I have this book and love it. It is nice to have translations of such ancient spells even if some of the ingredients can seem a little strange to the contemporary way of things. It could be useful for a person wishing to create their own spells, using available ingredients, but using some of the spell formats in this book. It's just so much fun to read this. Thanks for sharing.
I really agree. I don't think that just simply trying to use all that is in these translations would be usefull as such. Mostly I love having a glimpse to how things might have been and also pick up some ideas to bring to this day and age.
One of the ways to get the most out of the PGM is to get a copy of "Techniques of Graeco-Egyptian Magic" by Dr. Stephen Skinner. He groups the items by category, and spell patterns become clearer. I would also warn you that it is a heavy read.
Interested to hear the results of your spell. Perhaps these ancient names bring swift answers. Love the idea of magically blended ink. Thank you for sharing!
Hmm, so good! 😋 I love these translated books. It makes me feel like I've got a piece of that history too. And I think roses would be that 'flower of love'! 🌹🤷♀️
I've been so so so tempted by this tome for the longest time. It's just not super affordable and I wasn't sure if Betz's translation is practiceable. I'm also worried about mangling the barbarous names but I guess I should just trust that they'll listen regardless. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t seen the other translations so I can’t compare 🤷🏼♀️ Not sure anyway how practical it all is in the end anyway atleast if one might want to copy the exact spell... But I think you could also find it secondhand. Mine was a bit under 40€ as new.
Thank you for sharing, Hanni! I have A LOT that I'm focussing on my own practice so I'm holding off on any extracurricular exploration at this time. The book is fascinating, nonetheless! 👍 Interestingly, I just saw your subscriber count is currently stuck on the "number of the beast" (666). I think the spell is working! 😉.
😅 I know the feeling. I tend to follow too many rabbits. Wish I could focus more. It might be my new book on Aleister Crowley that fulfilled that nice subscriber number 🤣
Fun to watch your video. Is your Myrrh colored white (or is it just the way the top of the box looks?)? BTW, loving your Finnish accent, soooo awesome! :)
From a negative angle: a lot of the spells involve animal cruelty. Also spells to harm an enemy or love spells which disolve the free will of the target are unethical enough to show why magick was supressed in antiquity.
i haven’t read this specific book so i don’t know if there’s animal cruelty in it but i do know that “a lot of spells” actually don’t have animal cruelty. from the different types and cultures i’ve seen it’s more common among the ancients but in the bible it talks about slaying animals for protection in the name of God and it’s no better then us moderns hunting for sport and eating mcdonald’s every day with meat from factory farms. every spell tangled with free will somehow in some way there’s no right or wrong magic unless ur wiccan or have ur own opinions
i love this book for the same reasons as you. i reference it and am inspired by it's window into the past. thank you for making this video. here is a new, recently posted video about the PGM by another PhD, Dr. Kirsten Dzwiza : ua-cam.com/video/lV_f7C7dnjk/v-deo.html -it's a fascinating breakdown of some passages/spells. just like Dr. Sledge of Esoterica, Dr Dzwiza is an incredibly knowledgable and dedicated academic, doing actual research and studies on ancient magickal languages and symbols. infact, she was interviewed on esoterica a month ago, and it's over 3-hours long! -peace to you, and thank you again.

Wow, what an interesting find! Definitely enough study material for a while 😂 Such a great one for the collection, thank you for sharing it 💚💚

You know I’ve wanted to read this but haven’t. I’ve heard some HARSH criticisms of skinner’s takes on the PGM, but I trust his work.
Cute altar cloth 🥰🌟💚
I'm looking forward to getting this for Christmas I already do ancient Egyptian magic so this would be great for me. Thanks for the review.
Hope you find it usefull.
Does rhe spells really work

Well maybe one day I will do a spell from this book. This demo maybe only made Thoth laugh 😅 but maybe that’s also good.
@@fierceandpretty1365 haha! It did confirm the importance of using formal names, and a candle (lamp) though.
I enjoyed it. You have a great voice. 😸👍

Same here. I often wish that I would know more about history than future 🤷🏼♀️ Time traveller would be the perfect job for me ⏳
I have this book too - very interesting study! 😉
Wow! Very interesting! Thank you for sharing! 🖤🙏🏼
Yeah...lots of odd stuff in it 🤩

Hi! It's been about a year since you posted this video. Do you have any more experience or insights into the PGM?
Curious historical document for sure!
It is. It’s mindblowingin how much knowledge is lost on so so so many interesting topics.
What the magicians of ancient egypt were doing?! Yes! Where can we get this book?
Many weird stuff it seams 😅 I just got it from Amazon 🤷🏼♀️

Hi!!
Do you have cast a circle while doing any of these spells ?
Nope, casting a circle wasn't done back then
@@jaydenat.hannah4760 thank you so much

Yes.
