Phil Rudd is quite possibly the greatest drummer to hit the stage... and before all the metalheads go out there saying how boring he is... less is always more! A natural timekeeper and every sound is so precise... master class.
You can feel Phil's groove... he is the best drummer in the world! It sounds like a big metal scoop being hit against a leather couch.... that is the true ACDC beat!
Dang! What a difference with his groove! Phil could practically hypnotize someone with that skilled drumming if he wanted to lol, what a great masterpuece now perfomed by Rudd 🤘😎
All respect to Chris and Simon intended, but Phil is the only true AC/DC drummer. Without him, they're a very good band. With him, they're the greatest rock band of all time.
Phil and Malcolm were the sound of the real AC/DC Rhythm. Phil don't have a very impressive technic but he got the groove and swing that made AC/DC, never see a drummer sound like him. Unfortunately we don't have other recording with phil on who made who, his playing is so powerful, excellent
i could agree with you but we have to admit that Chris and Simon are more creative and on some tracks like Who made Who or Thunderstruck, if Rudd had composed the drums part, those tracks would have been less impactfull. Rudd would never had used bass toms.
As soon as you hear that hi-hat, you know thatʻs Phil Rudd! I love how the drums can really make a difference in a song, especially how "Who Made Who" sounded with Simon!
I Love that Song!!! That was the first i ever heard of AC/DC when the Stephen King Movie Maximum Overdrive came out back in the day. I was a kid and blown away. I got the same feeling by listening to that song. I got old. But that song not. AC/DC was the reason why i learned playin`guitar. Great!!!! Best Band ever!!!
Phil had a way with the drumming that spoke a language that unless you knew that 'voice' the song never sounded right. It was almost like he was singing through his sticks
I was at that show as well Charlotte, North Carolina! It was my first AC/DC show ever! Ill never forget it! Ive seen them twice since then. Better and better every time!
You can tell all 3 main drummers apart because they all have different styles. You can tell: Phil because of the regular use of symbols and hi hats. Simon because of his regular use of the bass drum Chris because of the almost frenzied style of playing! (Also the hair do :D)
not rly the main difference is the hi-hat. Simon and chris, dont groove, every hi-hat hit sounds the same, The difference between chris and simon is that Simon bounces more with it if that makes sense Phil accents all 4 notes differently to give it more groove and it rlly just gives it that ACDC sound Simon & Chris - Dadadada Phil - DuduDada (Hihat sounds lol
Pretty remarkable to hear how much this song improved just having Phil Rudd on the kit... HUGE difference. One that makes this spng sound like it's from the 1980 - 1981 AC⚡DC era
i noticed in the first verse angus plays reversed riffs he does the deeper riff then the medium then the high one then back down usualy its the other way around.
That inimitable Rudd groove...its ALL in the hi hat. Chris Slade, while he has great chops, played way too stiff for AC/DC...his hi hat was always too choked off, while Phil has that great up-down washy hi hat feel.
This song was actually written and rehearsed before Rudd left in '83 but never used. When it was used in 1986 they redid it entirely with Simon Wright. I read this somewhere but can't remember where, just that it was around but never finished.
Yeah, these guys should defo re record those albums it would sound awesome lol! But would they manage to get into the charts, what with all the crap that's in them all ready?
Malisimo, le gana la fatiga a Phill...Hay partes que hay que tocar la campanita y al final van unos redobles de tambores y Phil no hizo nada de eso, demasiado monotono, por no decir amarrete o basico 😪
Phil Rudd is quite possibly the greatest drummer to hit the stage... and before all the metalheads go out there saying how boring he is... less is always more! A natural timekeeper and every sound is so precise... master class.
finally this song sounds like AC/DC Thanks Phil!
Yup
You can feel Phil's groove... he is the best drummer in the world! It sounds like a big metal scoop being hit against a leather couch.... that is the true ACDC beat!
Roger Taylor is better
Dang! What a difference with his groove! Phil could practically hypnotize someone with that skilled drumming if he wanted to lol, what a great masterpuece now perfomed by Rudd 🤘😎
PHIL IS THE BEST AC/DC DRUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All respect to Chris and Simon intended, but Phil is the only true AC/DC drummer. Without him, they're a very good band. With him, they're the greatest rock band of all time.
smokeslet'sgo I agree. Technically Chris and Simon are superior to Phil but Phil has that swing that just sounds right.
@@malcolmseb and Cliff

Queen is better
I have almost tears in my eyes. Listen to The Mal, The Rudd and The Cliff working together ! That Ladies and Gentlemen was the true sound of AC/DC !!
Amen!
What a monster phils the man no one gets close
As soon as you hear that hi-hat, you know thatʻs Phil Rudd! I love how the drums can really make a difference in a song, especially how "Who Made Who" sounded with Simon!
Wish they played more jewels like this..Phil's drumming would make it sound alot better.
Like who made who
I have to say this song is made for rudd no matter how you may like/dislike him
I Love that Song!!! That was the first i ever heard of AC/DC when the Stephen King Movie Maximum Overdrive came out back in the day. I was a kid and blown away. I got the same feeling by listening to that song. I got old. But that song not. AC/DC was the reason why i learned playin`guitar. Great!!!! Best Band ever!!!
its so sad that songs like this arent played live now, these are jewels
Phil had a way with the drumming that spoke a language that unless you knew that 'voice' the song never sounded right. It was almost like he was singing through his sticks
maxti6 Yes , Phil is the best drummer for AC/DC...forget Simon Wright and Chris Slade. Phil drumming style is the AC/DC style
Gosh, that grooves!
