Regarding Starliner, considering the dysfunction at Boeing, let the astronauts decide how they want to return. My choice would be the easiest decision ever in my life!
You think pad B is going to be the main tower? If he’s putting a flame trench under there?
Ekster, a company that likes to alienate half the population by limiting their find me tech to apple.
Growing up in the 80's it was Saturday morning cartoons, now in my mid 40's it's Marcus House on Saturday morning! Thanks Marcus
50 here. Holy shit! 😅
😍
I grew up in the 70's and Saturday morning cartoons were no shit a cultural phenomenon. Marcus is an excellent replacement
This is even better!
I remember watching my Parent's old cabinet style Magnavox black and white television as Neil Armstrong
stepped foot on the moon. I truly hope I live long enough to see Man step foot on Mars.
That's the cleanest looking rocket engine I've ever seen.
I remember Elon saying Raptor V2's look like an unfinished rocket engine but I didn't think so. It looked like a finished rocket engine.
But V3 looks unfinished. It looks like it was taken off the assembly line ready for final installations
It is amazing. There are more pieces and sensors I suspect, but nothing like V2. Incredible innovation.
Rutherford is also very clean, but this is a totally different scale
@@aDifferentJT Indeed. And Raptor is far more complex.
@@aDifferentJT Rutherford doesn't have a gas turbine. It uses an electric motor to spin the propellant pumps. It's a very simple engine. Raptor is just on another level of complexity
That Raptor V3 really does look like a render, very impressive engineering to make something so complex and bespoke look like a high volume product.
I really needed to study it. I kind of feel like some of the background is photoshopped in some way because it looks ridiculously clean. If so, I'm sure hoping there is no photoshopping on the engine itself.
@@MarcusHouse Interesting
If you look at the two, it’s also very clean … so I don’t think that’s a fake…I think they’re getting better at making rocket engines for mass production as Musk had said
*Look* like a high-volume product? 😜
@@dancingdog2790 It's not there yet. Elon said the hardest part is setting up the processes to make it a high volume production line.
One of the few channels consistently without clickbait titles and lame AI voiceover. Thank you Marcus, for keeping it real!
One if the few videos that felt a little misleading with the Raptor 3 “unveil” in the title. Was hoping for a little more than just a 5 second mention.
Yes, those others get very boring.
Raptor V3 is a work of art AND science. Congratulations to the design team for simplifying the design to that degree. Very impressive
I was glad to see the simple plumbing! The predecessors had gossamer unsupported lengthy runs of tubing that were obviously fragile and complex!! Agree completely with you label of "simplifying the design"
As a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's it was such a rare event to see more than 1 launch in a year. Now we get to see multiple launches every WEEK. Truly an amazing time for space flight.
I don't know how you and your team churn out such high quality content every week. But, I am truly grateful that you do. Thanks Marcus!
Thank you Paul! So grateful we get to do this for everyone while it being a job that we love.
Yes my fav time of the week has come again WOOOHOO
Welcome back!
Watching your videos has renewed my interest in space flight. Also, that Rocketlab and Blue Origin mission is so amazing! Can't wait
Space news has slowly become my favorite thing on the Interwebs!! 🔥✨🔥
The ausie ✨Hey Hey✨ is the highlight of every week 😣
"Aussie", if you don't mind!
2:45 This clip does a great job of demonstrating the size of Starship. The cars and telephone poles are perfect for scale. Looks like they're moving a 10 story building down the street.
Most 20 story residential buildings I have seen are around 60m in height IIRC. Starship is 50m?
Hey, Roscosmos!!!! How you liking our "broomsticks" now?😮
That raptor v3 is a piece of abstract art!
Is it abstract if it is a practical item?
Happy weekend all
Insane how fast SpaceX moves with their iterations on these engines. Can't wait for Flight #5!
That engine took me by surprise earlier today, that is for sure.
Go Bills!
That engine looks epic (you forgot to compare it to the spaghetti that was v1) ❤

Nice to Finally see them get back to a Real Flame Trench and immediately see the Results of not blasting everything in all directions for once!
Yes. 100%. IT has been a damn long time coming.
I don’t understand why it took them so long to come to this determination, especially when you consider the successful history of rocketeers using flame diversion trenches. It only makes sense, how did they think they could deal with the management of all of that energy being expended straight downwards?
@@loudechant7034 Well, people kept saying the water table was too high...
It's more likely SpaceX were in such a rush they skipped a number of steps, and also why they didn't consult with experts in the field.
They are still doing this, such as with the concept of re-lighting Raptors on the moon's surface instead of going with less risky hypergolics.
@@loudechant7034because they think different, bud in this case, the tradicional solution was better
Whenever Elon does something that seems illogical, I think "Does he need this for Mars?"
