It’s an awesome bit of kit, he also does one for the Amiga600. I wouldn’t worry about the metal shield on the 500 as it’s not needed. One thing I like is you’re not cutting cables, pushing them through the vents and having to rejoin like a normal Gotek

GoDrive is a game-changer for my Amiga, rivalling PiStorm as one of the best upgrades I've ever made. It's compact, keeps the floppy drive functional, and its neat ribbon cable easily outclasses the usual Gotek wire mess. I absolutely love it!

Yeah, I have to admit, its a classy product. I know people HAD to hack their small box Amiga's to use a traditional GOTEK, but, that issue is no more. Hoorah!

@@RetronautTech My pal JurassicC managed to fit a GoTek into my A1200 without hacking the case - but it was at the expense of the floppy drive. He 3D printed a cradle for it. Despite the neat installation, the GoTek's bulky size, cumbersome controls, and tangled cables detracted from its usability.
So I sold mine at SWAG for probably less than I should have, and bought the GoDrive.

@lie4162 To be fair, there is NOTHING wrong with GOTEK drives, just the form factor in the shape of a 3.5" floppy, is just not going to work in a machine with a slot load. The screen, the dial, the USB slot. Getting all that to work through the slot is going to end in a janky experience at best, or a mutalated Amiga at worst. Thats why I like the GoDrive, its SPECIFICALLY engineered for the small box Amigas. As shown in the video, I have a GOTEK for my Amiga 4000, once its case is swapped, it should look pretty minty in it. Its a case of horses for courses...

A good video if you like using an Amiga with the case apart.

@@RetronautTech if i remember right the product not called "commodore amiga 1200 go-drive" but GoDRIvE1200 , and it works on a500/500+ and a1200 ofcurse, but i think the proper for your video title is to write "Commodore Amiga 500 GoDrive Installation & Review of GoDRIvE1200" bcse for this machine u made review and installation guide, also will help people on search if search for a500 guide 😉, anyway it's nothing important just i write my opinion about i hope not bother you that, have a nice day.
