My dad worked at Winchester in product planning
I have the very 1st 20g 101 ever made . It was sent from kadenja for approval before production was allowed to commence.

    5:15 ring scratch 😆

I think that sound was from his hand sliding on the rib. It didn’t have a metal on metal sound. Additionally, that ring looks like it could be one of the silicone rings.

    That gun is real treasure!
I have almost the same gun, 101 Pigeon grade XTR Trap. 30 inch. 16mm top rib, ventilated mid rib, oiled stock and dated 1982. Weighs in at 8lb 6oz. Mine was made in Japan, i believe the very early 101s were made in the USA.
I am in the UK and the 101 in all configurations was very popular in Europe around the late 70s and 80s.

Early models were made by Olin-Kodensha in Japan.

I own this exact gun and have been trap shooting with it since I was 12 (I'm 34 now). I have an estimated 8,000 rounds through it and she has never failed me. Thanks dad

👍Beautiful Shotgun!👍 I had the _”Winchester 101 Diamond Grade Trap”_ 💎; great shooting & looking guns!! Sold it a couple years ago after thousands of rounds thru it with _zero_ issues. I would’ve kept it; however, unfortunately my Dad passed away & I inherited several trap guns. My “daily” over/under is now a _”Remington 3200 Trap Special”_ with custom AAA furniture & gold inlays;...literally _hundreds of thousands_ of rounds thru it (& many, many championships won) since my Grandpa special ordered it in ‘73!! 😳 & Yes (for those that know these guns), the recall/upgrade was done years ago. 😂👍

I've got one like this, but with ventilated barrels. I bought it in the early 1980,s. I adore it and I always keep it loaded in case of an emergency.

When you guys are overseas "Beating the Bushes" for gun deals, it would be pretty easy to pop into a few gunshops and send classic high end rifles and shotguns home on a semi-regular basis. Since the EU has become so anti-gun there may be some great deals out there.

This brings back horrid memories trading off my 101 Trap Pigeon Grade. I would've crapped if Ben had pulled my old gun although I still have its factory box. It was a perfect twin to the one shown here. So it'd be the 1977 era version of the 101 Pigeon. Couldn't count how many times I regretted that trade even though I got my money back after 2-3,000 rds through it.

They were made in Japan for Winchester back in the mid 70s a friend of mine had two of them one was an over and under 12 gauge trap and one was a single shot with a 34 inch barrel trap some had gold inlay with a gold trigger I think they are between 1400and $1800 back then.

I appreciate fine firearms, and that one is spectacular. I use working class firearms, but God's grace to the new owner. That is a real looker. Should fetch a more than fair price.

Beautiful gun but $5K - $10K is way out of my budget. Not saying it won't go for more. That original case and paperwork are probably worth at least another $5K.

In 1977 the gun alone sold for $550 cash although MSRP was higher.

    skeet

    Pigeon
    Diamond
    Grand European
    Pigeon Grade presentation grade.
same everything for mechanical side. however it was engraving and gold inlay on presentation grade was a difference.

Its the Pigeon version made around 1977. I had an exact twin of this one. A couple years later they changed up the Pigeon to an less beautiful configuration IMHO.

What do you even do with a high-end shotgun like this? I feel like you can't take it out and shoot it or the value drops $2K. I think they are just for rich people to buy from each other over the years and never shoot it.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love my 101s. I couldn't bring myself to fire that though. Being it is just pristine that deserves to just stay broken down in the case. Even fitting it together will put bed in marks on the faces. I found an unfired 96 xpert that i only decided to fire because it had no case and a small pit on reciever.
    Ps gloves dude

I own a Winchester 6000 field. It’s in perfect condition. But I can’t find many infos about the gun in the internet. If someone could help I would appreciate.

    • @fullchoke01
      @fullchoke01 4 роки тому +2

The 6000 was made at same time as the 6500, 8500 etc. Mostly for european market. Mechanically they are all 101's, a couple had nikko style ejector system but basically everything that came from kodensha plant was a 101 action, pretty sure these were made when olin pulled pin and winchester repeating arms took over prior to sale to classic doubles.
