I have the same splitter and have run about 10 cords. For a homeowner's piece of equipment, I would recommend it and buy it again. The negatives I have about it 1) Chip collection on the rail. At about 8:16 you can see a collection of chips trapped on top of the beam and held in the slot of the wedge channel. If you need to run the wedge all the way to the end of the stroke the wedge packs those chips in the bottom. They get packed in so tight that the ram can be stopped prior to the complete split of the log. A small pry bar needed to get those tightly packed chips out. There are 2 oval cleanout holes in the bottom, but not really sufficient to keep the area cleaned out. It looks like Kelly is splitting real nice dry rounds which is less of a problem, but if the wood was unseasoned and he needed the wedge to go the full length it would pack. 2) Some metal parts are pot metal and will easily break. The store did not have the one I bought assembled yet, so I put it together. After unpacking it I notice the Pump stand that connects the pump to the engine had a crack in it and disassembling it the part broke in two pieces. Cheap pot metal. Customer Service was good in getting the part replaced. My worry is on the operator side of the splitter is the filter and pump mounted to the pump stand, both pot metal. A split piece of wood could easily come off of the beam down on to the pot metal parts and they will break. I work with much larger rounds it is a common thing to have a round slip off the side. The optional log table on the engine side does protect the engine from being hit by a piece of wood.
Good feedback and I agree with you. I've ran a lot more wood through it since making this video and have also added the log catch. The chips packing in the bottom of the beam and also working back under the cylinder towards the front of the splitter are aggravating, but something I can manage. I clean out those chips every few splits to keep it from packing tight. I've been splitting a lot of green wood lately and can testify about the build up. Other than that the only problem I've had is my wedge splitting edge actually chipping a few times when hitting really hard knots in some oak.
I just bought one of these lase weekend 3/27/21 ($990.99). I did a cord in 1 day (3 ricks). Perfect machine! Gotta have the log holder that screws into the side ($59.99). Only used 1/2 gallon gas after about 3-4 hours of splitting (some rounds were 26" across red oak and I made some small kindling too).
Solid overview. I have owned the 30-ton for a little under a year now and the hydraulic pump sprung a small leak, which did not affect its ability to operator. I called customer service and provided me with a new pump. No issues at all thereafter. I kept the other pump as a backup.
I hate to hear you had a problem, however it sounds like they took good care of you. I considered the 30 ton but couldn't justify the extra 500 dollars for no more wood than I split.
The Kelley's Country Life I used one like that for a few years. Spending thousands more on a larger splitter really only means you’ll likely have a better wedge and that you can handle larger rounds that you’ll need two guys for anyway. Splitters get beat up. Watch the hoses and you shouldn’t have to replace it. I’ve used an ANCIENT totally rusted splitter and it splits just as fast as new. 25 ton and a chainsaw is a good choice.
I have the same splitter works like a charm. I bought the county line log catcher couple months ago and its awesome makes splitting a lot faster and easier.
Always turn the fuel off on it when you shut it down. If you don't, it could cause the carb to fill up with gas and gum it up. I'm going into my 3rd season with that same splitter with no issues. I live in the Blue Ridge mts. Red and white oak, hickory, locust just slides right through it. Interesting video, thanks for sharing.
I just split a large load of wood yesterday with it and it had no problems. Some of these pieces were quite large and probably some of the largest firewood rounds I'll ever split. Glad to hear yours is still running well, I hope it treats me good for many years. Also I do always turn the gas off until it cuts off. Pulling a gas filled carburetor around a bumpy yard isn't a good idea. I've actually seen gas come out of the exhaust of small single cylinder engines after a rough ride.
I have two fir trees that I have had cut down in the last year that need splitting. Buying a splitter that is not as expensive as this one you have is about the same price as renting one for all the work/time I will need it. Plus I can get it done on my time vs a rushed weekend. These kinds of projects are like free therapy.
It's absolutely therapy and relaxation for me! I use my splitter so often that it's already paid for itself in my mind. Nothing like a warm fire at the end of the day to discuss life or tell a few fibs lol.

Nice! Is your log lift hydraulic or some manual way? I honestly prefer sitting down and splitting, just always done it that way. However smaller logs are a little more convenient in the horizontal position. I have not found a log catch locally, thinking about building one.

Purchased 30 ton one, works just great, mine studdered too off and on. Check the hydraulic fluid, retailer didn’t fill it up to the level. I had to add 2 gallons. Then it works smoother.
Good point, didn't think about needing room for accessories. It's fine, I just make sure I try to toss the split wood and get my hand back to the lever in time to stop it from going all the way up. It literally only saves a couple of seconds, but it does add up on a full or half day of splitting. That's me just being nit picky. I'm very happy with the cycle speed. I've watched a few other channels with more expensive log splitters and their cycle times seem extremely slow.
Wonder if this splitter could take on the heavily knotted pinon logs here on the navajo nation. I have broken 3 fiskar axes trying to split juniper pinon here in my area.

