      yeah and just the fact that we don't have to glance over 10 lines of text on every item that drops with lots of weird shit like damage on tuesdays is the best thing for me.
      now we get like
      500 strength
      25 % more crit damage
      300 health
      and then we can add even more stats to it, but we don't get eye cancer from the first glance

    The affixes rework actually is cool, loads of potential to really have some unique items. they can build more on this system by having the recipes in the future like legendary affixes to be baked in further. I really see a lot of potential in it.

    Helltides being available from level 1 feels good - although I have to admit once I took the boost (to start a new char and skip the campaign) the best thing was having all the map renown stuff out of the way to let me play the game instead of run around and redo stuff. Might just be a personal opinion but starting a new character and just 'getting into the play' without having to run around and redo stuff was about the best feeling ever. Leveling is fun - chores aren't. I'd love to see them do this going forward. The rest of it felt better - I'm optimistic and I noped out of the game before season 1 even dropped.

    tbh the greater rift mechanic is kinda overhated, the poe map system is literally just "heres an area, go kill the boss" - there`s obviously much more to it but at its core its just "run around and kill stuff" - good arpg endgame systems *at thier core* dont need to be some crazy reinvent the wheel, revolutionary thing, so the pit really sounds like a good idea for the game

    I was thinking about this:
    How about we encounter a unique (not remodeled) boss fight every ~50ish levels down the pit?
    They could also have unique drop pools with special items only dropped by them, similar to the bosses on the map.
    It would be so cool to have like sub-story bosses in the pit, there's a lot more potential here than just to have 1000 levels of the same dungeons.
    Not that I'm complaining, I'm having a lot of fun on the PTR, just saying that the Pit could be even better!

    • @alexcunningham9012
      @alexcunningham9012 5 місяців тому

      I agree sounds like a cool idea mostly. One problem with that is that if you get a unique boss on X level of the pit and he has specific drops, once you're deeper in, you don't want to be doing lower levels again to farm loot. But I think your idea of having a stage boss even every 10-20 levels would be a great addition, even if they didn't have specific loot. Just to feel like a marker of progress and to mix it up.

  • @alexandrutudorache396
    @alexandrutudorache396 5 місяців тому

    You should check Warhammer 40K Inquisitor: Martyr's crafting system. Each item has a "crafting potential" counter and you can use mats to reroll any affix into another affix, and then you can reroll that affix to get a higher value, each operation costing "crafting potential". When the counter gets to 0, you can't modify the item anymore untill you get a specific type of crafting material to add more "crafting potential". You can basically do that until you get the "perfect item" with the affixes you want and the rolls you want, as long as you have mats. You can also increase the item level to keep up with your level if you really like a certain item, so it never becomes irrelevant. Everything you find can be turned into mats, so not finding that uber awesome legendary is not that bad, you still get farming mats, blueprints and something similar to nightmare dungeon keys (void crusade shards) that give uber awesome legendary items if you finish them. I'm by no means an expert, but as a casual player i found this crafting system the most enjoyable out of many ARPGs i've played.

    • @ferinzz
      @ferinzz 5 місяців тому

      The reason it's becoming like D3 is because its core systems are quite similar to the previous game. Everything is dependent on weapon damage, so the only core stats anyone needs is weapon damage. You can see that with the need to scale everything into weapon % for it to be usable...
      They could have done a lot with their items. Instead the endgame itemization is trying to get +1 on the affix you want.
      Wide as a lake shallow as a puddle is still going to be an issue unless they completely redo the core formulas to make things scale in unique ways. Spell damage, damage over time, weapon attacks, minion stats. That's the criticism that people have with Diablo's systems and that even an ex D3 dev acknowledged.
      They made the systems too simple and streamlined, and D4 is repeating that.
      As for D3 itself... Oof. Where do you want to start?
      Cartoony graphics? Yeah, not a result of the system capabilities of the time. When potential players criticised them for that the devs attacked them. Fail.
      'no end game'. But D2 didn't have an endgame either, you might say. But it did. there was uber Diablo, then the path to get to the uber trio fight. It wasn't there in the beginning, but they did add that in. Something D3 never did.
      The fact they hid the ability to have multiple skills of the same type assigned behind an option?!
      The fun of these games and what makes stories for the community isn't the treadmill or the punching bag. It's getting out of the gym and fighting the heavyweight champion that only 1% of players face. While also letting others do infinite baal runs or hope for a Zod rune. Or farm keys for someone else to do the encounters.

    • @DuinDaer
      @DuinDaer 5 місяців тому

      @@ferinzz I agree with that you say in the "thinking" part.
      I played Torchlight 1&2 and the cartoon style was trending in that years. TL IP was great because they focus in a light story with good items and bananas options. But the best part was the great value they put in my time and not in the competition again others. You really never lost in D2, or TL.
      In D3 you didn't played as you like... But post 2.0 for me was great the "stomp the demons". I did 60 or 50% of the 30+ seasons when the game went bananas. D4 is in no way "bananas mode" at the moment. Really boring for streamers, really boring to players that have little time, hard to swallow for whales, vicious circle of devs teams without energy every patch.
      The game market is huge! More than the 90s with the internet. And people can play a lot of games at the same time. And replay games from 20 years ago, too. Cartoon graphics is a no problem for me if the game take me 16 of 31 season of time.

      @FzNd 5 місяців тому +6

      If that is their only function, they might as well just drop the mats and spare us the trip to the blacksmith for salvaging. In their current state, whites/blues/yellows simply should not drop once you reach WT4.
      That is of course a bandaid solution. A much better solution would be to change those item types to give them a purpose.

