Great marching song! But i think the Soviets the melody from yugoslav song "Budi se istok i zapad". But nevermind, its still a great song.

"Budi se istok i zapad" is Yugoslav version of "Смело, товарищи, в ногу!"
"Смело, товарищи, в ногу!" was written in 1897
Yugoslav version lyrics was written during the WW2 (I don't remember the exact year, unfortunately)
So "Budi se istok i zapad" is Yugoslav partisan version of Russian revolutionary song "Смело, товарищи, в ногу!"
(like with Russian Civil War song "По долинам и по взгорьям" and "Po sumama i gorama")