You can add a collar on the ram and it will kick the auto return off when it hits the resistance so it wont travel so far, easy fix if it bugs you. I also don't like to bend over so i cut over a trailer and split right into my wood shed as I try and never let the wood hit the ground.
Now that I have used the splitter quite a bit, the length of the ram doesn't bother me. I've got a routine down where I split and stack directly into my wood rack for efficiency. Thanks for watching!
I am currently thinking of purchasing alog splitter. After watching the amount of videos I have on your channel with the C.L. log splitter I have just a few questions to help my decision making process. I notice the C.L has a U shaped beam where pieces of wood and junk can form. Has this been a problem in the horizontal position? Do you find yourself cleaning it out often? Opposed to a flat beam?
The u shaped beam never catches wood. The little metal lip on top of the beam that keeps the splitting maul from jumping out does catch some debris. There are holes in the end of the beam that allows dirt and trash to fall out. I still have to remove some wood by hand during a splitting session. I don't find it annoying or a constant problem that bothers me. This is only in the horizontal position. In the vertical position, the debris falls out even easier. At the moment, I highly recommend this splitter for the price.
Man going through old videos and found my comment. Since this time I bought a brute 35 ton log splitter. It's literally exactly the same splitter just a different motor and tonnage. Thought I'd follow up for S-n-G.
Find a good welder. Cut a piece of 1/4" cold rolled plate to size 12 x 18" and weld that to the toe plate of the splitter then add a few pieces of 1/4" key steel to the toe to hold log steady. Stand machine up vertically. NOW you can handle the really big shit like 36" Maple or oak without lifting it . I used a 9" grinder to cut their shitty little anchor points off before welding the plate on top of the factory foot.
You're right, "Birch Hook" seems to be a local term. Here's what I'm talking about - ua-cam.com/video/bHZEhdKFGXI/v-deo.html - The guy in the video is very inexperienced with it, but I use the same exact hook. I use it to hold wood on the splitter among a lot of other things. It keeps your hands away from the splitting mechanism, and cuts out a lot of gripping and bending.

Awesome, my sister use to live in Quincy years ago. Absolutely beautiful country over there, love the rolling hills. Prettiest part of Florida in my opinion
I just went out and measured, it's got a 47 inch wheelbase. So yes it will fit between the fender wells on a full size truck. It's very heavy and will require ramps and a minimum of two people to load it up. You should be good!
Accidentally got my ring finger slipped behind log while splitting today and snapped the bone between first n second joint. Finger in a splint now. Grateful it wasn't worse. First use. Operator error. Lol. I Gotta be more careful
That's exactly why I don't wear rings/jewelry often. It bothers me while wearing gloves and it can easily catch in equipment. It was beat in my head working in an industrial atmosphere the last 10 years to not wear jewelry or long hair around equipment. The hair part I definitely don't have to worry about lol. Sorry you were injured, glad it wasn't worse than it was. Take care!
Nice if it had log tables to catch the logs. The logs can damage your hoses, pump, gas tank and engine if it falls on to them. Get yourself those wings. I don't like Tractor supply for the same reason, they leave everything out side.
I added the log catch table shortly after this video, and it was worth every penny. There are several videos on our page showing it in use. Thanks for watching!
Got the table last year and love it. Read bad reviews on the 4 way breaking and not splitting well, so I decided not to purchase it. It's been a wonderful splitter.
Hate to admit it, but I didn't actually find the throttle until the third use. It's tucked up under the gas tank. I assumed this was like some other single cylinder engines I've had in the past (ex push mower), which is wide open or off. I always let my gasoline engines warm up, it's been beat in my head by my father to do so. 😃
With that rust on the air filter housing, I"ll bet you have water running down that threaded rod right into the carb bowl. I'd drain out that bowl. That would explain the engine stuttering.
When you split firewood do you feel like you’ve found the meaning of life like power is surging through your veins with every split? Or is more just an alternative heating fuel?
Lol maybe not that in depth, however I do have an addiction for firewood and just being outdoors. I LOVE running a chainsaw and splitter. I guess it's being able to see a nice pile of wood at the end of a hard day and then getting to enjoy it in fire form. I love things that give you instant gratification.
Splitting hard wood old school style with my trusty old 4 1/2 axe/maul combo blade on it gives me a very very satisfying sensation mentally and physically every time I blow through a log in the first hit and bust a 2" deep gouge into my asphalt driveway lmao, I'm just about down to pure soil no more asphalt In the 4'x4' area I've been splitting within the last few years. Very satisfying though bro I can totally level with you there, a log splitter isn't satisfying at all except for the very distinct crunch/snap/tear noise the log makes after the wedge is driven past the first few inches into the log , I love that sound.
# 1 You would have been better off putting the splitter next to the pile and splitting it. The way you were bent over and twisting to put the wood in the bucket is not going to save your back! # 2 If i was you i would not start that engine at full speed you will shorten the life of that motor. Start it at a lower speed and let it warm up for a couple minutes. Read your owners manual the break in oil usually needs to be in for 5 to 10 hours.
Break in oil has been changed and the last load I split my normal way I'm used to, sitting down on a nice cut round with no lifting of the wood. Just roll it over to the splitter
Wow that’s awesome. Was a pleasure to watch new friend. Also i like what you did with your channel. You have my subscription, would love to have your support as well. I’ll catch you on the next one. Thanks again for sharing. ATB Joe 😎👊🏻
Sadly my tractor supply doesn't stock anything for this splitter. No 4 way or log catch. I'll check online, about to build a trail system through my woods to access a lot more firewood.
@@TKCL they are a little pricey but if you split a lotta wood they're worth the investment. Eastonmade is also making a vertical splitter but they're not available yet. Also, check out Back40 firewood he has a livestream on friday nights. Lotta manufacturers stop in and say hi. Wolfridge etc
I already watch back 40, and I have watched a few of Joe's videos. No more wood than I split for personal use, it's hard to justify a better splitter. If I were to ever start selling it, I might consider an upgrade. Thanks for watching!