In this case, he needs to know what effect these rockets are going to have when landing on regolith of any sort. The data is extremely useful for landing and taking off from Mars without any infrastructure.
Same with Hyperloop and boring tunnels for traffic; These ideas are silly for Earth and likely won't lead to anything useful here, but on Mars they are potentially very useful.
Great episode. Really excited to see the Starship developments. On Starliner, I would let Starliner return without crewe as a test and recover the Astronauts on the next Dragon run. Boeing have demonstrated that they’re consistently failing to hit performance targets so there is no basis for trusting their internal simulation data, big cultural change is needed at Boeing
Not to mention Boeing's issues with their airplanes.
Agreed.
Not sure I'd be willing to return in Starliner. Boeing has troubles for sure, but combine that with some GS-15 level turd interjecting his WANTS into the development, the scope creep just amplifies their problems. SpaceX is a perfect example of what can happen when you keep the USG out of your beezwax. Vote smart folks.
It has been said that boing for years was run by engineers in top management positions!
When it went to MBA’s it took a nose dive! My biggest concern is all the contracts they have for defense🧐
Returning Starliner empty and leaving Wilmore and Williams on the ISS would be a violation of operational standards, since these two astronauts would have no lifeboat capability to return to Earth in an emergency. They can't return in the Dragon currently docked to Station, since there are no seats in the capsule for them, their Starliner seats are not compatible with Dragon, and their Starliner IVA suits are not compatible with Dragon. Unfortunately, NASA have put themselves in a very difficult position, by relying on Boeing and sending Starliner to ISS once it was clear there were thruster issues once it had reached orbit after launch. *That* was the time when NASA should have made the executive decision to make an immediate emergency return, rather than pressing on to dock with the ISS. Now, they *have* to undock Starliner to allow the Crew 9 Dragon docking. So, either they risk Wilmore and Williams to reentry in a potentially unsafe vehicle, or they truly leave them stranded on ISS until such time as they can be catered for in a Dragon -- which will require Dragon seats and Dragon IVA suits for both of them. NASA truly has forgotten (again!) the corporate lessons they learned the hard way with the Challenger and Columbia disasters.
The New Glenn landing leg test was actually really cool. I love how the legs are totally camouflaged within the fuselage, and fold out like a transformer.
Falcon has plenty of power to cope with external leg drag.
For sure! Love how it looks.
Getting one step closer to the maiden launch, which will probably be one of the most exciting launches of the year. I can't wait!
The simplicity of their design shows its sophistication. Very impressed.
Hey hey it's my favourite time of the Week..! Marcus and Team do a fantastic job..! Thanks for keeping us Space Fans up to date...! Cheers...!
My favorite video of the week. Thanks for another banger
SpaceX: The only company where the community is faster at updates than SpaceX themselves.

Straight to the pool room :) Classic.
Another fabulous update from Marcus. It really has become THE channel I look forward to every week and it I love sitting down to my lunch whilst watching on my iPad. So much detail and great graphics and enthusiastic narration. As for the Raptor 3, what can I say that other commenters haven’t already said. It’s stupendous. I’ve said before that as a precision engineer (nowhere near on the same level of Spacex engineers), I am so envious. Imagine going to work there every day. The pace might be stressful but the rewards for any engineer who can stand the heat must be fantastic. Fancy being able to look at a Raptor 3 and being able to say “I helped to build that”. Amazing!👍👍
As a kid growing up in the early 60s I saw the unimaginable. It’s about freaking time we do more unimaginable things.
Late 60's even more so!😊
Loads of things going on. The space race is the race to watch...thank you Marcus!
I love how Marcus's body animates when he talks, like C-3PO
That raptor v3 is the apex predator. Good luck to everyone else!
Great job much more info than any other podcasts!👍
Hey hey, its America's favorite space Aussie!!!
Another great report as always, Marcus. Thank you!
Thank you for extracting out all the juicy goodness from the report! 🤠
Honestly you were probably what motivated me to apply for and get an internship at nasa for this summer. Thanks man, I haven’t missed a Saturday since March. You’re the bomb and make everything so accessible and concise. Thanks man, definitely opened a door for me
Keep pumping out great content Marc 👌
Bought Ekster wallet from ad in this show. Love it. So glad to have seen it here. Great sponsor. Also Excellent Video!! Thanks!
That raptor 3 looks sick!
A work of art, that new engine is beautiful.
Thanks! Appreciate the range of your coverage, all the best
Kinda wild to see the vacuum engines firing like that
Section VI was stacked this morning about 3:00am a beautiful sight to watch as the sun rose and lit up the clouds in the sky.
Keep it up Marcus. I can't watch everything live but you are a big player in the Space Media Industry. Baggins
Falcon 9 is a real work horse
The 1 Raptor to rule them all.
