@Grateful Varmints Concord All-Stars live in Tokyo, "Take 8" CD. I wonder how many more tracks like this are sitting in the Concord vaults. Probably a small handful, though I doubt they ever recorded a full set of Ed in a trio setting.
Pitiful that Mosaic does not release a box of Eds work. Pitiful. Ty. All great. The effort is appreciated. Especially this track which shows how different Eds sound was from gig to gig. Unless eq’d beautifully bright.
@@golds04 His sound really did vary quite a bit. Compare his sound here to what he sounds like on the duet album with Bill Mays--quite different. My theory is that most of it comes down to his indifference to amps (particularly once he stopped using his Standel amp, some time during the 1980s) and the EQ done by recording/mastering engineers. For an amusing anecdote about an engineer dealing with Ed's tone in a studio, see the section titled "Bill King - The Radioland Jazz Session" at www.fyimusicnews.ca/articles/2019/03/08/musician%E2%80%99s-guide-ed-bickert
@@jimdixon3470 i completely agree, tho the brightness of his sound was n the embraceable you on UA-cam might in part be from the humbucker. Supposedly was a paf but sounds to bright for that - but never heard in person a paf in a tele in person. That recording is my favorite sound and am now putting a humbucker in my American Professional to see. Not touching my 66..
It's just perfect!
My guitar hero!!! 👍👍❤❤🎸🎸
This made my day. Awesome, thank you.
Makes spending two hours uploading Bickert stuff today feel somewhat worthwhile :)