How much does it cost and can you send a link to the company's sight loved your video.
$1100, but they always go on sale. Got mine for 899 www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/countyline-25-ton-log-splitter-126151799--1
How much praise
$1000 US
Split the 2 halves at once ,,2 strokes 4 logs
I've been doing that more and more to help speed up my time
Not sure about yours, but mine stands up vertical by pulling the pin and tilting the splitter assembly.
Yes mine dies too, much needed for very large pieces I can't lift.
🤠❤️
Disculpa que empresa las vende en Guadalajara Jalisco
Te podemos enviar a tu casa nuestro modelo. ua-cam.com/video/pRxxLiH3_wY/v-deo.html
Me guitaria saber donde comprar la cortadora de Madera County Line en Guadalajara Jal
They do sell a fourway that slides down on that wedge. Get that and your table and your be in business
Got the table last year and love it. Read bad reviews on the 4 way breaking and not splitting well, so I decided not to purchase it. It's been a wonderful splitter.
You are doing great, just tell the truth as you go.
I try my best
My opinion...
Warm in up before splitting and let it cool down a few too.
That's a definite
i have same one a i cut a 6x6 for spacer
I got plenty of 6x6 and 8x8s laying around!
With that rust on the air filter housing, I"ll bet you have water running down that threaded rod right into the carb bowl. I'd drain out that bowl. That would explain the engine stuttering.

That's rust because tractor Supply leaves all their equipment outside. Bought it that way, I store mine under a building.
Why don't you put both halves together and do two at one time?
I have been doing that. We learn as we go
There’s a lot of people that split 2 foot firewood
Definitely, we keep it shorter in Florida. Just recreational burning here, no boilers or anything like that
When you split firewood do you feel like you’ve found the meaning of life like power is surging through your veins with every split?
Eric Drisgula Hand-splitting, jokes aside, I totally get it. That’s a whole different animal compared to using hydraulic.
ATB Joe 😎👊🏻
Thanks for watching, I'll swing by and check yours out.
The Kelley's Country Life
I appreciate that .
I hope you enjoy.
Get the 4 way splitter TSC 49.99
Sadly my tractor supply doesn't stock anything for this splitter. No 4 way or log catch. I'll check online, about to build a trail system through my woods to access a lot more firewood.
@@TKCL Order it online and have it shipped to your store. They will let you know when it arrives, and all you have to do is pick it up. Easy.
Make your next splitter a Powersplit.
Check out their videos
They look nice, probably well out of my price range.
@@TKCL they are a little pricey but if you split a lotta wood they're worth the investment.
Eastonmade is also making a vertical splitter but they're not available yet. Check out Joe's Premium Firewood channel, he uses an eastonmade ultra, that's an awesome entry level commercial splitter wirh a very fast cycle time.
Have good one and keep up the good work.
Hello fron to spain. Look my log spliter spanish friend. Thanks