This is what is possible if you start from a clean sheet instead of just adding every improvement or fix onto the old design until you have 200 different pipes going all around the thing lol. Impressive. Surely a bunch of new technology as well which allows for this, but I think just starting fresh and thinking things through from the ground up is what makes raptor 3 look so clean.
great coverage marcus. as ever
9:50 Wait are you telling me they are trying to catch the booster *right above* the OLM !? That's madness
and they did
WHAT A BEAST, I love how they made it matte black!
Great job marcus and team always look forward to your videos every saturday night
Thanks Marcus, I always enjoy your videos mate.
Flight #5 will be fire
One way or another
Growing up I saw the shuttles as futuristic. They got me hooked on space. I just had a moment of "WOW" realizing at 3:18 there are 3 visible Starships ready for testing and parts of another laying around. The shuttles were fragile complex. Starship can be mass produced in such short time. Its crazy and mind blowing.
OMG I live in Perth Western Australian and am super-excited that we may be able to assist Space X in this wonderful endeavour. What wonderful times.
I sure hope so. Currently it is being planned, but I really want to know what that plan is. Hopefully it gets through any of the regulatory hurdles.
True!
Used to live in Orlando, right in the normal path of a landing space shuttle. Many times heard that double *boom* *boom* which announced the return of the latest space shuttle from a mission. It was cool. Nothing else sounds like that.
That rocket engine is sheer beauty. Looks production grade.
Thank you for all the hard work in making these excellent videos.
The black and white part is just top notch humor😂
Thank you Marcus. These videos are always very helpful!
MH time of the week is the best time of the week.
Thank you MH
Great work as always mate, a bloody good watch.
Cheers
This is the Raptor we've been waiting for. Far cheaper, simpler, and finally at full power.
"Only flight number 12 for this booster" !!! How far SpaceX has come.
Looking forward to seeing the next launch
Excited times ahead. .
Thank you MH + Team for an excellent upload
Awesome and comprehensive video as ever Marcus. Keep on keeping on.....
Using the chop sticks for recovery might be hard.

😎Murcus always a pleasure. Yes I watch all the way through to the last word every time. If mechazilla recover the super heavy its going to be wild!!
Australia has always been a major partner with the US Space program, and of course a major ally in world affairs. Because of it's location, Australia of course should be a major Space port and hub in the future.
Raptor 3 - beauty!
That Raptor 3 pic dos look so simple and clean, I did think it was a 3D render 😂
Can't believe rocket engine now looks simple compared to whatever mess is under the hood of my car
Go electric. No hood required!
Always so good and Real Marcus thank you. How about that fine new V3 Rocket Engine! Brilliant.
Raptor v3 has to be one of the most sophisticated objects every created.
Ngl, I feel that a night launch of Starship would be amazing to witness
I live in West Australia! Can't wait to see a landing!
Thanks Marcus. The stuff between the Toenail fungus Ads was very informative.
Great job! Once again I'm caught up on all the important space news by watching one good channel. Thanks for your hard work!
Good stuff, as usual...Marcus's enthusiasm is contagious...;)
Good stuff as usual. Thanks for the updates.
For the curious .. R3 .. loaded on RV at mcgregor's.. possible testing starting Monday/Tuesday...August 5th 6th.. ish .. be sure to lurk around and enjoy the blast 😊
Great stuff Marcus!
I never expected to hear that the main reason they can't lauch more falcon 9's in a day is because they don't have enough drone ships to land on 😂
well they could confiert a no longer used 100,000 ton cargo figheat contnaer ship that bee moth balled into a very massive drone ship and that land and cary a huge aonut of faclone 9 stages if they need more faclion rocket drone landeing and carryer ship for landing and carrying a huge amonut of falcon 9 rocket stages if they need it.
The only problem with that is that ONE failure could destroy the whole batch.
Excellent video Marcus, thanks from the uk
Nothing beats a Marcus House vid while I’m recovering from surgery! Great vid as always sir. That raptor 3 looks soooooooo good. The most advanced engine on the market!!
Building that new tower fast because the old one might end up in a ball of fire 🔥 can't wait !
Raptor 3 looks like a Pixar version of the Raptor engine
I'm both getting nervous and excited for the chopsticks to catch super heavy
Love "The Castle" reference 😂
Good luck Dreamchaser I'm a huge fan hope to take a ride to the stars one day
Raptor 3: Colin Chapman would be proud, _"Simplify, then add lightness."_
I like your enthusiasm.
The new raptor is awsome.
Raptor V3 is a treat! Waiting patiently for the 35-engine configuration with 100 MN first stage thrust of the future monster Starship V3.
🍻 Cheers Marcus
Marcus, I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering (partly thanks to your channel) and I just sat down to do some study after work. You have now delayed my study period after I saw your weekly video dropped so thanks for that........
Much love from South Aus, keep up the amazing content :)
Great content as always Marcus. Much appreciated for your hard work.
