new video game Skull And Bones Given Up On You ft Texas Hill Road Sweet Road Understand What's Left Of My Heart Save The World Dreamer Land Of The Free Warmest Winter Snow Globe Why Not Cold Hard Cash ( For Christmas) Christmas Ain’t For The Lonely Love Me Like That What The World Coming To Lonely Girls World Leave This Town Remember This Dive Bar Saints Catch Me If You Can When You Walk In Good Ol Boy Good Time It Looks Good Good Ol Country Harmony Summer In The Country Champagne Taste ( On A Beer Budget) Full Of Cheer Crazy Life Everything Will Be Ok California Country Cross That Bridge Quarantine What We Need Is Love So Long Dixie
WRONG SONG to introduce someone to Home Free. They have original Christmas songs as well as great covers such as Christmas In LA, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem Ft. The Oak Ridge Boys and Jeffrey East, Children Go Where I send Thee fraturing Kenny Rogers.
Actually Home Free has several Original Christmas Songs. Full of Cheer, Cold Hard Cash, Snow Globe
And Warmest Winter!
Christmas in LA
Home Free's "White Christmas" almost sounds like a new song.
I agree 100% with you!!!😊
You're wrong.
Home Free virtually re-invented “Do You Here What I Hear”.
Pentatonix won Season 3, Home Free didn't compete in that season. They won Season 4.
God bless.
Agree with using headphones.
Yes, please use headphones. It makes a HUGE difference!
Comparing Home Free to PTX is like comoaring apples to oranges! Both groups are great in their own way....but each have a totally different style! PENTATONIX WON THE YEAR BEFORE HOME FREE ENTERED, SO THEY DIDN'T COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER. HOME FREE WON THE 4TH SEASON OF THE SING OFF
#HOMEFREE ORIGINALS: COLD HARD CASH, SNOW GLOBE, FULL OF CHEER

My favorite "O Holy Night" performers are David Phelps, Home Free, and John Davidson. For "Mary Did You Know", my favorites are: Mark Lowry (the one who wrote the song, singing with David Phelps & Guy Penrod), and Home Free.
Appreciate you sharing your love of Home Free with your friends! That comment about hearing the lyrics for the first time made me laugh - it's always that way with me, HF have such clear enunciation that on every cover it's like I'm hearing the words for the first time :)

Home Free's Mary Did You Know it's awesome! Also, Do You Hear What I Hear is awesome!

Should have introduced him with When a Man Loves a Woman Cover by Home Free instead. But this does show the talent as well. Home Free is awesome though.
YOU SHOULD SHOW HIM 'DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR' BY #HOMEFREE
The Home Free bass (Tim Foust) actually wrote this arrangement when he was 19.

Actually, Home Free won Sing Off. Beat the Philharmonics.
And voice play
Ptx DID NOT COMPETE AGAINST HOME FREE. Home Free was the following year after Ptx.
O holy night is way older than 30 years old, it was written based on a french poem from 1843 and first sang in 1847.
Home Free has several original Christmas songs that you would probably enjoy, including 2 that are so funny: "Cold Hard Cash for Christmas" and "Full of Cheer."
Home Free has a "Snow Globe." Also very good. You guys need headphones. You are so missing out on the richness and tones.Trust me.
Home Free and Pentatonic are two equally talented and skillful a cappella groups, but their styles and directions are so different that comparing them, especially in competition, is meaningless. Christmas In LA is not a original by a group called Vulfpeck that is a funk band not punk
A good Christmas Home Free song that is not so traditional would be ''Do You Hear What I Hear" I was bowled over the first time I heard it. Yea, what others have said. They do have original Christmas songs. Full of Cheer is hilarious and I think you will like it.

I’m here for it. Ain’t nobody beating #Homefree
All I want for Christmas is an old song. Home Free has many original xmas songs. Full of Cheer is one of them
This is excellent. 😄
I look forward to this contest. Home Free will kill it!
You will find out that with Home Free you will hear clearly the words to songs that you know but find out that you did not know the words. They are very clear and easy to listen to and all of their covers are the best.
To answer ur questions, we want to have fan based names. Ty
They never miss on any song.
Now, have him listen to the Butts Remix!
Glad see your son enjoyed it even though it was an older xmas song that has been done a lot. It is also my favorite version. 🤙
CHRISTMAS IN LA is new to me (and I'm almost 72). HOME FREE does a cover of it that I'm certain you two will like! It's FRESH and very UPBEAT.
An additional suggestion is that you REALLY NEED headphones to FULLY APPRECIATE the acapella experience! You will be able to enjoy their performances so much more!
Please use headphones when listening to Home Free 🏴
You two should listen to their cover of "Do You Hear What I Hear".....I promise you've never heard it done the way they do.
males are : (from low to high) Bass, Baritone, Low Tenor & then High Tenor.....alto, contralto & soprano are female voices
In fact, alto and contralto are the almost the same thing. The female voices are contralto (alto), mezzo soprano and soprano.
This shows their harmony, but I think he'd be impressed by the beatboxer, there was no beatboxing in this and also some of Tim's low basement notes.
Home fre has several original christmas songs
-cold hard cash
-christmas aint for the lonely
-snowglobe (my fav)
-full of cheer
-now do u hear is not orininal but the arrangement is so cool and funky, not repetious that it seems original
Home Free has at least 3 original Christmas songs.
This is the best version. .
Penatonix won season 2 of the Sing-Off and Home Free won season 4
Ok. So watch and listen to "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer"
Love #HomeFree
Please show him some #HomeFree originals
Home Free won season 4 the Sing-Off. You should react with Josh to End of The Road by Boyz II Men. It will blow his mind! Love your reactions!
You need to check out Home Free’s Newest Christmas song “Christmas in LA”
Home Free did a collab with Avi Kaplan after Avi left the Pentatonix. Tim can sing in 5 plus octaves

Alabama has 2 Christmas albums
Original songs. Wonderful. Please react to _Christmas in Dixie_ , _Tennessee Christmas_ , _Candle in the Window_ , _Christmas Memories_ .
That's a good start from the first album. One of my favorites from the second album is _New Year's Eve 1999_ ❤
To reinforce PTX won the competition one year and Home Free won the competition with 1st place the following year.
Liked and subscribed.
No ,pentatonic had and bowed to the judges demands. Homefree won 2013 sing off. Homefree is an independent label.
BASS / BARITONE / Low, Mid , High Tenors / for men. Alto & Soprano refer to women vocal ranges.
Homefree did Mary did you know❤
REACT TO HOME FREE’S ORIGINAL SONG CHRISTMAS IN L.A.
IT’S REALLY UPBEAT AND VERY GOOD!
But it is not an original by Home Free. They made a great cover video though.
Pentatonic did not compete against Home Free in fact they are friends even Voice Play who did compete are all friends.
Please react to Home Free's _Do You Hear What I Hear?_
Arrangement by Adam Rupp the percussionist 🙂
Dude WHAT? Pentatonix is definitely not overrated!
Sub'd for Home Free
PTX did not beat Home Free. They were on separate seasons. home free won their season.
PTX won season 3 Home Free won Season 4. Home Free is the best A Capella group IMO
