Even though the Hawks for a moment enjoyed a 17 point lead during the 3rd quarter, the reigning champions fight back for an ending with an overtime. Magic Johnson, by handing out 19 assists, helps James Worthy get his career high of 38 points. February 19, 1988.

Magic was the floor general - could really control a game. Worthy was streaky and when he had the hot hand Magic would feed him for the high FG% performance. I recall there was a playoff series against Denver where he shot like 70% from the floor.

Magic won in 80 with Kareem, Wilkes, others. Again in 82 with Kareem, Wilkes, MacAdoo, others. Titles with Worthy in 85, 87, and 88. Argument could be made they might have won also in 89 with Magic and Scott going down with injuries.