Phil is the man!
Phil is a machine
Phil Rudd is the machine. Period.
Simple and powerful!! The coolest of the cool!
Damn I wish there was some footage to go with this, sounds amazing!
I love this live version,Phill is my favorite AC/DC drummer! But all the respects for Simon and Chris!
Phil Rudd is a human metronome!
How does he get that balanced, deep drum sound?? Even with this dodgy recording you can here the whole kit poundin through! He's just brilliant lol
He beats the hell out of it. You hear it shaken because it is.
Phil can play anything, e is a machine. Dean AUstralia
this is one of their best songs!
I was at that show as well Charlotte, North Carolina! It was my first AC/DC show ever! Ill never forget it! Ive seen them twice since then. Better and better every time!
I would have given anything to see Phil play the 1986 version on a filmed concert
Phil has always been solid, spot on, and the back bone of AC⚡️DC; the structure that the whole thing is built around.
You can tell all 3 main drummers apart because they all have different styles. You can tell:
Phil because of the regular use of symbols and hi hats.
Simon because of his regular use of the bass drum
Chris because of the almost frenzied style of playing! (Also the hair do :D)
not rly
the main difference is the hi-hat.
Simon and chris, dont groove, every hi-hat hit sounds the same,
The difference between chris and simon is that Simon bounces more with it if that makes sense
Phil accents all 4 notes differently to give it more groove and it rlly just gives it that ACDC sound
Simon & Chris - Dadadada
Phil - DuduDada
(Hihat sounds lol
You could tell it's phil playing drums on this
Pretty remarkable to hear how much this song improved just having Phil Rudd on the kit... HUGE difference. One that makes this spng sound like it's from the 1980 - 1981 AC⚡DC era
Saw AC/DC on this tour.
should acdc sing songs like flick of the switch and ballbreaker later this year
oh ye.. thats a groove.. listen to that snare growl...
Cool.
26 years ago today
i noticed in the first verse angus plays reversed riffs he does the deeper riff then the medium then the high one then back down usualy its the other way around.
I like it better tbh
@thunderhayes dude that would be so sick, i wish they could rerecord that album and the razors edge with rudd on the drums
this is at 0:47 he plays the low riff first then the high one. just something different i noticed.
Have to say I like it better
@nitroangus23 i read it on wikipedia and some other site a wile back
Brian sang it good, wonder why they nixed it from the tour?
Supposedly Brian could not get enough breathing in through out the song
I dearly wish they’d played this just one more time for the No Bull show 🏟️🚫🐂
Can take any song from Simon wright or Chris slade era an Rudd kills it! No better drummer!!
@Big85Jack yeah it does
Wow, is that use of the ride cymbal I hear? Rudd hasn't used a ride cymbal since the few tracks on Dirty Deeds that included it.
no :P phil doesn't even have a ride cymbal on his kit :)
Then he's riding on a crash cymbal, because clearly in the chorus of this song, a cymbal is being ridden.
freepressright trust me, it's just hi-hat ;)
Andy Diaz Isn't it? It's just a hi-hat right, never anything else?
it's phil, it's half-open hi-hat, nothing else :)
That inimitable Rudd groove...its ALL in the hi hat. Chris Slade, while he has great chops, played way too stiff for AC/DC...his hi hat was always too choked off, while Phil has that great up-down washy hi hat feel.
Phill has a accent ghost note with the tip of his drumstick on the high hat witch give its that nice tamber
du du da da
on the hihat thats phil's signature shit there
You can tell its Phil straight away because the hi hat is more open instead of Simon and Chris would of played it closed
The spice is back in the AC/DC pizza…
Simon did a better drum roll at the end of the song.
This song was actually written and rehearsed before Rudd left in '83 but never used. When it was used in 1986 they redid it entirely with Simon Wright.
I read this somewhere but can't remember where, just that it was around but never finished.
Was any audio of it recorded?
No Phil Rudd no AC/DC!!!
Dejan V. Totally agree, Phil locks them into a perfect grove
True story :)
No se pero cuando phil toca la bateria con ac/dc es otra cosa y se le llama "P E R F E C T S I O N"
BALOURD. it's Simon
Hmmm,never heard that one before.
It's entirely possible,I'd like to know where you read it.
it only might be rare in its a one off
@MrSG61 it is
@Big85Jack it relly does! he's the GROOVE
Yeah, these guys should defo re record those albums it would sound awesome lol!
But would they manage to get into the charts, what with all the crap that's in them all ready?
I prefer the versión whit Chris Slade that's si epic
Phil is excellent! But the ride cymbal in the chorus is missed🥲
Why do people criticise Chris Slade? He was an excellent musician and drummer for AC/DC, miles better than Simon Wright.
You mean the live versions right? Because the album was recorded with Simon.
my fav drummer phil rudd ,,but i will say this chris slade is damm good as well ,,,,i think slade its the drums harder,,but i like phil
not at all chris barely even hits them
phil eats peanut butter in the bathroom
Malisimo, le gana la fatiga a Phill...Hay partes que hay que tocar la campanita y al final van unos redobles de tambores y Phil no hizo nada de eso, demasiado monotono, por no decir amarrete o basico 😪
CHRIS SLADE does the best live version of this...
anthony lay Phil Is The Drummer!
this is not the version i'm talking about....phil sucks
anthony lay You Are Stupid
if you dislike Phil, you dislike classic ACDC. I personally like all drummers ACDC has had over the years. Phis is definetly my favorite though.
I'M FOR SLADE
this ain't rare its been so circulated so much
give me chris slade anyday
simon Wright is better sorry phil