      @@FzNd Let's see how they deal with the feedback. I saw trying to change an aspect on a tempered item could take a ton of yellows...so one way or the other we still need yellow mats in T4 the question is how we will get the large amounts we need for some of the crafting. Drops would be less desirable and just the mat drop would be best. :)

      Now imagine with the droprate returned to normal. Like he said there's at least 100% increased drop rate.
      Personally I feel like there should have been an upgrade system from blue to rare to legendary. Then maybe some runes(runewords) to create the final version of your weapon.
      Blues and rares already have the same amount of affixes now. Why not lean into that?
      At the end of the day, what's going to matter is what you can do with the build once you do have it 'complete'.

    future solutions to reintegrate rare items and make them viable are plenty, especially in diablo universe
    1 runewords that work only on rare drops
    2 higher chance for rare to have greater affixes
    3 add an extremely rare material drop ( not uber but close to it) that allows you to add an affix to rare

    - The zoomed out camera does not look that zoomed out to me, but than again I didn't mind the old view - it just feels like the new view is super slightly zoomed out - not like fully zoomed out when you are fighting a world boss or Lilith.
    - They should make the drop of hyprerolled items more visible - the numbers are bearly visible - some red color like in D3 would be nice - same for the inventory - just a small border to make it more visible.
    - The Necro minions build with Bone Spear are actually fun now even with only 1 day of playing I got really hyped to experience it in full in the season

Every single item type MATTERS and i exciting to look for. Whites? - runeword bases, Blues? - crafitng bases; Yellows - powerfull items used in endgame; While in D4 we ended up with silly "powers" which are really exhausting to go through, whites, blues and yellows stop making sense around lvl 30 when legendaries start popping up. the game feels so smooth and *easy* in a way of understanding what you want from the items and the builds you go for, i played PTR with barbarian and man this was the best time i ever had with my main and beloved class! i played 3 speccs so far *the Double Swing Storm* the *WW Cyclone* and the Shockwave specc, so far the fastest and strongest is the Double Swing.
    the new legendary system is pretty strait forward and easy to understand and how to work with it.
    the Pits are great feels like *Greater Rifts* from diablo 3. how ever i would love to see much more mobs to kill as we move up in tiers levels. something that i wish like the Cow Level *full of vast mobs to kill*
    i only ask now for tier sets * green legendarys pieces* that give us few extra *ability* builds bonus like we have in diablo 2 and 3.
    more weapons, more Lore, more stories to read about, i love to read all the *story* on the unique items and we sure need more unique items in the game. also we should get a special *material* if you destroy an unique item and with that material using 5 of them we could make a unique item that we wanted for the *class* in item gear not as a weapon! as i know all of you would go for the *grand father or doombringer* but a gear piece would be awsome!
    also we need a pet that can pick up items and gold. its not fun when you are full stack of buffs or power ups and u need to stop the route of killing to pick up items. let us have a pet Demon or pet Angel to pick up items that we chose in the options *only pick up legendary items or rare items or blue....* and when the pet inventory is full we can use our space inventory to pick up the rest!
    this will make the game much more *playable* in terms of keep fighting to kill mobs not fighting to pick up items!

    I feel the main problem from talking with many friends is that FINDING items is just not fun in D4. You find yellows and then put legendary powers on them. This base way of getting legendaries is just not fun or interesting really at all at least for me or anyone I have talked to about it. Compared to other ARPGs where there are HUNDREDS of uniques, sets, legendaries etc. etc. all with their own artwork etc, I cant help but feel extremely disappointed on how it works in D4. However I know this would require a complete re-design of the game but yeah guess I am just not their target audience. I know D4 has uniques but there is just not enough of them (like 5-7 per class? lol) and not enough of them are build worthy really like in other ARPGs. Anyways, I liked my time with D4 playing through the campaign and playing some end game to tier 4 dungeons but after a while the way in how items drop just was not fun. I will give season 4 a try but I honestly think these devs are extremely incompetent (except their art, sound and animations teams, they are amazing) in their design system choices. Their dev campfire online videos just show a group of devs who do not really sound like gamers or that they are even passionate about this game or games in general. It feels like these devs are just working their job for a paycheck and couldn't care less. Passion really makes a HUGE difference in how good a game ends up (look at Baldur's Gate 3) and this game feels like a corporate shell of a video game designed around its store. All the amazing artwork in the store that could have been included on unique gear, legendaries, sets, runewords (why are these not in the game?). Anyways end rant.

    Good overview of the bigger changes/additions to the game. I've finally had a chance to get some decent playtime in and I'll add couple more nice revisions. Nightmare dungeons are much more simplified in terms of sigil modifiers...on the ancestral sigils I've found/crafted, there's just one positive modifier (highlighted in green) and one negative modifier (and it gives the monster level as well) so this makes it much easier to not only sift through sigils but also a bit easier in terms of gameplay. One caveat is that I haven't done any sigils beyond level 51, so perhaps higher level sigils have more negative mods.
    However, I discovered an interesting incentive to run Nightmare Dungeons - goblin packs! Twice I've run into packs of 4+ goblins (they were gathered around a shrine) and it was a lot of fun chasing them down. Goblins do indeed drop boss summoning mats (and also tempering manuals I believe)...also, the end of dungeon rewards can include both tempering manuals and crafting mats, so Nightmare Dungeons seem to be a nice alternative to farming in The Pit and/or Helltide. Given that drop rates in Season 4 are likely to be reduced overall, hunting down goblin packs could be a good tactic to get more legendaries and maybe a +2 or more enhanced stat version.

I can roll one affix, but the item is still trash. With only 3 affixes on gear, getting 2 great affixes means I can roll the third garbage affix and still have an amazing item. Also, you are way more likely to get 2/3 than 3/4. That's just maths.
